Abstract: Studies of coordinated compounds containing ruthenium (Ru2+ and Ru3+) have shown very effective in vitro results for the treatment of cancer and neglected diseases such as leishmaniasis. In this paper, we present the synthesis of the compound [Ru(Cl)3(H2O)2(gly)], which was characterized by spectroscopic (Ultraviolet-visibleand infrared) and thermal analysis (Thermogravimetry/Derived Thermogravimetry and Thermogravimetry/Differential Thermal Analysis). The analysis of the compound in the Ultraviolet-visibleregion showed a 290 nm band λmax (ε= 1.685 × 103 L·cm-1·mol-1), attributed to the ligand metal charge transfer (LMCT). The spectroscopy (IR) showed major vibrational bands at δa (-COO-) 1664 cm-1, δs (-COO-) 1388 cm-1, δs (\"\") 1571 cm-1 and δs (CCN) 889 cm-1. The thermal analysis by TG/DTG and TG-DTA indicated that the complex has five consecutive stages of decomposition: at 115°C (TG = 12.18%; Calculated = 11.32%) H2O (coordinating water), exothermic peaks at 230°C, 307°C, 440°C and 463°C due to oxidative decomposition of glycine, followed by the formation of RuClO residue at 665°C (TG = 41.11%; Calculated = 40.81%). The thermal characterization suggested the stoichiometry of the complex [RuCl3(H2O)2(gly)]. The antileishmanial capacity of this compound was also evaluated and the results indicated a 31% decrease in the parasitic infection of macrophages and a 1.5 to 3 fold reduction in the number of parasites per cell after treatment with 100 μg/mL of the complex. These results support the possible use of this compound as a therapeutic alternative against medical and veterinary parasites.

Abstract: the combination of sexuality and education goes backward to the beginnings of the brazilian educational institution. many projects and initiatives concerning sexual education have pervaded brazil's educational history, but facing gender perspectives has always been a troublesome matter. during the 90's, after the appearance of the national curricular parameters, both sexuality and gender themes have more frequently inhabited brazil's educational discourses and practices, although not in a less conflicting manner. the present text discusses the "epistemological" paths that have characterized discourses about sexuality in brazil's school system throughout the xxth century. those discursive and institutional productions concerning sexuality were analyzed by means of foucault's concepts of sexuality dispositive and biopolitics. contemporaneously, i try to demonstrate some (mis)understandings concerning sexual diversity by means of some concepts from queer theory, which seemed fit to discuss some docent speeches as well as some official documents related to the matter of gender and sexuality in brazil's schools.

Abstract: the larva of miathyria simplex (rambur, 1842) is described, illustrated and compared to that of m. marcella (selys, 1857). a key for identification of the south american libellulidae larvae, wich show dorsal spines on abdominal segments iii to viii, is presented.

The aim of this article is to analyze the position of the Catholic Church in the production of primary forms of association of people with deafness in Brazil, which led to the consolidation of Brazilian Sign Language and forms of civil and political association. For this, the universe of empirical analysis is composed with the relation between this institution and deaf education, the vast network of catholic congregations founding of special schools as well as the trajectories of actors with power, connected the Catholic Church, in positions of political representation in deafness.

Abstract The text reflects upon the institutionalization of modern education by taking Foucault’s concepts of discipline, disciplining society and biopolitics as its main guiding threads. Departing from this reflection on the formation of the modern educational institution, understood as the object of a historical research temporally localized, the text then aims at questioning the transformations that occurred in the last decades and that have transformed the modern educational project with the event of what could be called as control pedagogy. This aspect of the matter was discussed by means of Foucault’s concepts of governamentality and biopolitics as well as Deleuze’s concept of control society. Besides offering a diagnosis of the present, the text also provides an essay on the possibilities of an education process centered around the notions of difference and queer pedagogy.
