Abstract: This paper offers an integrated optimization of mechanisms with genetic algorithm, the principle of which is to use a neural network as a global calculation program and to couple the network with stochastic methods of optimization. In other words, this paper deals with the integrated optimization of mechanisms with genetic algorithms, and, in conclusion, the possible use of neural networks for complex mechanisms or processes.
Extremely Early Diagnostic Test for Prostate Cancer  [PDF]

Abstract: Purpose: This article reports the results of a blinded fibre diffraction study of skin samples taken from TRAMP mice and age-matched controls to determine whether changes noted in fibre diffraction studies of human skin were present in these TRAMP mice studies. These mice are bred to progress to Gleeson Type 3 to Type 5 prostate cancer. Methods: Small strips, 1 mm × 5 mm, cut from the mouse skin samples were loaded into cells in the same way as human samples and slightly stretched to remove the crimp. They remained fully hydrated throughout exposure to the synchrotron beam. Results: The added change that was reported for prostate cancer in 2009 was obtained for all TRAMP mice samples, indicating that this change can be read as High Grade Cancer in human diagnostic tests. Discussion: These changes were evident for all 3 and 7 week old TRAMP mice samples but not for any of the control samples. This indicates that the changes in the fibre diffraction patterns appear much earlier than in any other available prostate cancer diagnostic test, as none of these can verify the presence of prostate cancer in the TRAMP mice before 10 weeks of age. The fibre diffraction test is therefore the most accurate and earliest test for high grade prostate cancer.

Abstract: This paper explores the effects of trade policy under induced innovation in general equilibrium. The analysis considers the effects of discrete changes in tariffs and import quotas, allowing for heterogeneous technologies among firms. The interactions between induced innovation and the effects of trade policy give a set of “LeChatelier effects” comparing short run versus long run market equilibrium. We investigate how induced innovation can reduce the adverse effects of tariffs on trade, and influence the effects of quotas on corresponding quota rents. The analysis presents new LeChatelier results that apply globally, i.e. under any discrete change in trade policy.

Three months before his untimely death in Paris in July 1912, Henri Poincaré formulated the conjecture that Planck’s action element could (should) be regarded as constituting a “véritable atome”, i.e. an “atom of motion”, whose integrity arises from the fact that the “points” it contains are equivalent to one another from the standpoint of probability. In this paper we investigate the possibility that this conjecture provides a clue to the origin and nature of dark matter.

Developing countries often face the challenge of managing continuously growing quantity of municipal waste. Waste is often disposed of by stockpiling and land filling because these have been found the cheapest waste disposal methods in the world. Unfortunately, these waste disposal methods are often source of visual pollution, water contamination and greenhouse effect gas emissions. Waste disposal by incineration has been found effective and now is one of the mostly used waste disposal method in several developed countries. Nevertheless, setting up appropriate waste incinerator requires a good of the combustion process. Unfortunately, direct studies on industrial facilities are not easily feasible because of technical issues and financial limitations. Studies and throughout testing frequently need to be carried out at laboratory scale. Work herein reported first overviewed operation conditions of the landfill facility in the town of Ouagadougou. In the second time for incineration simulation, batch experiments are carried out with a rotary kiln furnace to study the effects of the residence time on emissions of NO, NO2, CO, CO2 and SO2 in the atmosphere. For each rotation speed, emissions of NO, NO2, CO, CO2 and SO2 from the incineration of a household combustible fraction model waste consisting of wood (53%), cardboard (25%) and plastics (22%) have been recorded. The lifespan of the land filling facility with incineration has been estimated. Our work show that it may be improved up to roughly three times that of simple land filling. Diversity Leadership: Influence of Ethnicity, Gender, and Minority Status  [PDF]

Abstract: Leadership research is often silent about how race and ethnicity influence the exercise of leadership and does not include the experiences of racial/ethnic minority leaders. Leaders from five racial/ethnic groups within the US were surveyed on their endorsement of leadership dimensions as defined by the GLOBE studies and the influence of their race, ethnicity and gender on the exercise of leadership in this exploratory study. While all leaders endorsed common leadership dimensions, cultural variation emerged on a factor consistent with a humane orientation and collaborative leadership style. Leaders of color and women leaders strongly embraced their ethnic and gender identities compared with White male leaders. These social identities together with lived experiences associated with minority status were perceived as influencing their exercise of leadership, presenting both challenges and strengths. Differences in the leadership profile of this diverse leadership sample with the Anglo group in the GLOBE studies suggest the importance of examining diversity in leadership. Conceptualizations of leadership need to be inclusive of the social identities and lived experiences that leaders and followers both bring to the contexts of leadership.

The purpose of this paper is to present for the first time an elementary summary of a few recent results obtained through the application of the formal theory of partial differential equations and Lie pseudogroups in order to revisit the mathematical foundations of general relativity. Other engineering examples (control theory, elasticity theory, electromagnetism) will also be considered in order to illustrate the three fundamental results that we shall provide successively. 1) VESSIOT VERSUS CARTAN: The quadratic terms appearing in the “Riemann tensor” according to the “Vessiot structure equations” must not be identified with the quadratic terms appearing in the well known “Cartan structure equations” for Lie groups. In particular, “curvature + torsion” (Cartan) must not be considered as a generalization of “curvature alone” (Vessiot). 2) JANET VERSUS SPENCER: The “Ricci tensor” only depends on the nonlinear transformations (called “elations” by Cartan in 1922) that describe the “difference” existing between the Weyl group (10 parameters of the Poincaré subgroup + 1 dilatation) and the conformal group of space-time (15 parameters). It can be defined without using the indices leading to the standard contraction or trace of the Riemann tensor. Meanwhile, we shall obtain the number of components of the Riemann and Weyl tensors without any combinatoric argument on the exchange of indices. Accordingly and contrary to the “Janet sequence”, the “Spencer sequence” for the conformal Killing system and its formal adjoint fully describe the Cosserat equations, Maxwell equations and Weyl equations but General Relativity is not coherent with this result. 3) ALGEBRA VERSUS GEOMETRY: Using the powerful methods of “Algebraic Analysis”, that is a mixture of homological agebra and differential geometry, we shall prove that, contrary to other equations of physics (Cauchy

The “3 Genomic Numbers” Discovery: How Our Genome Single-Stranded DNA Sequence Is “Self-Designed” as a Numerical Whole  [PDF]

This article proves the existence of a hyper-precise global numerical meta-architecture unifying, structuring, binding and controlling the billion triplet codons constituting the sequence of single-stranded DNA of the entire human genome. Beyond the evolution and erratic mutations like transposons within the genome, it’s as if the memory of a fossil genome with multiple symmetries persists. This recalls the intermingling of information characterizing the fractal universe of chaos theory. The result leads to a balanced and perfect tuning between the masses of the two strands of the huge DNA molecule that constitute our genome. We show here how codon populations forming the single-stranded DNA sequences can constitute a critical approach to the understanding of junk DNA function. Then, we suggest revisiting certain methods published in our 2009 book “Codex Biogenesis”. In fact, we demonstrate here how the universal genetic code table is a powerful analytical filter to characterize single-stranded DNA sequences constituting chromosomes and genomes. We can then show that any genomic DNA sequence is featured by three numbers, which characterize it and its 64 codon populations with correlations greater than 99%. The number “1” is common to all sequences, expressing the second law of Chargaff. The other 2 numbers are related to each specific DNA sequence case characterizing life species. For example, the entire human genome is characterized by three remarkable numbers 1, 2, and Phi = 1.618 the golden ratio. Associated with each of these three numbers, we can match three axes of symmetry, then “imagine” a kind of hyperspace formed by these codon populations. Then we revisit the value (3-Phi)/2 which is probably universal and common to both the scale of quarks and atomic levels, balancing and tuning the whole human genome codon population. Finally, we demonstrate a new kind of duality between “form and substance” overlapping the whole human genome: we will show that—simultaneously with the duality between genes and junk DNA—there is a second layer of embedded hidden structure overlapping all the DNA of the whole human genome, dividing it into a second type of duality information/redundancy involving golden ratio proportions.

This paper aims at the development of an approach integrating the fuzzy logic strategy for a glucose and insulin in diabetic human optimal control problem. To test the efficiency of this strategy, the author proposes a numerical comparison with the indirect method. The results are in good agreement with experimental data.
