Matias, Hugo Juliano Duarte;
ágora: Estudos em Teoria Psicanalítica , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1516-14982012000100006
Abstract: this paper presents elements in the freudian thought to point how his theory not only accepts and contains considerations about tragedy, but also locates the psyche in a theoretical system that depends on the tragic meaning of life. some aspects of freud's work links with sophocles' text - oedipus tyrannus - and are considered to clarify this dimension of the freudian thought and lead to a construction of a dialogue between freud aristotle. the aristotelian concept of, fault, is the nucleus of a possible articulation of his conception of tragedy and what concerns the tragic dimension of life in the freudian thought.
Jovens em situa??o de rua: espa?o, tempo, negocia??es de sentido
Matias, Hugo Juliano Duarte;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822011000200004
Abstract: this is an ethnographic research, conducted over three months, in natal/rn, with a homeless group (about 11), prevailingly young people between 16 and 18 years old. two items of research: the determination a) of physical and social environment of streets and b) discursive landscape, built in sense negotiations with other groups, on these youths and their lives. the socio-historical construction of the social condition of street was analyzed, also the space practices of these youths and other groups with whom they interact. the space practices are different for each group, generating conflict among them. these two analyses are inseparable of the understanding of production of meaning by and about these youths, inside social practices that they are involved. those analyses explain the production of insecurity and hostility feelings among these youths and other groups too.

Psicologia: Reflex?o e Crítica , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-79722010000200006
Abstract: recently, researches with street children have dedicated more attention to the socialization processes which structure their daily lives and to the meaning of their social practices, leading to the need of new methods as the ethnographic alternative, for instance. this paper reports the field access process occurred in an ethnographic research - performed with a group of about 11 street children, aged between 16 and 18 years old - in order to emphasize the complexity of that process. the access negotiation determines many displacements and requires researcher's flexibility, under several demands concerning the form of participation and involvement with the group. negotiations of meaning, in such situations, are a challenge for ethnographic researches done with the mentioned population, besides offering new opportunities for technical invention and ethics experience.

Desenvolvimento sustentável: um discurso sobre a rela??o entre desenvolvimento e natureza
Matias, Hugo Juliano Duarte;Pinheiro, José de Queiroz;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822008000100015
Abstract: this study presents the analysis of definitions of sustainable development, as a basic element of interpretative repertoires for the relation between development and nature. three hundred and fifty five students of several courses of a federal university answered a questionnaire, providing the definitions, thereafter submitted to content analysis to examine the concept of nature and its relation with development. three discursive matrixes were found: (a) the "economic bias" one - the necessity of development subordinates the need of nature preservation nature is a "natural resources"; (b) the "good intentions" discourse - the necessity of development subordinates the necessity of preservation - nature is "fragility"; (c) the "empty" - one development and nature are separate. it is concluded that the attribution of meaning to nature is important to explain how people think about the relation between development and nature, and that these discursive matrixes may justify social practices.

Abstract: background and objectives: the development of subcutaneous emphysema involving face, neck, and thorax has been well-documented in cases of odontologic procedures, head and/or neck surgery, and craniofacial trauma. its development without known damage to the mucosa is rare. this report describes the case of a patient who developed emphysema without an obvious lesion. case report: this is a male patient, healthy, undergoing epidural blockade and local anesthesia associated with sedation for lipoaspiration of the abdomen and submentonian region. intercurrences were not observed during the procedure until a nasopharyngeal cannula was placed for oxygen administration. we also describe an alternative approach for its resolution. conclusions: although rare, subcutaneous emphysema can have serious repercussions. manual lymphatic drainage can be an option for the treatment of this aesthetical complication
Stem and leaf anatomy of Plectranthus neochilus Schltr., Lamiaceae
Duarte, Márcia do Rocio;Lopes, Juliano Ferreira;
Revista Brasileira de Farmacognosia , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-695X2007000400013
Abstract: plectranthus neochilus schltr. is an aromatic herb named " boldo" or " boldo-gambá" and employed for treating hepatic insufficiency and dyspepsia in folk medicine. this paper has investigated its stem and leaf anatomy, in order to contribute for the medicinal plant identification. the botanical material was prepared according to standard microtechniques. the stem has quadrangular transection and, in secondary growth at the level analyzed, shows uniseriate epidermis and numerous trichomes. the glandular ones are capitate and peltate. the former has short unicellular or long multicellular stalk and uni- or bicellular head. the latter presents short stalk and eight-celled ovoid head. the non-glandular trichomes are multicellular, uniseriate and coated with granular cuticle. it is observed angular collenchyma, cambia forming phloem outward and xylem inward, and perivascular fiber caps next to the phloem. the blade has uniseriate epidermis coated with striate cuticle, diacytic stomata on both surfaces, numerous trichomes similar to the stem ones, and homogeneous mesophyll. the midrib shows one or two collateral bundles and the petiole has many of them distributed as an open arc.

Journal of Software Engineering and Applications (JSEA) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jsea.2015.86029
Abstract: Important in many different sectors of the industry, the determination of stream velocity has become more and more important due to measurements precision necessity, in order to determine the right production rates, determine the volumetric production of undesired fluid, establish automated controls based on these measurements avoiding over-flooding or over-production, guaranteeing accurate predictive maintenance, etc. Difficulties being faced have been the determination of the velocity of specific fluids embedded in some others, for example, determining the gas bubbles stream velocity flowing throughout liquid fluid phase. Although different and already applicable methods have been researched and already implemented within the industry, a non-intrusive automated way of providing those stream velocities has its importance, and may have a huge impact in projects budget. Knowing the importance of its determination, this developed script uses a methodology of breaking-down real-time videos media into frame images, analyzing by pixel correlations possible superposition matches for further gas bubbles stream velocity estimation. In raw sense, the script bases itself in functions and procedures already available in MatLab, which can be used for image processing and treatments, allowing the methodology to be implemented. Its accuracy after the running test was of around 97% (ninety-seven percent); the raw source code with comments had almost 3000 (three thousand) characters; and the hardware placed for running the code was an Intel Core Duo 2.13 [Ghz] and 2 [Gb] RAM memory capable workstation. Even showing good results, it could be stated that just the end point correlations were actually getting to the final solution. So that, making use of self-learning functions or neural network, one could surely enhance the capability of the application to be run in real-time without getting exhaust by iterative loops.
