Methods: A two-stage, high-pressure homogenizer was used to yield a very fine monodispersed lipid nanosphere. The strategy of combining egg yolk phospholipid and nonionic emulsifier (Lutrol F 68 and Tween 80) as an emulsifier mixture was adopted to increase safety and tolerance. The final lipid nanospheres, in a lipophilic mixture consisting of three components, monostearin, medium-chain triglycerides and soya oil, were evaluated for physicochemical properties, such as particle size, surface morphology, drug-entrapment efficiency, drug-loading capacity, lyophilization and in vivo drug-release behavior. Results: A monodispersed lipid nanosphere with a mean particle size ranging from 90 to 150 nm was achieved. The optimized injectable cryoprotectants for lipid nanosphere were sucrose (7.5%) and mannitol (7.5%), which can stabilize the particle size (LD50) at approximately 129 nm after reconstitution. The results show that the formulation can effectively administer anticancer drugs and thus improve patient quality of life. Conclusions: The novel lipid nanosphere complex developed is a useful anticancer drug delivery vehicle for parenteral administration. The formulation strategy has the potential for the development of further methods of drug delivery for a wide variety of anticancer drugs.

Abstract: The 3-partitioning problem is to decide whether a given multiset of nonnegative integers can be partitioned into triples that all have the same sum. It is considerably used to prove the strong NP-hardness of many scheduling problems. In this paper, we consider four optimization versions of the 3-partitioning problem, and then present four polynomial time approximation schemes for these problems.
Applications of a Streaming Video Server in a Mobile Phone Live Streaming System  [PDF]

Abstract: This paper describes the entire process of completing a multicast streaming media server and applying it to a cellphone live streaming system. By using the RTSP protocol, the streaming media server controls the connection of video capture client, data stream reception and processing as well as playback interaction. The media server can publish real-time data from a data acquisition terminal or a historical data file in the server to the Web so that users on the network can view all the videos through a variety of terminals anytime and anywhere, without having to wait for all the data downloaded completely. The streaming media server of the system is developed based on an open-source streaming media library Live555. The developed server can run on a Windows or a Linux system. The standard RTSP/RTP protocol is used and the video media format is H264. The paper mainly introduces the design of a streaming media server, including data processing for real time, designing a data source, the implementation of multi-acquisition end and multi-player operation, RTSP interaction and RTP packaging, and the setting up of the data buffer in the server. Experiment results are given to show the effect of the system implementation.
Five Glutathione S-Transferase Gene Variants in 23,452 Cases of Lung Cancer and 30,397 Controls: Meta-Analysis of 130 Studies

Abstract: Background Glutathione S-transferases (GSTs) are known to abolish or reduce the activities of intracellular enzymes that help detoxify environmental carcinogens, such as those found in tobacco smoke. It has been suggested that polymorphisms in the GST genes are risk factors for lung cancer, but a large number of studies have reported apparently conflicting results. Methods and Findings Literature-based meta-analysis was supplemented by tabular data from investigators of all relevant studies of five GST polymorphisms ( GSTM1 null, GSTT1 null, I105V, and A114V polymorphisms in the GSTP1 genes, and GSTM3 intron 6 polymorphism) available before August, 2005, with investigation of potential sources of heterogeneity. Included in the present meta-analysis were 130 studies, involving a total of 23,452 lung cancer cases and 30,397 controls. In a combined analysis, the relative risks for lung cancer of the GSTM1 null and GSTT1 null polymorphisms were 1.18 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.14–1.23) and 1.09 (95% CI: 1.02–1.16), respectively, but in the larger studies they were only 1.04 (95% CI: 0.95–1.14) and 0.99 (95% CI: 0.86–1.11), respectively. In addition to size of study, ethnic background was a significant source of heterogeneity among studies of the GSTM1 null genotype, with possibly weaker associations in studies of individuals of European continental ancestry. Combined analyses of studies of the 105V, 114V, and GSTM3*B variants showed no significant overall associations with lung cancer, yielding per-allele relative risks of 1.04 (95% CI: 0.99–1.09), 1.15 (95% CI: 0.95–1.39), and 1.05 (95% CI: 0.89–1.23), respectively. Conclusions The risk of lung cancer is not strongly associated with the I105V and A114V polymorphisms in the GSTP1 gene or with GSTM3 intron 6 polymorphism. Given the non-significant associations in the larger studies, the relevance of the weakly positive overall associations with the GSTM1 null and the GSTT1 null polymorphisms is uncertain. As lung cancer has important environmental causes, understanding any genetic contribution to it in general populations will require the conduct of particularly large and comprehensive studies.

This article tries to explore the feasibility of combing the basic concepts of Howard Gardner’s MI theory with the practice of college English teaching in order to develop the multiple intelligences on the part of learners and improve the quality of teaching as well as the comprehensive qualities of students.
