Produtividade e qualidade de frutos de meloeiro cultivado em substrato com três doses de solu??o nutritiva

Abstract: muskmelon seedlings, hybrid torreon, were planted on september 12, 2002, in 4.5 dm3 bags filled with a commercial substrate, in a plant density of 3.3 plants m-2. plants were trained vertically with two fruits per plant. nutrients were supplied to plants by 1 l of nutrient solution, delivered to each plant once a week by fertigation. only water was delivered between successive fertigations, in order to replace volumes lost by transpiration. the control (t2) was a nutrient solution containing, in mmol l-1: 13.0 no3-; 0.9 h2po4- ; 6.0 k+ ; 5.01 ca++ ; 2.25 mg++ ; 2.25 so4-, with added micronutrients. for treatments t1 and t3, quantities of fertilizers from t2 were multiplied by a factor of 0.5 and 2, respectively. lai values at the ending date were 1.99; 2.22 and 2.28 m2 m-2 for t1, t2 and t3, respectively, t1 differing significantly from t2 and t3. fruit yield reached 56.2; 65.0 and 65.9 mg++ ha-1, for t1, t2 and t3, respectively. maximum fruit yield was estimated by a nutrient concentration of 44.1 mmol l-1, corresponding to the following composition of the nutrient solution, in mmol l-1: 19.5 of no3-; 1.35 of h2po4-; 9.0 of k+; 7.51 of ca++; 3.37 of mg++; 3.37 of so4-, and in mmol l-1: 50.25 of fe; 22.5 of mn; 3.45 of zn; 1.5 of cu; 22.5 of b e 0.78 of mo. similar results were observed for fruit quality variables.
Closed soilless growing system for producing strawberry bare root transplants and runner tips

Abstract: the objective of this work was to test a closed soilless growing system for producing bare root transplants and runner tips of two strawberry clones, using two categories of substrates. the system used corrugated roofing panels of fiber-cement, over which a substrate layer was used as a growing bed. the nutrient solution was pumped from a reservoir toward the upper end of the roofing panels and drained back to a reservoir. plant growth and development were determined for two advanced strawberry clones, grown in sand or in plantmax organic substrate. growth of the stock plants and the number and dry mass of bare root transplants were similar in the substrates, but bare roots differed in their crown diameters by substrate. for number of runner tips, no significant differences were found in total, small, and medium categories in the substrates. a mean production of about 590 runner tips per square meter and 145 bare root transplants per square meter was obtained. for both clones, a large number of bare root transplants and runner tips of adequate size were produced in the closed soilless growing system using sand or organic substrate.

Abstract: Mudas de meloeiro, híbrido Torreon, foram plantadas no dia 12 de setembro de 2002 em sacolas contendo 4,5 dm3 de substrato comercial, na densidade de 3,3 plantas m-2. As plantas foram conduzidas verticalmente, com dois frutos por planta. Os nutrientes foram fornecidos em 1 L de solu o nutritiva para cada planta, uma vez por semana, via fertirriga o. Entre as fertirriga es, somente água foi fornecida, de acordo com a demanda hídrica da cultura. A testemunha (T2) foi uma solu o nutritiva contendo, em mmol L-1: 13,0 de NO3-; 0,9 de H2PO4-; 6,0 de K+; 5,01 de Ca++; 2,25 de Mg++; 2,25 de S4-, com adi o de micronutrientes. Os tratamentos T1 e T3 corresponderam a dose de T2 multiplicada por 0,5 e 2,0, respectivamente. Ao final do experimento, os valores do IAF foram de 1,99; 2,22 e 2,28 m2 m-2 respectivamente para T1; T2 e T3, sendo T1 significativamente inferior aos demais. A produtividade de frutos alcan ou 56,2; 65,0 e 65,9 Mg++ ha-1, em T1, T2 e T3, respectivamente, com produtividade máxima estimada na dose de 44,1 mmol L-1 de macronutrientes. Essa dose corresponde a uma solu o nutritiva com a seguinte composi o de macronutrientes, em mmol L-1: 19,5 NO3-; 1,35 de H2PO4-; 9,0 de K+; 7,51 de Ca++; 3,37 de Mg++; 3,37 de SO4- e de micronutrientes, em mimol L-1: 50,25 de Fe; 22,5 de Mn; 3,45 de Zn; 1,5 de Cu; 22,5 de B e 0,78 de Mo. Resultados semelhantes foram observados para a qualidade dos frutos.
Crescimento, produtividade e colora o dos chips de tubérculos de batata produzidos sob alta disponibilidade de potássio

Abstract: O objetivo do trabalho foi quantificar o crescimento e a produtividade e avaliar a colora o de chips de tubérculos da cv. Asterix de batata produzidos sob alta disponibilidade de potássio. O experimento foi conduzido no Departamento de Fitotecnia da UFSM, RS, em abrigo telado de 200m2, no período entre 28/08/2004 e 30/11/2004. Foram empregadas sacolas de polietileno contendo 1,4Kg de substrato organico (Plantmax ), com um tubérculo por sacola. Os teores disponíveis de nutrientes contidos no substrato foram de 95; 1.506; 7.831 e 2.948mg kg-1 de P, K, Ca e Mg, respectivamente. Os cinco tratamentos consistiram de doses suplementares de K fornecidas diariamente por fertirriga o, através de cinco solu es nutritivas contendo 3,5; 5,5; 6,5; 8,0 e 9,5mmol L-1 de K. As quantidades totais de k disponibilizadas em cada sacola através das solu es nutritivas ao longo do período experimental foram de 912,3; 1.433,7; 1.694,3; 2.085,3 e 2.476,3mg por planta, respectivamente.O crescimento da área foliar das plantas aumentou linearmente com a disponibilidade de K. N o foram observados efeitos significativos sobre o número, a massa seca e a produtividade de tubérculos e a qualidade dos chips. Níveis elevados de aduba o potássica n o exercem efeito depressivo na produtividade de tubérculos e na qualidade dos chips de batata.

Abstract: the objective of this study was to determine the effect of plant density combined with defoliation on growth and fruit yield of greenhouse tomato plants grown in soil. treatments consisted of 3.3 (t1), 6.7 (t2) and 10.0 (t3) plants m-2. in t1, three leaves per sympod were left. in t2, for each two plants within a row, on the first plant one leaf was kept in the first sympod, whereas on the second plant two leaves were kept in the sympod of the same order. in the second sympod, two and one leaves were kept, inversely from the preceding one, and so on during the growth of the crop. in t3, only one leaf per sympod was kept. the number of leaves, trusses and fruits was counted, and fresh and dry mass of ripe fruits was determined. the number of leaves and fruits was similar among treatments in autumn. in spring, it was higher on t2 plants. fruit yield was higher on t2 plants in both experiments. for commercial production of this crop grown in soil under protected cultivation, the plant density and defoliation procedure tested in t2 might be used to increase fruit yield.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to adjust the critical nitrogen (n) dilution curve of the potato cultivar asterix and to evaluate its use on n management strategies. tubers of this cultivar were planted in 5 dm3 polyethylene bags filled with organic substrate in the density of 4.4 bags m-2. treatments consisted of five nutrient solutions with n concentrations of 5, 8.3, 11.3, 14.3, and 16.3 mmol l-1. other macronutrients as 8.3 of k+, 1.75 of ca2+, 1,2 of h2po4-, 0.7 of mg2+, 0.7 mmol l-1 of so42- and micronutrients were added in standard concentrations. dry matter and n concentration in leaves, stems and tubers were weekly determined, from 43 to 99 days after planting. the critical nitrogen curve [n (g kg-1) = 36dm-0.37] was adjusted, based on total dry matter production. this dilution curve may be used as an interpretation tool for foliar analysis results and as a parameter to estimate n extraction during growth and development of the potato cultivar asterix.
Produ??o e qualidade do morangueiro em sistemas fechados de cultivo sem solo com emprego de substratos

Abstract: the objective of the research was to determine fruit production and quality of strawberry plants grown in three different closed soilless systems and two substrates. the experiment was conducted in a screenhouse at department of fitotecnia, ufsm, from april to november, 2006. the soilless growing systems were plastic bags, plastic troughs and growing beds, and the substrates were sand and the organic substrate plantmax pxt?. a 3 x 2 factorial experimental design was used, with four replications. drip fertigation was used in the plastic bags and sub-irrigation in the other two systems. a standard complete nutrient solution was used without any disposal of it during the experiment. ripe fruits were harvested and production, firmness, acidity and soluble solids were determined. a significant interaction among substrates and systems was observed. in sand, a mean fruit production of 1017,4g plants-1 was obtained in plastic troughs, which was 8.13% e 8.33% higher than in plastic bags and growing beds, respectively. in the organic substrate, the higher fruit production was 1196,5g plants-1 in growing beds. it was 10.9% and 29.33% higher than that in plastic bags and plastic troughs, respectively. it was concluded that strawberry soilless production might be done without any disposal of nutrient solution during the cropping period. fruit production was affected by both the growing system and the substrate, without any effect on fruit quality.

Abstract: the experiment was carried out inside a greenhouse at ufsm, from august to january 2005, using the hybrid magelan. planting was made in polyethylene bags with 4.5dm3 of the commercial substrate plantmax pxt?, in a plant density of 3.3 plants m-2. plants were vertically trained with two fruits per plant and the main stem was cut at 2m height. treatments were n concentrations of 8 (t1), 11 (t2), 14 (t3), 17 (t4) and 20 (t5) mmol l-1 in the nutrient solution. the other nutrients were supplied at standard concentrations of, in mmol l-1, 0.9 h2po4-; 2.25 so4--; 10.0 ca++; 6.0 k+ and 5.0 mg++, and, in mg l-1, 0.42 mn; 0.26 zn; 0.05 cu; 0.50 b; 0.04 mo, and 4.82 of quelated fe. the nutrient solution was delivered to plants several times a day, in order to replace volumes lost by transpiration, with a daily drainage coefficient higher than 30%. a randomized experimental design was used, with five treatments and four replications. linear effect of treatments was observed for vegetative and fruit dry mass, leaf area, number and fruit yield. fruit titratable acidity decreased by effect of treatments and no significant effects were observed for other fruit quality variables. the nitrogen concentration till 20mmol l-1 in the nutrient solution could be used in the fertigation of this crop grown in substrate.

Abstract: the objective was to verify the effect of high potassium availability on plant growth and tuber yield and chip color of potato, cv. asterix. the experiment was conducted in a 200m2 polyethylene greenhouse at the departamento de fitotecnia, ufsm, from august, 28 to november, 30, 2005. polyethylene bags were filled with 4dm3 of organic substrate (plantmax ?) and one tuber was planted. the p, k, ca and mg availabilities were 95; 1,506; 7,831 and 2,948mg kg-1, respectively. plants were daily fertigated with nutrient solutions containing supplementary k doses of 3.5; 5.5; 6.5; 8.0 and 9.5mmol l-1. potassium available in each bag during the experimental period was 912.3; 1,433.7; 1,694.3; 2,085.3 e 2,476.3mg per plant, respectively. the leaf area index increased with k availability. there were no effect on tuber number, dry mass and yield and chip color. high k fertilization rates does not affect tuber yield and chip color of potato.

Abstract: the research was carried out to adjust the nitrogen critical dilution curve for the muskmelon crop, to be used in fertilization practices for this crop. the experiment was conducted in a greenhouse at universidade federal de santa maria, from august to january, 2005. plantlets of the hybrid magellan was grown in polyethylene bags with 4.5dm3 of the commercial substrate plantmax pxt?, in a plant density of 3.3plants m-2, and fertigated with a complete nutrient solution. plants were vertically trained with one stem and no more than two fruits per plant, and the main stem was cut at 2m height. treatments were n concentrations in the nutrient solution of 8, 11, 14, 17, and 20mmol l-1, in a randomized experimental design with four replications. four plants of each treatment were harvested at weekly intervals between 33 and 99 days after planting to determine dry mass (dm) accumulation and n concentration in leaves, stem and fruits. the n dilution in plant dry mass was confirmed in all treatments and data fitted the potential model %n = ams-b described in the literature. the n dilution curve was adjusted, with values of 5.16 and 0.63 for a and b coefficients, respectively. this model could be used to estimate the n quantity absorbed during growth and development of this crop, based on the analysis of this element on leaf tissues.
