Trials , 2009, DOI: 10.1186/1745-6215-10-98
Abstract: In the comparison of Efficacy between COroflex PLEASe? ANd Taxus? stent(ECO-PLEASANT) trial, approximately 900 patients are being prospectively and randomly assigned to the either type of Coroflex Please? stent and Taxus Liberte? stent via web-based randomization. The primary endpoint is clinically driven target vessel revascularization at 9 months. The secondary endpoints include major cardiac adverse events, target vessel failure, stent thrombosis and angiographic efficacy endpoints. The ECO-PLEASANT trial is the study not yet performed to directly compare the efficacy and safety of the Coroflex Please? versus Taxus Liberte? stent. On the basis of this trial, we will be able to find out whether the Coroflex Please? stent is non-inferior to Taxus Liberte? stent or not.ClinicalTrials.gov number, NCT00699543.Previous randomized trials have shown the efficacy of a slow-release polymeric sirolimus-eluting stent (Cypher?, Cordis, Warren, NJ, USA), paclitaxel-eluting stent (Taxus?, Boston Scientific, Natick, MA, USA), and zotarolimus-eluting stent (Endeavor?, Medtronic, Minneapolis, MN, USA) over bare metal stents in reducing neointimal hyperplasia, late luminal loss, and angiographic restenosis leading to decreased target lesion revascularization [1-11] The Paclitaxel-eluting Coroflex Please? stent is a newly developed drug eluting stent using the Coroflex? stent platform combined with the drug paclitaxel contained in a polymer coating[12]In the PECOPS I, which was one-arm observational study, the results of Coroflex Please? stent were within the range of other Paclitaxel-eluting coronary stents [12,13] Compared with binary restenosis rate of 7.9% in Taxus IV trial, Coroflex? Please stent showed 7.8% of restenosis rate[7] The 3.1% of 30 day MACE rate is within the range of other trials with stents eluting Paclitaxel or Sirolimus. The 6 month MACE rates in PECOPS I were 8.0%, which was similar to 7.8%, and 8.5% in Taxus II MR and SR, respectively[6] In Taxus IV, 9 month f
Ileal angiomyolipoma manifested by small intestinal Intussusception

World Journal of Gastroenterology , 2009,
Abstract: Angiomyolipomas (AMLs), a form of benign mesenchymal hamartoma, arise primarily in the kidneys of patients with or without tuberous sclerosis. Extra-renal AMLs are very rare and are most commonly found in the liver. AMLs of the small intestine are exceedingly rare. Here, a case of a 28-year-old man, who presented with ileal intussusception caused by ileal AML is reported. The clinicopathological and immunohistochemical findings of ileal AMLs are discussed and the literature on small intestinal AMLs is reviewed.
Estimating the Recurrence Periods of Earthquake Data in Turkey  [PDF]
Hande Kon?uk, Serpil Akta?
Open Journal of Earthquake Research (OJER) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/ojer.2013.21002
Abstract: In this paper, the 231 earthquake data of magnitude 5 and higher, between north (39.00o-42.00o) and east (26.00o-45.00o) coordinates in Turkey from July 12, 1900 to October 23, 2011 are statistically analyzed. The probability density function and cumulative function of the magnitude are derived. It is shown that magnitude random variable is distrib-uted as the exponential distribution. The recurrence periods is also calculated. Recurrence period is estimatedapproxi-matelytwo times a year for an earthquake having magnitude 5.2. Using the Gutenberg-Richter function, the relation between magnitude and frequency is represented.
Quasi-Static and Dynanmic Deformation Behaviors of Medium-Carbon Steels in a Wide Temperature Range  [PDF]
Byoungchul Hwang
Materials Sciences and Applications (MSA) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/msa.2011.26076
Abstract: This paper presents a study of the quasistatic and dynamic deformation behaviors of conventional and microalloyed medium-carbon steels in a wide temperature range. As strain rate increased, the flow stress increased at room temperature, but occasionally did not at elevated temperatures. The flow stress of the microalloyed steel containing precipitates was less sensitive to strain rate at room temperature than that of the conventional steel due to a relatively larger activation length. Microstructural observation of the steels deformed after compression test indicated that inhomogeneous deformation became more serious with increasing strain rate and temperature without fracturing in the highly localized region.

International Journal of Molecular Sciences , 2013, DOI: 10.3390/ijms140917511
Abstract: Voiding dysfunction is a common complication after radical pelvic surgery. To reduce this complication, nerve-sparing radical pelvic surgery was introduced. However, several patients experienced voiding difficulty despite nerve-sparing radical pelvic surgery. Thus, we investigated the functional and molecular changes of the bladder in rats, which demonstrated voiding dysfunction induced by nerve damage during nerve-sparing radical pelvic surgery. Male rats were used and assigned to normal, sham-operated, and bilateral crushing nerve bundles from major pelvic ganglion (MPG) to bladder group. After one, two, and four-week crushing injury, significantly decreased contractile response and increased connective tissue of the detrusor were observed and these results were reliable findings with voiding difficulty following nerve-sparing radical pelvic surgery. After crushing injury, significantly increased M2 muscarinic receptor expression was observed and this might be regarded as the compensatory response. However, M3 muscarinic receptor expression was not significantly changed. The expression of RhoA, ROCK-α, and ROCK-β was significantly increased after one, two, and four-week crushing injury. From these results, the down-regulation of RhoA/Rho kinase pathway might lead to the decreased bladder contractility after crushing injury of nerve bundles from MPG to the bladder despite of the compensated up-regulation of M2 muscarinic receptor.
