Near-Infrared Light Scattering by Ice-Water Mixed Clouds

Abstract: Based on the Mie theory, the light scattering properties of clouds consisting of pure water, pure ice spheres and concentric water- ice spheres are studied in the near-infrared regions, respectively. We computed the single scattering albedo, phase function, and asymmetry parameters of water clouds, ice clouds, and ice-water mixed clouds. The near infrared reflectivity of the ice-water mixed clouds is computed by using the adding-doubling method and compared to the other two types of clouds. It is shown that it is possible to use the near infrared reflectivity to derive the microphysical characteristics of the clouds.
Sources of calcium in agonist-induced contraction of rat distal colon smooth muscle in vitro

Abstract: AIM: To study the origin of calcium necessary for agonist-induced contraction of the distal colon in rats.METHODS: The change in intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) evoked by elevating external Ca2+ was detected by fura 2/AM fluorescence. Contractile activity was measured with a force displacement transducer. Tension was continuously monitored and recorded using a Powerlab 4/25T data acquisition system with an ML110 bridge bioelectric physiographic amplifier.RESULTS: Store depletion induced Ca2+ influx had an effect on [Ca2+]i. In nominally Ca2+-free medium, the sarco-endoplasmic reticulum Ca2+-ATPase inhibitor thapsigargin (1 μmol/L) increased [Ca2+]i from 68 to 241 nmol/L, and to 458 (P < 0.01) and 1006 nmol/L (P < 0.01), respectively, when 1.5 mmol/L and 3.0 mmol/L extracellular Ca2+ was reintroduced. Furthermore, the change in [Ca2+]i was observed with verapamil (5 μmol/L), La3+ (1 mmol/L) or KCl (40 mmol/L) in the bathing solution. These channels were sensitive to La3+ (P < 0.01), insensitive to verapamil, and voltage independent. In isolated distal colons we found that in normal Krebs solution, contraction induced by acetylcholine (ACh) was partially inhibited by verapamil, and the inhibitory rate was 41% (P < 0.05). On the other hand, in Ca2+-free Krebs solution, ACh induced transient contraction due to Ca2+ release from the intracellular stores. The transient contraction lasted until the Ca2+ store was depleted. Restoration of extracellular Ca2+ in the presence of atropine produced contraction, mainly due to Ca2+ influx. Such contraction was not inhibited by verapamil, but was decreased by La3+ (50 μmol/L) from 0.96 to 0.72 g (P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: The predominant source of activator Ca2+ for the contractile response to agonist is extracellular Ca2+, and intracellular Ca2+ has little role to play in mediating excitation-contraction coupling by agonists in rat distal colon smooth muscle in vitro. The influx of extracellular Ca2+ is mainly mediated through voltage-, receptor- and store-operated Ca2+ channels, which can be used as an alternative to develop new drugs targeted on the dysfunction of digestive tract motility.

Broadband Microstrip Antennas Using Coplanar Feed-Line

Abstract: This paper proposes two novel broadband microstrip antennas using coplanar feed-line. By feeding the patch with a suitable shape of the coplanar line in the slot of the patch, the broadband character is achieved. Compared with the antenna fed by a U-shaped feed-line, the antenna with L-shaped feed-line not only has wider bandwidth but also achieves the circular polarization character. The measured bandwidths of 25% and 34% are achieved, and both of the antennas have good radiation characteristics in the work band.

Abstract: as-phase polymerization of ethylene over a prepolymerized MgCI,supported TiCl4. catalyst was compared with slurry polymerization. An accelerationtype or hybrid-type rate behavior for the slurry polymerization, but a decay-type rate behavior for the gas-phase polymerization have been observed. The difference in the apparent kinetics between these two processes could result from monomer diffusion resistance in the slurry polymerization and overheat effect in the gas-phase polymerization. The measurment of the oxidation states of titanium in the catalyst indicated that more titanium ions were reduced to lower oxidation state in the gasphase process than in the slurry process. The prepolymerization temperature and yield also remarkably affected the polymerization activity and kinectic behavior.

Abstract: 采用时域有限差分(finite-difference time-domain, FDTD)方法计算正方和六角排列圆形光子晶体的能带结构,研究了光子晶体占空比对能带的影响,找到一组获得带隙个数最多的二维光子晶体的几何结构参数;采用FDTD方法计算具有该参数的光子晶体的发光二极管(LED)出光效率,模拟表明该结构参数的正方和六角排列圆形光子晶体提高了GaN基蓝光LED出光效率5—6倍,六角排列优于正方排列;利用禁带理论、等效介质理论分析了增透机理.
Preparation of Metallization Pellets with BF Gas Dust and Converter Sludge

Abstract: Experimental study on preparation of metallization pellets with BF gas dust and converter sludge was carried out.Their chemical composition,phase,particle size distribution and bulk density were analyzed,and the effects of reduction temperature,reduction time and C/O on the metallization were investigated.The results showed that iron oxide,flux and carbon had high content in the dust and sludge,which were in uniform distribution and good contact.Harmful element zinc in the form of ZnFe2O4 existed in the mixture phase of other oxides.Their bulk density was small(<1.5 g/cm3),and they contained numerous coarse particles with more than 1.5 mm diameter.With increasing of reduction temperature,prolonging of reduction time and reducing of C/O ratio,the metallization rate and dezincing degree went up,and the effect of temperature was the most significant.85% metallization rate and 90% dezincing degree were achieved when C/O=1.0 under reduction temperature above 1220℃ and reduction time over 30 min.
Study on Pretreatment of Saponin Wastewater by Water Hyacinthy

Abstract: The pretreatment of the saponin wastewater by water hyacinth(Eichhornia crassipe) was studied.With contrast experiments,the results indicate that after 8 h adsorption by the dry air cells of water hyacinth,the concentration of chlorine ion in the saponin wastewater reduce 10%,chroma reduce 97.2%,pH change from 1.09 to 1.26,COD removal efficiency is 20%.The results indicate that the pretreatment process can improve biodegradability of the saponin wastewater,the biogas rate is 1.5 multiple than before,resulting in the benefit to the follow-up biological treatment.After the adsorption,water hyacinth biogas fermenting also improvement which is used for improve the effect of fermentative.
A Review-Based Reputation Evaluation Approach for Web Services

Abstract: Web services are commonly perceived as an environment of both offering opportunities and threats. In this environment, one way to minimize threats is to use reputation evaluation, which can be computed, for example, through transaction feedback. However, the current feedback-based approach is inaccurate and ineffective because of its inner limitations (e.g., feedback quality problem). As the main source of feedback, the qualities of existing on-line reviews are often varied greatly from low to high, the main reasons include: (1) they have no standard expression formats, (2) dishonest comments may exist among these reviews due to malicious attacking. Up to present, the quality problem of review has not been well solved, which greatly degrades their importance on service reputation evaluation. Therefore, we firstly present a novel evaluation approach for review quality in terms of multiple metrics. Then, we make a further improvement in service reputation evaluation based on those filtered reviews. Experimental results show the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed approach compared with the naive feedback-based approaches.
Isolation and identification of an antagonistic bacterium against Rhizoctonia solani, the causing agent of rice sheath blight

Abstract: Objective] This study is aimed to isolate and characterize antagonistic bacteria from soil, and evaluate their in vitro inhibition and control efficacy against Rhizoctonia solani, the causing agent of rice sheath blight in a green house. Methods] Serial dilution method and dual culture technique on agar plate were used for screening bacteria. Strain identification was based on morphological and physiological characteristics, and phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA sequence. Control efficacy against rice sheath blight was evaluated by seed bacterization tests in a green house. Results] An antagonistic bacterial strain against Rhizoctonia solani was isolated and screened from vegetable rhizosphere soil. The strain, designated as kwkjT4, exhibited excellent in vitro inhibition against the fungal pathogen. Its control efficacy against rice sheath blight was comparable to that of jinggangmycin. It was preliminarily identified as a strain of Chromobacterium pseudoviolaceum. The optimal growth conditions of the strain were as follows: pH 7.0, temperature 32 °C, incubation time 36 h. Inconsistence with those for the bacterial growth, the optimal conditions for accumulating inhibitory substances were pH 6.0, temperature 28 °C, and incubation time 48 h. Conclusions] Strain kwkjT4 had potentials for the biological control of rice sheath blight. This is the first report on the antagonism of C. pseudoviolaceum against Rhizoctonia solani.
