Revisiting the Classics to Recover the Physical Sense in Electrical Noise  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper shows a physically cogent model for electrical noise in resistors that has been obtained from Thermodynamical reasons. This new model derived from the works of Johnson and Nyquist also agrees with the Quantum model for noisy systems handled by Callen and Welton in 1951, thus unifying these two Physical viewpoints. This new model is a Complex or 2-D noise model based on an Admittance that considers both Fluctuation and Dissipation of electrical energy to excel the Real or 1-D model in use that only considers Dissipation. By the two orthogonal currents linked with a common voltage noise by an Admittance function, the new model is shown in frequency domain. Its use in time domain allows to see the pitfall behind a paradox of Statistical Mechanics about systems considered as energy-conserving and deterministic on the microscale that are dissipative and unpredictable on the macroscale and also shows how to use properly the Fluctuation-Dissipation Theorem.

Abstract: After a criticism on today’s model for electrical noise in resistors, we pass to use a Quantum-compliant model based on the discreteness of electrical charge in a complex Admittance. From this new model we show that carrier drift viewed as charged particle motion in response to an electric field is unlike to occur in bulk regions of Solid-State devices where carriers react as dipoles against this field. The absence of the shot noise that charges drifting in resistors should produce and the evolution of the Phase Noise with the active power existing in the resonators of L-C oscillators, are two effects added in proof for this conduction model without carrier drift where the resistance of any two-terminal device becomes discrete and has a minimum value per carrier that is the Quantum Hall resistance Rk=h/q2 Ω

Abstract: The origin of the Johnson noise of resistors is reviewed by a new model fitting in the Fluctuation-Dissipation framework and compared with the velocity noise in Brownian motion. This new model handling both fluctuations as well as dissipations of electrical energy in the Complex Admittance of any resistor excels current model based on the dissipation in their conductance. From the two orthogonal currents associated to a sinusoidal voltage in an electrical admittance, the new model that also considers the discreteness of the electrical charge shows a Cause-Effect dynamics for electrical noise. After a brief look at systems considered as energy-conserving and deterministic on the microscale that are dissipative and unpredictable on the macroscale, the arrow of time is discussed from the noise viewpoint.

INVAP's Nuclear Calculation System

Abstract: Since its origins in 1976, INVAP has been on continuous development of the calculation system used for design and optimization of nuclear reactors. The calculation codes have been polished and enhanced with new capabilities as they were needed or useful for the new challenges that the market imposed. The actual state of the code packages enables INVAP to design nuclear installations with complex geometries using a set of easy-to-use input files that minimize user errors due to confusion or misinterpretation. A set of intuitive graphic postprocessors have also been developed providing a fast and complete visualization tool for the parameters obtained in the calculations. The capabilities and general characteristics of this deterministic software package are presented throughout the paper including several examples of its recent application. 1. Introduction INVAP utilizes a proprietary software package to design nuclear installations such as research reactors, radio-isotopes production reactors, and nuclear power plants. With every project, the codes became more flexible and user-friendly to the point that the two graphic postprocessors provide intuitive and self-explanatory 1D, 2D, and 3D (currently in development) representation of the variables involved in the calculation and the results obtained. This software package includes the following.(i)CONDOR,??a??cell??code??which performs neutronic calculation of fuel assemblies of nuclear reactor cores and produces sets of data, like the homogenized and condensed cross-sections to be used in the reactor (or core) code.(ii)CITVAP, a reactor code which performs neutronic burnup-dependent calculation of nuclear reactor cores, calculating the nuclear parameters associated with several states of the reactor taking into account the feedback of many thermal-hydraulic parameters. INVAP has a nodal reactor code in development which uses automatic pinpower reconstruction.(iii)ESINLM, a nuclear data library manager which performs the update and upgrades of the nuclear data required. (iv)HXS, a library manager which provides the link library between the cell code and the reactor code allowing the user to create or modify the data library to be used in the reactor code.(v)POSCON and FLUX, two graphic postprocessors which enable the user to view in a fast and easy way the calculated parameters of both the cell code and the reactor code and export information and graphics from the respective databases.(vi)Several utility programs that serve specific functions to ease the interface with the user by graphically

Abstract: the paper engages double taxation from an economic and a constitutional perspective. it first explains double taxation and its consequences with a brief analysis about its efficiency. then, it addresses the subject of the tragedy of the commons and the tragedy of the anticommons, applying it to double taxation. it later evaluates if there is a constitutional rule or principle that prohibits local double taxation and deals with tax co-participation systems as a mean to avoid it. finally, it analyzes the relationship between the alleged prohibition of double taxation and tax law principles, and applies the said economic considerations to this phenomenon.

Abstract: the presence of the short-tailed hawk (buteo brachyurus) in the argentine chaco is poorly known and is based on very few records. in this paper i present nine new records for chaco, formosa and santiago del estero provinces, the latter one representing the first provincial record. short-tailed hawk appears not to be so rare nor occasional in the argentine chaco as suggested in the current literature, but it would be a regular inhabitant of the oriental and occidental districts. i also suggest that the dark morph could be commoner in this area than in other areas like misiones province and southern brazil.

Abstract: the academic performance measured each year by simce shows that results differ depending on various social attributes. most studies on this topic show the relevance of social class. this research extends the analysis of class to another form of social stratification such as gender, as both categories have an impact on students' skills and educational abilities which are formally included in the educational field. we conclude that, in the sites surveyed, inequality of educational privileges has perpetuated under these two variables, evidencing an educational system which discriminates primarily against girls in conditions of greater social vulnerability.
