Endotension: rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm
Amato, Alexandre Campos Moraes;Abraham, Flávio Amim;Kraide, Henrique Dini;Rocha, Leandro Teixeira;Santos, Ricardo Virginio dos;
Jornal Vascular Brasileiro , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1677-54492012000200016
Abstract: aortic endovascular exclusion technique called 'chimney' consists of placing stents through abdominal aortic visceral branches and a prosthesis that excludes the thoraco-abdominal aneurysm. stents and an aortic endoprosthesis are placed in the renal arteries. this method is primarily used when open surgery is too risky. the mechanism that provides aneurysm sac increase without the visible presence of endoleaks has not been fully elucidated. the expansion of the aneurysm sac, due to endotension, is difficult to diagnose, even with the use of advanced imaging tests. its diagnosis is made by exclusion. we present a case of a late complication in a high-risk patient after a 'chimney' endovascular procedure. following the surgery, the patient presented a ruptured aneurysm sac without a visible endoleak. a second intervention was not feasible due to the high risk of occluding all of the branches, and complicated by previous 'chimney'. endotension is a possible cause of aneurysm rupture and death.
Rastreando os direcionadores da performance organizacional: uma proposta metodológica
Fernandes, Bruno Henrique Rocha;
Cadernos EBAPE.BR , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S1679-39512005000100005
Abstract: this paper proposes a methodology to study the linkage between organizational performance drivers like internal resouces and competences, and organizational performance through its multiple perspectives like internal performance measures and its overall ability to meet financial and customer targets. firstly the methodology suggests the exam of the main variables related to firm performance and the design of casual maps. next data are collected according to that design and simplified using factorial analysis. then, statistical techniques like regression analysis and structural equation modelling are employed to investigate relationship among variables to confirm or not the assumed linkages. as an example, the methodology is employed in a firm with a hundred business units, all monitored with similar performance indicator measurement. in the example, some drivers like human competency showed no association with organizational performance, whereas drivers like tangibles resource density and employee satisfaction seemed to affected internal process productivity, customer satisfaction and financial targets.

Revista Tamoios , 2013,
Abstract This article is a presentation of the main results obtained through interviews granted by teachers of Geography, regarding the application of content provided by law 10,639. The analysis that will be presented seeks to demonstrate the difficulties highlighted by the teachers of this discipline with regard to the debate on the African continent in the school environment. We emphasize the latter as stage where the curriculum practiced is built well where it can be observed the actions of religious values ??- expressed through the practice of teachers, students and employees - in some cases, appear as factors that hinder development of the themes presented by the law. Key-Word: 10.639 Law; school environment; curriculum practiced; religious values.

American Journal of Analytical Chemistry (AJAC) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ajac.2012.33032
Abstract: The linearity, stability, accuracy and inter-day precisions of the assay method were evaluated in water, soil and rhizomes and leaves of Hedychium coronarium of the Zingiberaceae family. Mato Grosso do Sul is a predominantly agricultural state in Brazil and has many rivers and permanent and seasonal lakes, in which the Hedychium coronarium, an aquatic plant, is found the swampy environments. The prepared samples were analyzed quantitatively by High Performance Liquid Chromatography with PDA and UV detection for the presence of thiamethoxam. The thiamethoxam was recovered from these samples at rates ranging from 81.16% - 99.93%. The coefficient of variation in the quantitative analysis of the thiamethoxam was under 5%. The linearity of the method was determined by linear regression. The analysis of the samples spiked with known amounts of analyte demonstrated that the response was proportional to the concentrations of the samples with determination coefficients of r2 = 0.9992 (water and soil) and r2 = 0.9990 (leaves and rhizomes) for the linear range of the analytical calibration curves of the samples. The detection limit was 0.36 μg.L-1 and quantification limit was 1.2 μg.L-1 for thiamethoxam. The method was considered sensitive for quantification of the thiamethoxam in water, soil and rhizomes and leaves of Hedychium coronarium.

Abstract: Canine mammary tumors (CMT) are very common in female dogs, representing approximately 50% of all tumors in this species, but are highly uncommon in male dogs and are primarily related to hyperestrogenism. There is considerable scientific interest in the possible role of environmental contaminants in the etiology of mammary tumors, specifically in relation to synthetic chemical substances released into the environment to which living beings are either directly or indirectly exposed. In this study, the presence of pyrethroid insecticide was observed in adipose tissue adjacent to canine mammary tumors. High Precision Liquid Chromatography—HPLC was adapted to detect and identify environmental contaminants in adipose tissue adjacent to malignant mammary tumor in one male dog, Akita, 12 years old. After surgery, the mass was carefully examined for malignant neoplastic lesions. Five grams of adipose tissue adjacent to the tumor was collected to detect environmental contaminants. The pyrethroid was identified as tetramethrin, at 0.20 μg/g. This is the first report in which the environmental contaminant level was detectable in adipose tissue of this male dog with a malignant mammary tumor, by HPLC. Results suggest the possible involvement of pyrethroid in the canine mammary tumor carcinogenesis since this animal did not present any other tumor that could cause hyperestrogenism.
