Abstract: the objectives of the present study were to investigate the influence of liming and mineral and organic fertilization on yields of cv. 'montenegrina' tangerines (citrus deliciosa tenore) grafted onto poncirus trifoliata raf. the grove was planted in july of 1988 on a dark-red podzolic (rhodic paleudult) soil. the experiment was set up in randomized blocks design composed of nine treatments and four replicates, with three plants per plot. the treatments were: control (without liming and fertilizers); soil acidity neutralization to ph 6,5 before planting; annually poultry manure and liming; annually cattle manure and liming; annually n and k fertilizers and liming; annually n and k fertilizers, liming and p fertilizer before planting; annually n, p and k fertilizers and liming; annually n, k and double the rate of p, and liming; annually n, p and k fertilizers without liming. the results showed that p application before planting were sufficient to maintain adequate fruit yield up to eight years after planting. the increases of leaf n contents was positively related to increases in production and to decreases of the average fruit weight. the ammonium sulphate application acidifies the soil, and requires a greater quantity of liming support.

Abstract: in order to reduce early fruit drop and increment fruit production of 'monte parnaso' oranges (citrus sinensis [l.] osbeck), during the season 2001/2002 orange trees from an 11 years old orchard grafted onto poncirus trifoliata (l.) raf. located in butiá, rio grande do sul, brazil, were submitted to the following treatments: 1) control (no girdling and no growth regulator sprays); 2) girdling of branches after 10 days of petal drop; 3) girdling of branches after june drop; 4) 5 mg.l-1 of ga3 sprayed 10 days after petal drop; 5) 15 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d sprayed at the end of june drop; 6) 50 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d sprayed at the end of june drop; 7) 10 mg.l-1 of ga3 plus 15 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d sprayed on may 14th, 2001 and may 11th, 2002; 8) combination of treatments 2 and 3; 9) combination of treatments 2, 3 and 7. the experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with 5 replicates and 3 trees as experimental units. the results indicate that spraying 5 mg.l-1 of ga3 10 days after petal drop increase fruit weight production but reduce fruit average weight in relation to other treatments that enhances the fruit production; spraying 15 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d in november after june drop reduce fruit juice content; and to have higher fruit production one of the following procedures are recommended: girdling of branches or spraying 5 mg.l-1 of ga3 10 days after petal drop, spraying 15mg.l-1 or 50 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d in november after june drop or spraying orange trees with 10 mg.l-1 of ga3 plus 15 mg.l-1 of 2,4-d in may.

Abstract: the mandarin 'montenegrina' (citrus deliciosa ten.) yield from plants propagated either by grafting or cutting was evaluated at the 'universidade federal do rio grande do sul' experimental agronomic station, southern brazil, from 1993 to 1998. three rootstocks were used in the grafted plants. the rootstocks studied were: 'swingle' citrumelo [citrus paradisi macf. x poncirus trifoliata (l.) raf.] 'troyer' citrange (citrus sinensis x p. trifoliata) and trifoliate orange (p. trifoliata). the work was done using a randomized blocks design, with four replicates and five useful plants per plot. the yield and fruits number per plant were evaluated from 1993 to 1998. the 1995 yield was not significative due to alternation. 'swingle' citrumelo rootstock promoted higher productive efficiency in 'montenegrina' mandarins. trifoliate orange decreased the vegetative development but induce low productive efficiency in 'montenegrina' mandarins. cutting was a worse plant propagation strategy than grafting when 'swingle' citrumelo and 'troyer' citrange were used as rootstocks.

Abstract: A tangerineira-'Montenegrina' (Citrus deliciosa Ten.), devido às boas características de sabor, conserva o e colheita tardia dos frutos, é muito apreciada e cultivada no Rio Grande do Sul. Os pomares comerciais s o praticamente formados por mudas enxertadas sobre Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf. Devido à escassez de informa es relativas à combina o desta cultivar com outros porta-enxertos, bem como sua propaga o por estaquia, esta pesquisa objetivou estudar o comportamento inicial de plantas enxertadas sobre citrange 'Troyer' (Citrus sinensis (L.) Osb. x P. trifoliata), citrumelo 'Swingle' (C. paradisi Macf. x P. trifoliata) e P. trifoliata e de plantas propagadas por estaquia. O experimento foi instalado na Esta o Experimental Agron mica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, em junho de 1989, delineado em blocos casualisados, com cinco plantas úteis por parcela e quatro repeti es. Os resultados compreenderam as primeiras safras ocorridas de 1993 a 1998. O citrumeleiro 'Swingle' foi o porta-enxerto que melhores resultados apresentou, aumentando a eficiência produtiva da tangerineira-'Montenegrina', cultivada na Depress o Central do Rio Grande do Sul, sendo que o Poncirus trifoliata diminuiu o desenvolvimento vegetativo das copas e induziu baixa eficiência produtiva. A propaga o por estaquia n o ofereceu vantagens em rela o à enxertia sobre citrumeleiro 'Swingle' e citrangeiro 'Troyer'.
Controle químico do cancro cítrico em plantas jovens sob manejo convencional e organico

Abstract: the objective of the present work was to evaluate the development of the citrus rootstock poncirus trifoliata, severity of citrus canker, caused by xanthomonas citri pv. citri and the control of this disease with copper sprays, in conventional and organic management systems, at the centro de forma??o da emater, located in montenegro, rio grande do sul. plants were artificially inoculated with the bacteria. to control citrus canker, different sources of copper as well as concentrations and number of sprays were tested. in the organic system the bordeaux mixture was applied while in the conventional system copper oxichloride was sprayed. plants trunk diameter, dry matter of the rootstocks and number of canker lesions on leaves and branches were evaluated in both systems. citrus canker incidence on the rootstocks was equally intense, and the seedlings development was similar in both systems, but the budded plants grew better at the conventional system. copper treatments were not effective in controlling citrus canker at the rootstocks due the high inoculum concentration. on the budded plants, with low inoculum concentration, both the bordeaux mixture and the copper oxichloride controlled the disease, and the better treatments were when 0.3% metallic copper was applied with interval of 14 days. to improve citrus canker control by bordeaux mixture on organic systems, there is a need of efficient control strategies of the citrus leaf miner.

Abstract: growing peaches is of high economic importance in south of brazil and the state of rio grande do sul is the biggest brazilian producer. largest part of the orchards are located in the southern half. one of the main problems of peach production for fresh consumption in this area is the reduced size of the fruits. another problem is the short harvesting window, which brings difficulties to commercialization. girdling and/or ringing of branches might be used to increase fruti size and eventually extend the harvesting period. the present review intends to gather data regarding the most adequate period to apply treatments, to understand the physiological aspects and problems associated with these practices on stone fruit trees. girdling and ringing of stone fruit trees might be useful to improve quality and anticipate harvest period of early ripening cultivars. it is necessary to conduct local studies for different species and cultivars. recomendations should be specific for each situation and girdling and ringing together with other pratices to induce early ripening might help to anticipate harvest and ameliorate organoleptic of the fruit.

Abstract: the peach industry is of great economic importance in southern brazil. the state of rio grande do sul is the major peach producer in the country. about 50% of the production areas of the state are located in its southern half. the main problem of peach production is the very concentrated harvest season. fruit size is also a problem. therefore the objectives of the present work were to increase fruit size and to spread the harvesting period of peaches cv. diamante by the application of 3,5,6-tricloro-2-piridil-oxiacetic acid (3,5,6-tpa; free acid and amine alcohol) or 2,4-diclorofenoxipropionic acid (2,4-dp; ester) as well as associate these chemicals with and without ringing of branches. the evaluations were performed in the season 1999/2000 on plants at the experimental agricultural station of federal university of rio grande do sul, located in eldorado do sul, latitude 30o39's, longitude of 51o06'w and altitud of 46 meters. the following treatments were applied in a randomized block design with 4 replications and one plant as experimental unit: 1) 10 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa amine alcohol 2) 20 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa amine alcohol 3) 30 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa amine alcohol 4) 20 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa, amine alcohol plus ringing of branches; 5) 30 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa free acid; 6) 30 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa free acid plus ringing of branches; 7) 25 mg.l-1 of 2,4-dp; 8) 50 mg.l-1 of 2,4-dp; 9) 75 mg.l-1 of 2,4-dp; 10) 50 mg.l-1 of 2,4-dp plus ringing of branches; 11) ringing of branches in september and 12) control, with no treatment at all. auxin application does not increase total fruit production of peach trees. however, auxin treatments, specially 3,5,6-tpa free acid, anticipated peach harvest for about 20 days in comparison to control trees. the treatments with 30 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa free acid result in increments of diameter and length in comparison to, but are not significantly diffent from all other treatments. the treatments 20 mg.l-1 of 3,5,6-tpa amine alcohol and 75 mg.l-

Abstract: O cultivo de pessegueiros é uma atividade de grande importancia econ mica no Sul do Brasil, onde se destaca o Estado do Rio Grande do Sul como grande produtor brasileiro, sendo que 50% dos pomares se encontram na Metade Sul do Estado. Um dos principais problemas do pessegueiro é o tamanho dos frutos e a produ o em épocas concentradas que dificultam a comercializa o. Com o intuito de aumentar o tamanho e expandir o período de colheita do fruto, estudou-se o efeito de aplica es de auxinas e da execu o da incis o anelar (I.A.) em ramos do pessegueiro 'Diamante'. A avalia o foi realizada no ano agrícola de 1999-2000, na Esta o Experimental Agron mica da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), situada em Eldorado do Sul-RS, na latitude 30o39'S, longitude 51o06'W e a altitude de 46 metros. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com quatro repeti es e uma planta por parcela, com os seguintes tratamentos: 1) 10 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA álcool amina; 2) 20 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA álcool amina; 3) 30 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA álcool amina; 4) 20 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA álcool amina + (I.A.); 5) 30 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA ácido livre; 6) 30 mg.L-1 3,5,6-TPA ácido livre + (I.A.); 7) 25 mg.L-1 2,4-DP éster; 8) 50 mg.L-1 2,4-DP éster; 9) 75 mg.L-1 2,4-DP éster; 10) 50 mg.L-1 2,4-DP éster + (I.A.); 11) Incis o Anelar (I.A.) e 12) Testemunha. Os resultados demonstraram que os tratamentos com auxinas e (I.A.) n o aumentaram o peso total de frutos por planta. Os tratamentos com auxinas, especialmente o 3,5,6-TPA 30 mg.L-1 ácido livre, com (I.A.) ou n o, anteciparam a colheita em cerca de 20 dias. O tratamento com 30 mg.L-1 de 3,5,6-TPA ácido livre, associado à incis o anelar, resultou em incrementos de diametro e comprimento dos frutos em rela o à testemunha, porém n o diferiu estatisticamente dos demais tratamentos. Os tratamentos 3,5,6 TPA 20 mg.L-1 e 2,4 DP (éster) 75 mg.L-1 anteciparam a colheita em 20 dias e n o diferiram estatisticamente do tratamentos 30 mg.L-1 3,5,6 TPA ácido livre. A distribui o dos frutos de primeira categoria foi superior para os tratamentos 30 mg.L-1 3,5,6 TPA ácido livre + (I.A.) e 20 mg.L-1 de 3,5,6-TPA (álcool amina), embora n o diferindo estatisticamente da testemunha.
Anelamento e incis o anelar em fruteiras de caro o

Abstract: O cultivo de pessegueiros é uma atividade de grande importancia econ mica no Sul do Brasil, e o Estado do Rio Grande do Sul se destaca como o maior produtor brasileiro. Grande parte dos pomares se encontram na Metade Sul do Estado. Um dos principais problemas da cultura para o consumo de frutas in natura é o tamanho reduzido das mesmas e a produ o concentrada, que dificultam a comercializa o. O anelamento e/ou a incis o anelar de ramos pode ser usada, com o intuito de aumentar a massa média das frutas e antecipar o período de colheita. Esta revis o busca encontrar dados referentes à época de execu o, cuidados necessários, problemas associados e aspectos fisiológicos do anelamento e incis o anelar de ramos em fruteiras de caro o, principalmente pêssegos, ameixas e nectarinas de maior express o comercial no sul do Brasil. O anelamento e/ou a incis o anelar torna-se uma prática útil para melhorar a qualidade da fruta e antecipar a colheita de cultivares de matura o precoce. Contudo, faz-se necessário a realiza o de estudos locais para as diferentes espécies e cultivares. A prática da incis o anelar é mais recomendada pela facilidade de execu o e com resposta semelhante ao anelamento. A época mais indicada para a realiza o da incis o anelar é na fase de lignifica o do endocarpo. Recomenda es devem ser específicas para cada situa o e o anelamento, em conjunto com outras práticas, poderá promover a antecipa o da matura o e contribuir para melhorar a qualidade organoléptica das frutas.
