Abstract: this study examined the effects of domain of task and the intrasession verbal descriptions, as promoters of the formulation of a rule. an experimental design with coupled group was used. the experimental group was exposed to different types of incomplete texts in three training conditions, to pass from one condition to another, the participants should show domain of task. the participants of coupled group for pass from one condition to another depended of the performance of the paired experimental participant. at the end of the training conditions, all participants were subjected to three transfer tests. both groups of participants reported the rule at the end of each session. results showed differences between groups in extrasituational test. a qualitative change was observed along of the conditions in both groups with regard to the rules reported. the results are discussed emphasizing the role played by the descriptions and the domain of the task and their relation with formulating general rules of performance.

Abstract: the effect of verbal descriptions and different amounts of consequences on the acquisition and transfer of a first order matching-to-sample response, as well as rule-formulation, was assessed. twenty undergraduate students were assigned to four groups, which differentiated regarding the inclusion of incomplete texts and feedback at the end of each session. the rules, wrote down at the end of each session, were analyzed using categories derived from previous studies. the effects were observed at the response acquisition during the trainings and tests. it is discussed that an effective performance does not always lead to precise verbal descriptions and the instructional effect of the incomplete texts upon the formulation of effective rules.

Arroyo Hernández, Rosalinda;Mares Cárdenas, Guadalupe;
Revista mexicana de análisis de la conducta , 2009,
Abstract: this study evaluated the effects of training ave types of contact with the relations between objects and their linguistic elaborations on reading adjustment performance of university students. the participants were exposed to an evaluation of reading adjustment, consistent of questions of different functional complexity, they were later assigned to one of ave experimental groups differentiated by the level of functional complexity of the training (contextual, supplementary, selective, referential substitutive and non-referential substitutive), a sixth group (control) did not have any training. this training was done to establish relations between the object (projectiles in movement) and linguistic expressions, the complexity of these relations changed between groups. later all groups were exposed to the second reading adjustment evaluation. results show that as the functional complexity of the object- linguistic expression relations increased the average percentage of correct responses increased, specifically in the substitutives groups. results are discussed emphasizing the factors that determine the probability of the structuring of behavior in complex levels.

Objective: Investigate the relationship between body satisfaction, attitudes toward body and obesity, diet quality and emotional health in a group of university students. The initial hypothesis was that attitudes to thinness and fear of obesity induces weight control behaviours and lower diet quality. Methods: 55 women of 19-25 years. The relationship between body mass index (BMI), diet quality (DQ), restrictive behaviours, eating attitudes (EDI-2, CIMEC) and attitudes toward obesity (AFA) was analyzed. Measures of health (SF-12) and emotional state (PNA) were also collected. Results: 10.9% of the sample had a diet classified as "poor", 83.6% "needs improvement" and 5.5% followed a "good" diet. Most of participants were dissatisfied with their weight even when their BMI was located in the normal range. Weight-restrictive behaviors were associated with risk attitudes to eating disorders, but DQ did not discriminate among high and low BMI groups, nor was related to attitudes. The m
Species diversity after prescribed burns at different intensities and seasons in a high altitude pinus hartwegii forest

Interciencia , 2008,
Abstract: in the ajusco volcano, in central mexico, prescribed burnings of low and high intensity were applied in march and may 2002, along with one unburned control for march and another for may, considering conditions of open stands and closed stands, with the objective of evaluating the vegetation response of the pinus hartwegii understory. samplings were conducted every three months during one year. number of herb and shrub species, density, covering, and frequency were recorded, and the simpson diversity index was calculated. according to a principal component analysis, the march prescribed burnings of low and high intensity in open stands separate from the other treatments. the t test showed that the march low intensity burns in open stands yielded a higher spring-diversity than the unburned control. for the shrub species diversity, the march and may high intensity burns in open stands formed a separated group. a c2 test revealed the species that appear preferably in burned areas. the results indicate that the use of prescribed burnings no later than march favor the richness and diversity of species of the understory.
