A Single Species Model with Symmetric Bidirectional Impulsive Diffusion and Dispersal Delay  [PDF]

Abstract: In the natural ecosystem, impulsive diffusion provides a more natural description for population dynamics. In addition, dispersal processes often involve with time delay. In view of these facts, a single species model with impulsive diffusion and dispersal delay is formulated. By the stroboscopic map of the discrete dynamical system and other analysis methods, the permanence of the system is investigated. Moreover, sufficient conditions on the existence and uniqueness of a positive periodic solution for the system are derived from the intermediate value theorem. We also demonstrate the global stability of the positive periodic solution by the theory of discrete dynamical system. Finally, numerical simulations and discussion are presented to validate our theoretical results.

Abstract: Measuring and characterizing peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing systems will benefit the optimization and management of P2P systems. Though there are a lot of measurement studies on BitTorrent almost in every important aspect, few of them focus on the measurement issues and the corresponding solutions, which can strongly influence the accuracy of measurement results. This paper analyzes the key difficulties of measuring BitTorrent and presents a measurement system with combination of active and passive ways, which can han-dle with the problems well and balance the efficiency and integrity. Then compared to other work, a more complete and representative measurement was performed for nearly two months and several characteristics are concerned: 1) there are diverse content sharing in BitTorrent system, but multimedia files that are larger than 100 MB are the most. 2) Distributed Hash Tables has indeed enhanced the ability of peer discovery though there are some pitfalls to be addressed. 3) Pieces are distributed uniformly after the early stage and there are few rare pieces. Furthermore, peer arrival rate shows a periodical pattern, which was not well mod-eled before. Then an improved model is proposed and the experiment results indicate that new model is fitted in with actual measurement results with high accuracy.
Quantification of the Impact of Seismic Anisotropy in Microseismic Location  [PDF]

Abstract: Seismic anisotropy in sedimentary rocks, due to either layered bedding or fracturing, may bias microseismic locations if unaccounted in velocity models. To quantitatively assess such biases, we have applied a nonlinear location method to synthetic travel time data in seven models from isotropy to different levels of VTI (Vertical Transverse Isotropy) and HTI (Horizontal Transverse Isotropy) cases. Synthetic waveforms are recorded at two vertical receiver arrays in a three-layer velocity model using a pseudo-spectral method. Both P and S wave arrivals are used to locate three events assuming an effective isotropic velocity model. The average location error is 59 m for isotropic case, about the size of the grid interval in the velocity model, and is 156 m (158 m), 237 m (244 m), and 258 m (265 m) for 5%, 10% and 15% VTI (HTI) cases, respectively. These results suggest that even 5% seismic anisotropy, if not properly accounted, can cause significant biases in microseismic event locations.
The Syntax-Semantics-Prosody Interface in Legislative Language  [PDF]

Abstract: Though Chinese and English legislative language share similarities in certain aspects, they contrast most sharply in their syntactic structures and representations, owing to a number of social, cultural and typological factors. Traditional works have directed most of their attention to the lexicon, i.e. the collection of technical terms which are indispensable to the working of law, and the analysis of idiosyncrasies of those terms. Not much effort, if any, has been at present devoted to the study of the syntactic properties of legislative language and the way syntactic computation interfaces with semantic layer, which, the author believes, play a more determinate role in the constructing and interpreting of legislative clauses. This paper first attempts to examine the syntax-semantics interface in Chinese and English legal clauses from the levels of recursion, locality of reference and the general principle of economy respectively, and then tries to study how the position and stress of a word affect the syntax-prosody interface and the information flow. In the end, it concludes that syntax is responsible for base meaning and while prosody highlights a part or parts of that meaning.

This paper analyzes the current status of financial support under the condition of economic transformation, puts forward the financial support measures for the development of Chinas economic transformation and lays a good foundation for building a good folk financial market environment.

Radiation Induced TLR-8 Expression and TGF-β/TNF-α Production in BV2 Microglial Cells

Abstract: Objective: To observe the radiation-induced TLR-8 mRNA expression and production of proinflammatory cytokines in BV2 microglial cells.Methods: TLR-8 mRNA expression and distribution in BV-2 cells was analyzed by fluorescent quantitative PCR and flow measurement at different time point (1, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 h) after a single 16 Gy dose of radiation, or at 24 h after various doses of radiation (2, 5, 10, 16, 20, 30 and 40 Gy).. ELISA was used to determinate the concentration of TNF-α and TGF-β in the supernatant of BV-2 cells.Results: The expression of TLR-8 mRNA in BV2 microglia cells was 0.000639 ± 0.00016, with 41.98% in the membrane and 32.08% in the cell. After 16 Gy radiation, the TLR-8 mRNA expression increased at 1h after radiation, with peak at 24 h. TLR-8 mRNA increased after 2 Gy radiation, and the value increased to top at 16 Gy. There was a steady increase in the concentration of TGF-β in the supernatant of BV2 microglial cells 48 h later. A slight effect on TNF-α was also found.Conclusion: The data suggests that TLR-8-induced activation of microglia and the release of TGF-β might be responsible for brain injury induced by radiation
Large-scale low-frequency rainfall regimes and their transition modes in summertime over China

Abstract: Seven large-scale low-frequency rainfall regimes (LFRRs) in summertime are identified for China in a 10-dimensional phase space by using a 40-year daily precipitation dataset. Corresponding to the local extrema of observed probability density in phase space, the LFRRs are characterized by the persistence and transitions that reflect the spread and jump features of low-frequency rainfall centers. The LFRRs are generally consistent with summer monsoon rainbelts on the intraseasonal timescale, and there exist the preferred transition relationships between the LFRRs. Four LFRRs’ transition modes (LFRRTMs), which are the dominant components of the interannual and intraseasonal variability of summer rainfall in China, are further induced. Analyses of atmospheric circulation system show that the anomalies of the subtropical high over the western Pacific (SHWP) and blockings in mid-high latitudes, the low-latitude circulation anomalies, and the wavetrains over the East Asia-Pacific region (EAPWs), play crucial roles in the occurrence and transitions of the LFRRs. Moreover, the evolution of the SHWP and blockings, the distribution and movement of the EAPWs, and the intraseasonal variability of the East Asian-Pacific jet stream may be principal factors of the formations of the LFRRTMs.
THE RELATIONSHIP OF COPING STYLES AND PATHOLOGICAL INTERNET USE OF MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS

Abstract: 通过问卷调查探究了589名初二及高二年级中学生的应对方式与病理性互联网使用(Pathological Internet Use,PIU)的关系。研究结果表明,PIU高分组被试较少采用问题解决这一应对方式,而可能更多采用幻想与发泄这二种应对方式;问题解决分数随PIU分数降低而上升,而幻想与发泄二种应对方式随PIU分数降低而降低。问题解决、幻想与发泄在不同PIU分组间的差异显著。因此较多使用问题解决这一应对方式,较少使用发泄与幻想两种应对方式,可能会减少互联网使用带给中学生的消极影响。
