Whirl Interaction of a Drill Bit with the Bore-Hole Bottom  [PDF]
Nabil W. Musa, V. I. Gulyayev, L. V. Shevchuk, Hasan Aldabas
Modern Mechanical Engineering (MME) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/mme.2015.53005
Abstract: This paper deals with the theoretic simulation of a drill bit whirling under conditions of its contact interaction with the bore-hole bottom rock plane. The bit is considered to be an absolutely rigid ellipsoidal body with uneven surface. It is attached to the lower end of a rotating elastic drill string. In the perturbed state, the bit can roll without sliding on the bore-hole bottom, performing whirling vibrations (the model of dynamic equilibrium with pure rolling when maximum cohesive force does not exceed the ultimate Coulombic friction). To describe these motions, a nonholonomic dynamic model is proposed, constitutive partial differential equations are deduced. With their use, the whirling vibrations of oblong and oblate ellipsoidal bits are analyzed, the functions of cohesive (frictional) forces are calculated. It is shown that the system of elastic drill string and ellipsoidal bit can acquire stable or unstable whirl modes with approaching critical Eulerian values by the parameters of axial force, torque and angular velocity. The analogy of the found modes of motions with ones of the Celtic stones is established. It is shown that the ellipsoidal bits can stop their whirling vibrations and change directions of their circumferential motions in the same manner as the ellipsoidal Celtic stones do. As this takes place, the trajectories of the oblate ellipsoidal bits are characterized by more complicated paths and irregularities.
Special Education in Saudi Arabia: History and Areas for Reform  [PDF]
Rashed A. Aldabas
Creative Education (CE) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2015.611114
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to examine and conduct a historical overview of special education in Saudi Arabia. Special education has existed in Saudi Arabia since 1958 and has made considerable progress in providing services to students with disabilities. However, there is still a need for improvement in educating students with disabilities and in the movement toward inclusive education. Providing free and appropriate public education for such students should be the purpose guiding special education in the country. This paper discusses the areas that need to be improved in order to ensure that students receive the best possible education within inclusive learning environments.
A Unified Equation of Interactions  [PDF]
Hasan Arslan
Open Journal of Microphysics (OJM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/ojm.2011.12005
Abstract: The aim of this study is to combine four fundamental forces in a single equation. Dirac equation is written by putting the Yukawa potential as a representation of the strong and gravitational forces. The ordinary terms seen in the Dirac Equation are treated as the representations of the electromagnetic forces. The Lagrangian of the weak local interaction of the charged particles is converted to the energy representation according to the virial theorem and is put in the equation. Thus four fundamental forces are combined in a unique equation.

Abstract:

Sustainable supply chain management has emerged as a key approach for enterprises aiming to become environmentally sustainable. The study will investigate the kinds of environmental management practices that are undertaken by companies in greening the supply chain and how these practices affect the environmental and operational performance of the companies. The study provides additional insight into the growing field of literature examining the relationships between environmental policies and operational performance.

Losses in Wireless ATM Networks  [PDF]
Hasan Harasis
Communications and Network (CN) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/cn.2013.53028
Abstract:

The standardized approach to Mobile ATM network handover is a hard backward or forward handover scheme with no guarantees for the integrity of the data stream. These handover functions are detailed in this paper and a more performant virtual connection handover protocol, using in-slot signaling techniques in order to facilitate loss less handover, is introduced. The QoS aspects related to this scheme are discussed and its OAM implementation is presented.

The Distances in the Stable Systems Due to the Virial Theorem  [PDF]
Hasan Arslan
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/am.2013.44094
Abstract:

The virial theorem is written by using the canonical equations of motion in classical mechanics. A moving particle with an initial speed in an n-particle system is considered. The distance of the moving particle from the origin of the system to the final position is derived as a function of the kinetic energy of the particle. It is thought that the considered particle would not collide with other particles in the system. The relation between the final and initial distance of the particle from the origin of the system is given by a single equation.

The Dirac Equation with the Scattered Electron Including Extra Potential Energy Comes from the Virial Theorem  [PDF]
Hasan Arslan
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2013.44078
Abstract:

The scattering of electron by a photon is a well-known reaction in physics. In this study, the change in the electron’s energy after the scattering is taken into account. The previous works are searched. In order to take into account this change in the electron’s energy in the equation of motion of the electron, the Dirac equation is used with the virial theorem. The scattered electron kinetic energy which is given to the electron by the loss in photon’s energy is related to the potential energy of the electron by the virial theorem which states that the potential energy is two times of the kinetic energy in minus sign. A first time application of the virial theorem on a scattered electron by a photon is included to the Dirac equation.

Capital Budgeting Techniques Used by Small Manufacturing Companies  [PDF]
Maruf Hasan
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2013.61005
Abstract:

Small companies account for 40% of Australian jobs and yet most of the studies on capital budgeting techniques have been focused on large firms. A mistake in their capital budgeting process could lead to disastrous consequences as they do not have the financial clout to recover from them. The purpose of the paper is to investigate where small manufacturing companies in Australia stand in regard to the use of capital budgeting techniques and risk analysis. The research concludes that while there is an indication of usage of the Payback Period with Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) techniques, there is a need for more frequent usage of risk analysis as well as management sciences which is found lacking in the capital budgeting process of small companies.

Some Possible Particles Decays from pp Collisions at LHC Experiment  [PDF]
Hasan Arslan
Journal of Modern Physics (JMP) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jmp.2014.511103
Abstract:

Some of the possible decays of pp collisions at LHC experiment are considered. The vector bosons mediating in the electroweak interactions and right-handed leptons except neutrinos are assumed to be the most resultant particles from the pp collisions. Neutrinos and anti-neutrinos will be observed when one-double electron charged vector bosons are the resultant particles. The charge conservation is thought to be the dominant factor of these decays. The amplitude transitions for Feynman diagram of these decays are written.
