Coutinho, Maria da Penha de Lima;Franken, Ieda;
Psicologia: Ciência e Profiss?o , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1414-98932009000300003
Abstract: nowadays the expression “life quality” is getting an increasing interest of professionals and researchers from the most varied human knowledge fields, especially on health services together with professionals and users. the aim of this article is to present the results of a research about the social representations of health professionals about life quality and its practices in the public service. it is an exploratory study developed in jo?o pessoa/pb, based on the social representations’ theory and instrumented by a semi-structured interview. the data collected were processed and analysed by the technique of content analysis (bardin, 2002) and dimensioned by categories that revealed the objective and subjective dimensions of these representations. regarding the public service, it was clear that a direct association with the difficulties and obstacles that public service presents are of little value to society and to its manager institutions.
Migra??o e qualidade de vida: um estudo psicossocial com brasileiros migrantes
Franken, Ieda;Coutinho, Maria da Penha de Lima;Ramos, Natália;
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-166X2009000400002
Abstract: the objective of this study was to analyze the social representations of 51 brazilian immigrants (73% female and 27% male) living in the city of geneva, switzerland, about the quality of life and migration. the free word association test was employed. the data collected were processed by the software tri-deux-mots, and were analyzed using factorial correspondence analysis. the results showed that the variables of gender and period of migration contributed with higher values for the meaning of the factors. the similarities and differences in the representational content were observed in the different groups, which evidenced a communication and orientation of behavior according to the socio-demographic variables established, benefiting their identity and testifying to their justifying function.

Abstract: the population movements of people who are more or less organized are a phenomenon as old as humanity. but the migration of millions of people who immigrate today is becoming a process with so intense stress levels that exceeds their capacity of adaptation. this study aims to assess the mental health and analyze the social representation of the constructs immigration, immigrant, mental health and the future of brazilian immigrants who live in the city of geneva, switzerland. this is an exploratory multimethod approach held with a sample of 266 participants who answered the bio-social demographic questionnaire, the instrument for self-reporting questionnaire scrining and the semi-directed interview. the questionnaire data were analyzed using the statistical package for social sciences (spss.for windows.16), using descriptive and inferential statistics and the content of the interviews through the analysis of bardin (1997/2002). the results showed that the variable time of immigration has favored the emergence of deficits in the mental health of participants. this study concluded that in this context of international immigration the social representations and the mental health of the immigrants are influenced by the duration or by the time of immigration.
Graciliano Ramos e a revista Novidade: contra o lugar-comum
Lebensztayn, Ieda;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142009000300029
Abstract: having as purpose to understand the formation of graciliano ramos' work, the focus of this essay is the presentation of the magazine novidade (maceió, 1931). the study of this magazine discloses how the northeastern group which graciliano belonged to took a stand against platitudes in the art and politics. the novelist published in novidade the chapter 24 of caetés and the chronicles "sertanejos", "chav?es" (unknown), "milagres", and "lampi?o". since these texts, graciliano formalized in all his work, of singular aesthetic and ethical rigor, the impasse of the education/of the letters in a world of violence, central subject of the magazine.
Graciliano Ramos, por Otto Maria Carpeaux: 120 anos, homenagem em dobro
Lebensztayn, Ieda;
Estudos Avan?ados , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-40142012000300023
Abstract: i present two otto maria carpeaux's essays about graciliano ramos, which permit us to know better the critic and the novelist: an homage to the writer's sixty years and an article published when he died. showing graciliano's interest on dante alighieri, carpeaux, accurately and with poetic images, captures the regional and universal strength of the brazilian modern novel created by the writer, "closed circle" in which the social and introspective faces artistically blend.

Galáxia , 2011,
Abstract: Resumo: Biopolítica, mídia e auto-ajuda: segredo ou sintoma?
Ieda Rhoden
Revista Mal-estar e Subjetividade , 2009,
Abstract: This article presents a revision and synthesis of deriving concepts of the Psychology of Leisure of the North American and the Theory of the Idleness (recreation) developed in Spain. It approaches the idleness as psychosocial phenomenon whose distinguishing characteristics can be perceived by the proper citizen. The concepts from state of idleness or leisure and experience of idleness or leisure are distinguished, differentiating them in function of the intensity and depth of the experience and the attributes in it implied. To follow, the experiences are distinguished peak and of flow, pointing out the similarities between such phenomena and the subjective experiences of leisure. Finally, the main attributes or constituent qualities of the experiences of leisure in a perspective humanist are presented, called here also of constructive leisure perception of freedom, meaning intrinsic, enjoys, rupture, introspection, interpersonal meeting, human development, relaxation, challenge, auto-expression and auto-accomplishment.

ABSTRACT This article draws on my extensive studies on science fiction cinema as a form of narrative which represents contemporary world. The work focus specifically the questions related with the human body and the technology which emerges from sci fi films generated under the sign of medical visual culture. Contemporary filmic science fiction narratives give way to refletions over present mutating societies and to questioning how far, given the deep human-machine interaction, we are still human. Keywords: Science fiction; cinema; technoscience; body; subjectivity.
An implicit method for the finite time horizon Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman quasi-variational inequalities
Masashi Ieda
Mathematics , 2013,
Abstract: We propose a new numerical method for solving the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman quasi-variational inequality associated with the combined impulse and stochastic optimal control problem over a finite time horizon. Our method corresponds to an implicit method in the field of numerical methods for partial differential equations, and thus it is advantageous in the sense that the stability condition is independent of the discretization parameters. We apply our method to the finite time horizon optimal forest harvesting problem, which considers exiting from the forestry business at a finite time. We show that the behavior of the obtained optimal harvesting strategy of the extended problem coincides with our intuition.
A dynamic optimal execution strategy under stochastic price recovery
Masashi Ieda
Quantitative Finance , 2015,
Abstract: In the present paper, we study the optimal execution problem under stochastic price recovery based on limit order book dynamics. We model price recovery after execution of a large order by accelerating the arrival of the refilling order, which is defined as a Cox process whose intensity increases by the degree of the market impact. We include not only the market order but also the limit order in our strategy in a restricted fashion. We formulate the problem as a combined stochastic control problem over a finite time horizon. The corresponding Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman quasi-variational inequality is solved numerically. The optimal strategy obtained consists of three components: (i) the initial large trade; (ii) the unscheduled small trades during the period; (iii) the terminal large trade. The size and timing of the trade is governed by the tolerance for market impact depending on the state at each time step, and hence the strategy behaves dynamically. We also provide competitive results due to inclusion of the limit order, even though a limit order is allowed under conservative evaluation of the execution price.
