Texto & Contexto - Enfermagem , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-07072011000100011
Abstract: the objective of this study is to identify the conceptions of nurses who work with pediatric oncology concerning how their training and the further search for knowledge influences their professional practice. it is a qualitative, exploratory type study with semi-structured interviews applied to six nurses. the results were submitted to thematic analysis, which converged to the category, "subsidies that influence the pediatric oncology nursing care production". the results show that pediatric oncology performance demands professionals with responsibility, commitment, adequate preparation, and sensitivity to take care of the child at hand. care production has been grounded in the individual experiences of nurses and individual pursuit of knowledge, demonstrating the difficulties encountered in the training process and the importance of professional training. it is believed that these findings may support nursing training with a problematzing perspective and be able to promote comprehensive, humane, and efficient care for children diagnosed with cancer.

Abstract: Objectives: question nurses with pediatric oncology experience which connection is made between practice and the search for knowledge production in this area. Method: study of qualitative approach of exploratory type. The data collection technique was applied with semi-structured interview with six nurses that work in a hospital specialized in the treatment of cancer. The empirical material was submitted to thematic analysis. The project was approved by the Committee of Ethics in Research of the University Hospital Lauro Wanderley of the Federal University of Paraiba (Protocol 0124/2009) and complied with the requirements of resolution 196/96. Results: respondents nurses reported that have sought the knowledge to justify the practice in Pediatric Oncology, through specialization courses, research or professional interdependence. Continuing education in high complexity services is still an ongoing challenge for many realities so specialization and updating courses have been shown as important means for professional training. Conclusion: the process of construction of knowledge in the field of professional performance is crucial to provide care with wisdom, skill and dignity.

Sba: Controle & Automa??o Sociedade Brasileira de Automatica , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-17592012000200002
Abstract: a methodology for the robust control design of a class of bioreactors operating in fed-batch mode is proposed. firstly, a general model is presented to describe the growing dynamics of the bacteria escherichia coli and the yeast saccharomyces cerevisiae cultures, which are the most employed microorganisms applied in biotechnological industry. from this model, the paper proposes a control law that regulates the by-product concentration in small levels (i.e., close to zero) aiming to maximize the biomass concentration. to this end, the nonlinear dynamics of the bioreactor is rewritten in terms of time-varying parameters (quasi-lpv approach) in order to apply the linear matrix inequality framework for designing the free dynamics resulting from a partial feedback linearizing strategy. the proposed design conditions provide the robust stability of the closed-loop system while ensuring some performance w.r.t. disturbance signals. to verify the behavior of the closed-loop system, several simulation based tests are carried out to evaluate the controller performance against some recent strategies proposed in the specialized literature
