Os espa?os/tempos da pesquisa sobre o professor
Carvalho, Janete Magalhes;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97022002000200006
Abstract: the article analyzes how the issue of the teacher appears in the brazilian scientific literature. it is based on the discourse found at the brazilian society for the progress of science (sbpc) meetings, a society that congregates scientists from all areas of knowledge, and is representative of the scientific production of teachers and graduate students from various brazilian regions and institutions. the work makes use of a historical-documental approach; its sources of information are the abstracts published in the society's annals of 2001 and from the 1980s. results show: a. an extraordinary increase in the number of papers on the teacher, and the continuing evidence of their institutional (public university) and regional (southeastern) origin; b. a change of emphasis in the themes, from the education of higher education teachers to the pedagogical practice that takes place in the elementary school everyday life; c. a change in the methodological approach, from the exploratory-descriptive studies to the critical research-action concerned with the intervention in the elementary school everyday life. the article asserts the negation of the spaces/times of the scientific production on the teacher, because spaces/times are actions of historical agents, exhibiting exchanges and collective sharing, and not the determination of the "proper place" of the researcher and/or of "stamped authorship". the discourses presented seemed, each one of them, to occupy their isolated "proper place", preventing their understanding as the whole of the work on the issue of the teacher, failing to reveal the fabric of a collective theme with its genesis in the spaces/times of the academy in its relationship with the social and educational reality of brazil.
O n?o-lugar dos professores nos entrelugares de forma??o continuada
Carvalho, Janete Magalhes;
Revista Brasileira de Educa??o , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-24782005000100008
Abstract: this article analyses the systems of representation of teachers, elected to participate as delegates in the working group on teacher formation and valorisation during the seminar on educational policy held in the state of espírito santo, to discuss the processes of continuing formation developed by the state secretariat of education. it uses in its analytical framework the categories of non-place, place, space-times and shared communities, based on works of lefebvre (1983), augé (1994), certeau (2001), and santos (2000), among others. the methodology is based on data collection by means of questionnaires including open and closed questions. the results indicate that the teachers' system of representation points to the need to install processes of continuing formation directed towards the "utopia" of constituting a school collective that surpasses, by means of shared communities, the non-place occupied by the teachers up until now.

It uses in its analytical framework the the position held by the media in the general economy of symbolic goods, we start from the hypothesis according to which the educational practices of teachers and other social agents are shaped by a given social construction of reality, that is, by principles and views of education imposed, generally in a subtle fashion, by journalists and the general social space.

Educa??o e Pesquisa , 2002,
Incontinentia pigmenti presenting as hypodontia in a 3-year-old girl: a case report

Journal of Medical Case Reports , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1752-1947-3-116
Abstract: We report the case of a 3-year-old girl with ophthalmologic and neurologic disturbances, cutaneous manifestations and hypodontia. Since the patient did not present more damaging manifestations such as neurologic and/or ophthalmologic problems, her most severe complications were related to dental anomalies. The importance of integrated dental treatment, which combines pediatric dentistry, orthodontics and conventional prosthesis, is emphasized.Hypodontia is a frequent finding in incontinentia pigmenti, and dentists should be aware of this condition in order to help with the diagnosis.Incontinentia pigmenti (IP) or Bloch-Sulzberger syndrome is a rare X-linked dominant genodermatosis which mainly affects women. The disease is systemic and involves tissues of ectodermic and mesodermic origin including cutaneous tissue, teeth, eyes and the central nervous system (CNS), amongst other organs [1-4]. The name incontinentia pigmenti is related to the histological characteristics of the disease, that is, melanin incontinence by melanocytes in the basal epidermal layer and its presence in the superficial dermis in the final stage of the disease [5].IP is a single-gene disorder caused by mutations in the NEMO/IKK-γ gene. The function of NEMO, a 23-kb gene consisting of 10 exons, is to permit cells to respond to external signals such as growth factors [5]. This gene encodes a protein that regulates the function of various chemokines, cytokines and adhesion molecules, and is essential for protection against tumour necrosis factor-induced apoptosis [1,5,6].The inheritance of a mutant copy of this X-linked gene is generally lethal in antenatal males. Although there are many case reports of men with IP submitted to mutation analysis, none of these patients has been shown to carry the common NEMO deletion. Several studies have demonstrated the presence of hypomorphic NEMO alleles, a finding suggesting that less severe NEMO mutations permit the survival of affected men [6,7]. There are

Abstract: objective: to report the experience of the city department of health in belo horizonte (smsa/bh), state of minas gerais, brazil, with the use of information resources management (irm) to develop a health information system. methods: in this case study we reviewed documents describing initiatives in the area of information, the mechanisms used to enable these initiatives, and the results achieved with a management system focused on the implementation of an electronic medical records system in the period from 2003 to 2008. this process is described and analyzed from the perspective of irm. results: the system contributed to a change in the health care model, resulting from the electronic integration of 103 basic health units, 9 specialized units, and 503 family health teams, with emphasis on information that was relevant for the family health program. conclusions: the following irm components were effectively implemented as part of the electronic system: creation of a single locus for the areas of information technology and information, potential leveraging of information technology, and establishment of a strategic forum for information-related decision-making. one limitation refers to the use of strategic information for long-term decision-making.
Estimation of Tree Biomass, Carbon Stocks, and Error Propagation in Mecrusse Woodlands  [PDF]
Tarquinio Mateus Magalhes, Thomas Seifert
Open Journal of Forestry (OJF) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojf.2015.54041
Abstract: We performed a biomass inventory using two-phase sampling to estimate biomass and carbon stocks for mecrusse woodlands and to quantify errors in the estimates. The first sampling phase involved measurement of auxiliary variables of living Androstachys johnsonii trees; in the second phase, we performed destructive biomass measurements on a randomly selected subset of trees from the first phase. The second-phase data were used to fit regression models to estimate below and aboveground biomass. These models were then applied to the first-phase data to estimate biomass stock. The estimated forest biomass and carbon stocks were 167.05 and 82.73 Mg·ha-1, respectively. The percent error resulting from plot selection and allometric equations for whole tree biomass stock was 4.55% and 1.53%, respectively, yielding a total error of 4.80%. Among individual variables in the first sampling phase, diameter at breast height (DBH) measurement was the largest source of error, and tree-height estimates contributed substantially to the error. Almost none of the error was attributable to plot variability. For the second sampling phase, DBH measurements were the largest source of error, followed by height measurements and stem-wood density estimates. Of the total error (as total variance) of the sampling process, 90% was attributed to plot selection and 10% to the allometric biomass model. The total error of our measurements was very low, which indicated that the two-phase sampling approach and sample size were effective for capturing and predicting biomass of this forest type.

Health (Health) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/health.2012.48075
Abstract: Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a disseminated plasma cell tumor caused by the proliferation of a single plasma cell clone which results from the production of monoclonal immunoglobulin, most commonly class G (IgG). MM is a cancer of the elderly, with a mean age at diagnosis of 68 years. A 79-year-old white patient sought the outpatient clinic of the Discipline of Stomatology, S?o José dos Campos Dental School, UNESP, because of a fracture associated with an osteolytic lesion in the right ascending ramus of the mandible. In view of the clinical-radiographic findings, exploratory fine needle aspiration (FNA) of the lesion was performed and the sanguinolent material obtained was submitted to the preparations of smears for cytology analysis. The diagnosis of MM was based on laboratory and radiographic findings. FNA cytology analysis of the lesion permitted a diagnostic hypothesis of MM.
Cria??o de questionário para detec??o de comportamentos atípicos em bebês
Habib, Es;Magalhes, LC;
Brazilian Journal of Physical Therapy , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-35552007000300002
Abstract: introduction: regulatory disorders (rds) are manifested by sensorimotor, sleep, feeding and adaptation abnormalities in the first three years of life, which seem to indicate future child development problems. there is evidence that rds are related to attention, learning and behavioral problems that are observed at school age. therefore, it is important to invest in resources that enable their early detection. the objective of this study was to describe the process of creating a questionnaire to detect atypical behavior suggestive of rds, among 6 to 12-month-old infants. method: the instrument was developed in two stages: (a) planning and constructing the test and (b) content validity examination through an expert panel consisting of researchers and professionals with recognized experience in the field. results: the data indicated that the topic is relevant and that, according to the scores from the panel, the items in the questionnaire are easily observed (96.8%), clearly written (94.5%), assess important aspects of behavior (89.6%) and can potentially detect atypical behavior in 6 to 12-month-old infants (85.4%). conclusion: based on this study, the items were reviewed, resulting in a questionnaire with 50 items that will be applied experimentally in future work. it is expected that the questionnaire will be useful for early detection of problems that affect a great number of children.
