Acta Crystallographica Section E , 2008, DOI: 10.1107/s1600536808025257
Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C7H10N)2[PtCl6], contains one independent protonated 2,6-dimethylpyridinium cation and half of a centrosymmetric [PtCl6]2 anion. The Pt atom has an octahedral coordination. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N—H...Cl and C—H...Cl hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supramolecular structure. There is a π–π contact between the pyridine rings [centroid–centroid distance = 4.235 (1) ].

Veterinary Research Forum , 2012,
Abstract: Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) of the O157:H7 serotype is a worldwide zoonotic pathogen responsible for the majority of severe cases of human EHEC disease. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of E. coli O157: H7/NM in raw meat samples from two provinces of Iran. During a period from March 2010 to March 2011. Two hundred and ninety five raw meat samples were collected from beef (n= 85), camel, (n= 50), sheep (n= 62), goat (n= 60), and water buffalo (n=38). Fourteen (4.7%) of the 295 samples were positive for E. coli O157. The highest prevalence of E. coli O157 was found in beef samples (8.2%), followed by water buffalo (5.3%), sheep (4.8%), camel (2.0%), and goat (1.7%). Of fourteen E. coli O157 isolates, only one was determined to be serotype O157: H7 while 13 were determined as serotype O157: NM. Of the 14 E. coli O157:H7/NM isolates, one, four, two, and one strains were positive for stx1, stx2, eaeA and ehlyA genes, respectively. The prevalence of this organism varied between seasons with the highest prevalence of E. coli O157 occurring in summer (9.3%). The results of this study showed that beef and water buffalo meat are a significant source for human EHEC E. coli O157:H7/NM infection in Iran. The data reported in this study provides some useful baseline in formation for future research such as molecular or epidemiologic works.

Health (Health) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/health.2016.815167
Abstract: In order to diagnose a major depressive disorder, patients must have at least 5 depres-sive symptoms out of 9 criteria, present for at least two weeks. Depressive symptoms include absence of concentration, fatigue and suicidal ideation. The intensity of de-pression symptoms affects the severity of depression and the degree of the impact on the quality of life. Major depressive disorders (MDD) are defined as a significant health problem, and are estimated to rise in prevalence in the future years. Immune cytokine, associated with major depression for instance, is the interleukin IL-6 and tu-mor necrosis factor (TNF-α) which is defined as pro-inflammatory cytokines, can ac-tivate an inflammatory response. The effects of other inflammatory cytokines on the central nervous system are of controversy. There is an increasing interest about the ef-fect of cytokines derived from innate immune system on the brain and behavior. Cytokines are defined as large sized proteins, mainly produced by immune cells. Two subtypes of cytokines exist: pro-inflammatory cytokines, facilitating inflammatory re-sponses and neural activities; and anti-inflammatory cytokines, inhibiting inflammatory processes. Besides microglia and astrocytes, immune cells such as monocytes, macrophages, and lymphocytes also produce cytokines. At the times of immunological alterations, infections or inflammation, cytokines will be in an activated form. The main goal of the current review study is to investigate the role of the immune system in the depression disorder.

Iranian Journal of Medical Sciences , 2009,
Abstract: Congenital fusion of the maxilla and the mandible is a rarecondition. The extent of the problem ranges from simple mucosaladhesion (synechia) to severe bony fusion (syngnathia). Here we present a patient with zygomatico-mandibular fusionwho was treated at neonatal and infancy periods at three differentstages without tracheostomy. Having had recurrence fortwo times, porcine grafting was performed as a novel procedureto increase the chance of success. Ultimately the patienthad uneventful outcome for 6 months after the last operation.

Journal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects , 2007,
Abstract: Background and aims. It is critical to have a proper knowledge of the normal anatomy of the pulp and its variations for the success of endodontic treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the canal configuration and the prevalence of C-shaped canals in mandibular first and second premolars in a North-Western Iranian population. Materials and methods. A total of 163 extracted mandibular first and 103 mandibular second premolars were injected with India ink and demineralized . They were made clear and transparent with methyl salicylate and the anatomy of their canal(s) was studied. Results. The results showed that 98% of mandibular first premolars had one root, 2% had two roots, 70.6% had one canal, 27.8% had two canals, 1.2% had three canals and the prevalence of C-shaped canals was 2.4%. All mandibular second premolars had one root, 80.5% had one canal, 17.5% had two canals and the prevalence of C-shaped canals was 2%. Conclusion. It is important that clinicians, before treatment of mandibular first and second premolars, pay complete attention to radiographs, have a true concept of the number of root(s) and canal(s), and prepare a correct access cavitiy.

Abstract: "nAbstract "n "nIntroduction: Polymorphism in genes involved in folate metabolism may cotribute to the susceptibility to acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). "nPatients and Methods: To examine the influence of polymorphism in thymidylate synthase (TS 28-bp repeat) and methionine synthase (MS A2756G) genes on the susceptibility to ALL, 73 children with ALL and 128 age and gender matched, unrelated healthy individuals from Kermanshah Province were studied. Detection of TS 28-bp repeat and MS A2756G polymorphisms were performed by PCR and PCR-RFLP, respectively. "nResults: The frequency of TS 2R allele in patients and controls were 41.5 and 38%, respectively (OR 1.4, 95%CI 0.76-2.56, P=0.27). The allelic frequency of G allele of MS was higher (25%) in patients compared with healthy subjects (23%) [OR 1.04, 95%CI 0.58-1.87, P=0.8]. Considering MS AA and TS 3R3R genotypes as references indication where that individuals with MS GG+TS 2R2R genotypes have 1.3-fold increase risk of ALL (OR 1.3, 95%CI 0.6-2.7, P=0.5). "nConclusions: For the first time, our study has determined the frequency of polymorphism in two genes involved in the folate metabolism in a homogenous ethnic group of ALL patients. It seems that neither TS 28bp-repeat nor MS A2756G polymorphisms might be risk factors for susceptibility to ALL in western Iran.
