Abstract: The effect of an educational intervention by attendance and at distance on the knowledge of nurses about pressure ulcer (PU) was verified. An experimental research with a post-test control group was undertaken. A randomized sample of 43 nurses in a Control Group (CG) (N = 20) was submitted to an educational intervention by attendance and an Experimental Group (EG) (N = 23) was submitted to an intervention at distance. Data were collected between January and April 2012 in three phases, which were: location, invitation, registration and adaptation of the nurses to Moodle, educative intervention and post-test. The mean number of correct answers on the posttest among the nurses who participated in the intervention by attendance was 34.0 (sd = 3.3), against 36.2 (sd = 2.7) for the nurses in the distance education intervention. This difference in means was statistically significant (p = 0.019). The research evidenced that continuing education in nursing through distance education (DE) can be effective due to its practicality and interactivity and because it allows nurses in clinical practice to decide on the best time and place to access the content and improve their knowledge about PU.

Revista Brasileira de Zootecnia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-35982012000100001
Abstract: the effects of different diets and dietary transition on the performance and morphology of the digestive tract of pacu larvae fed two commercial formulated diets and an experimental microencapsulated diet produced by internal gelation were evaluated. four-day old pacu larvae received the following treatments: only artemia nauplii in increasing amount during the experiment (positive control); larvae maintained at fasting (negative control); three types of formulated diets throughout the experiment (experimental microencapsulated diet, commercial diet nrd1.2/2.0, inve, usa, and diet poli-peixe 450f, polinutri, brazil); and three weaning protocols in which artemia nauplii were given from the 1st to 6th days, six days of co-feeding (artemia nauplii + the respective formulated diet), and only respective diets formulated after this period. the experiment was conducted for 23 days in a completely randomized design, with periodical evaluations of growth and digestive system. survival rate was determined at the end of the experiment.the best performances of growth and survival, as well as the organogenesis of the digestive tract, were verified for the animals which received live feed. the larvae at weaning treatments induced intermediate growth and survival, which did not differ statistically between them. considering the treatments that received only formulated diets as first feed, the polinutri diet was the unique that showed alive larvae at the end of experiment. none of the formulated diets are adequate as initial exogenous food for pacu larvae. during the weaning, the microencapsulated experimental diet provides growth and survival performances similar to those obtained with the commercial diets.

Abstract: in this study, we evaluated the hepatitis b virus (hbv) genotype distribution and hbv genomic mutations among a group of human immunodeficiency virus-hbv co-infected patients from an aids outpatient clinic in s?o paulo. hbv serological markers were detected by commercially available enzyme immunoassay kits. hbv dna was detected using in-house nested polymerase chain reaction and quantified by cobas amplicor. hbv genotypes and mutations in the basal core promoter (bcp)/pre-core/core regions and surface/polymerase genes were determined by sequencing. among the 59 patients included in this study, 55 reported prior use of lamivudine (lam) or tenofovir. hbv dna was detected in 16/22 patients, with a genotype distribution of a (n = 12,75%), g (n = 2,13%), d (n = 1,6%) and f (n = 1,6%). the sequence data of the two patients infected with genotype g strongly suggested co-infection with genotype a. in 10 patients with viremia, lam-resistance mutations in the polymerase gene (rtl180m + rtm204v and rtv173l + rtl180m + rtm204v) were found, accompanied by changes in the envelope gene (si195m, sw196l and si195m/se164d). mutations in the bcp and pre-core regions were identified in four patients. in conclusion, genotype g, which is rarely seen in brazil, was observed in the group of patients included in our study. a high prevalence of mutations associated with lam-resistance and mutations associated with anti-hbs resistance were also found among these patients.

Open Journal of Preventive Medicine (OJPM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojpm.2013.36056
Abstract: The aim of this work was to study little active and sedentary women through physical assessments using anthropometric measurements and exercise testing using the Naughton and Bruce protocols. Approximately 53 women were evaluated: Group 1—comprised of 17 completely sedentary women, aged 25-58 years, mean age 44.4 years, and Group 2—comprised of 36 women who answered doing physical activities once or twice a week (low active), aged 28-54 years, mean age 39.5 years. The results Group 1— high weight, body mass index showing overweight, heart rate above the target areas of your training, i.e., above 85% effort. Systolic blood pressure reached a high level in the seventh stage with 21 minutes of effort (177.3) and diastolic (92.7). Group 2—normal weight, body mass index recorded is considered thin, heart rate heart zones above the target of your training, i.e., above 85% effort also. Systolic blood pressure reached the highest level in phase 1 recovery (156.75). Diastolic blood pressure recorded pressure levels considered normal for the type of work done by the group. The values reported for the double product are considered normal for the type of effort made by both groups. Conclusion: The participants from group 1 are able to join physical activity programs from the results presented, specifically due to weight, BMI, heart rate and blood pressure. The participants from group 2 require more days of practice of physical activities and longer hours to improve the levels of heart rate and blood pressure.

Krug, C . A;Mendes, A. J. T.;
Bragantia , 1941, DOI: 10.1590/S0006-87051941000600002
Abstract: 1.
