Abstract: The concept of fractal and some applications of fractal in materials researchare described.Regular fractals are discussed first,followed by irregular fractals in naturaland physical phenomena.Different methods of determining fractal dimensions are given.Examples of application include:the kinetic growth of pyrogenic SiO_2 aggregates,phasetransformation in ion beam mixed thin films and fractured surface of tempered steels.

Abstract: The research on sensitizer for dye sensitized solar cells based on (metallo)porphyrin/phthalocyanine materials were reviewed, and experimental design and assembly method were advised. Latest progress and research status of sensitizer dyes based on metalloporphyrins applied in dye sensitized solar cells was summarized. The preparation and construction of sensitizer electrodes and dye sensitized solar cells based on metal organic frameworks (MOFs) of (metallo)porphyrin/phthalocyanine were projected.

Abstract: Genomic selection is more and more popular in animal and plant breeding industries all around the world, as it can be applied early in life without impacting selection candidates. The objective of this study was to bring the advantages of genomic selection to scallop breeding. Two different genomic selection tools Mix P and gsbay were applied on genomic evaluation of simulated data and Zhikong scallop(Chlamys farreri) field data. The data were compared with genomic best linear unbiased prediction(GBLUP) method which has been applied widely. Our results showed that both Mix P and gsbay could accurately estimate single-nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) marker effects, and thereby could be applied for the analysis of genomic estimated breeding values(GEBV). In simulated data from different scenarios, the accuracy of GEBV acquired was ranged from 0.20 to 0.78 by Mix P; it was ranged from 0.21 to 0.67 by gsbay; and it was ranged from 0.21 to 0.61 by GBLUP. Estimations made by Mix P and gsbay were expected to be more reliable than those estimated by GBLUP. Predictions made by gsbay were more robust, while with Mix P the computation is much faster, especially in dealing with large-scale data. These results suggested that both algorithms implemented by Mix P and gsbay are feasible to carry out genomic selection in scallop breeding, and more genotype data will be necessary to produce genomic estimated breeding values with a higher accuracy for the industry

Abstract: When a molybdenum sheet was heated properly at 900℃ in an oxidizing atmosphere,Mo_5O_(14) single crystals will grow.The size of the most coarse single crystal is up to 15×1.1mm and 310 nm thick as measured by Rutherford backscattering spectrometry.Some fractalstructure consisting of many molybdena whiskers were observed after heating at 750℃.Anapproach to explain the crystal growth and fractal structure has been discussed.

Abstract: The critical _d vahues ( _ ) of the γ/(γ+σ).γ/(γ+μ) and γ/(γ+γ') phase boundaries insome ternar alloy phase diagrams at various temperatures are calculated by averaging the _d values of sererai selected characteristic points at the phase boundaries.Approxmateequations for the temperature dependence of the critical _d of γ/(γ+σ).γ/(γ+μ) andγ/(γ+γ') phase boundaries are established.The accuracy of the analysis is discussed in detail.It is found for the first time that the average value of the bondorder _ at the phase boundaries ts also approximatelr a constant and therefore a criticalaverage bond order _ like - can be introduced for the analysts of phase stability

Abstract: BN films,synthesized by ion beam assisted deposition,were analysed by RBS,AES,IR spectra and TEM.Formatiom of c-BN phase was shown not only by IR spectra atabsorption peak of 1100 cm~(-1),but also by electron diffraction pattern.The results ofAES demonstrate an effect of N~+ implantation near the film surface.The deposited filmsconsist of three layers,i.e.,ion implantation layer,film layer and mixed intermediatelayer,according to the difference of concentration.The micro-Knoop hardness of the film is25—35 GPa.

Fractal Aggregation of Nonequilibrium Iodine

Abstract: A large number of particles evaporated from liquid iodine deposited on the wall of a glass container. The deposits demonstrate three structural shapes:globule chain,network formation,and dendrite. The globule chain displays clearly self-similar feature,and can be characterized by fractal geometry. The fractal dimension of the globule chain patterns ranges from D=1.50 to 1.75.The in situ sublimat- ing process of an iodine fractal aggregate was observed.It revealed reversal of the random growth process under nonequilibrium condition.The analytical results show that the nucleation-aggregation (NA) model can explain the growth process of iodine fractal aggregate.
Structure and Microtribological Mechanism of Teflon Deposited Film

Abstract: Teflon film was prepared by ion beam enhanced deposition method. The structure and microtribological properties were studied by PHI-5300, FT-IR, XRD and atomic force and friction force microscope (AFM/ FFM). The results show that the deposited Teflon is in crystalline state, and its structure is the same as the bulk Teflon. There are two periods in the friction and wear tests for Teflon film. When the load is less than 70 nN, the micro friction force is linear with the load, and the Teflon does not have the lubricity. But when the load is greater than 70 nN, the friction force of Teflon film will stay nearly constant, and worn marks will be created in the friction and wear process. The worn depth of Teflon film increases linearly with the load.
