The Development of Decision-Making Maps for the High-Speed Machining (HSM) of Rhyodacite (Carijó Basalt) in Milling-Based Processing Applications  [PDF]

Modern Mechanical Engineering (MME) , 2013, DOI: 10.4236/mme.2013.34025
Abstract:

The demand for innovative products that overcome competitive pricing and conquer market shares can be met by interdisciplinary approaches that bridge product design, engineering and technology. Ornamental and covering stones stand out among the materials in need of innovation and are commonly used in architecture and construction as coverings in urban elements, funerary art, and art and decor. In spite of the many applications of ornamental stones, products with low added value are typically observed. Although Brazil displays significant geological potential for ornamental stones, its actual market participation is as a supplier of un- or semi-processed stones. Even with the market’s visible expansion and Brazil’s increased representation in the market, the technological advances used in the final processing of stones are restricted to improve the tools used for cutting, especially the durability of diamond-coated tools, and for polishing, which, in the short-term, meets the demands for marketing, producing and distributing semi-finished products. Accordingly, a little exploited aspect of ornamental stones appears, especially for “carijó basalt” (rhyodacite), that is, the inclusion of new processing and value-adding technologies or the inclusion of non-conventional processes in the sector. The goals of this work are to study and develop HSM (high speed machining) CNC (computer numerically controlled) milling processes that are applicable to rhyodacite, specifically to determine the milling parameters that give the best results for machining time with respect to tool wear and material abrasion and to replicate the results obtained in the samples. The results show that the raw material used in the present study, because it is natural, presents significant variations in composition and hardness, which prevent specific milling parameters from being determined. However, using a post-processor specifically developed for this study, it was possible to draft a decision-making map

A origem do conceito de multiplicidade segundo Gilles Deleuze
Cardoso Júnior, Hélio Rebello;
Trans/Form/A??o , 1996, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-31731996000100010
Abstract: deleuze seeks for his own concept of multiplicity through the issue of multiplicity both in riemann's physical theory and in bergson's philosophy. this attempt states for deleuze's peculiar creation of concepts. in fact, he draws out from riemannian and bergsonian concepts of multiplicity new features for the notions of space and time. hence, he is able to supply his own concept with an ontological spread.

Veritas , 2012,
This article aims at developing the so-called ontopolitics as G. Deleuze’s innovative contribution to contemporary political philosophy. This objective will lead us to inspect the concept of power that Deleuze borrowed from Foucault and extended in order to assign to it an ontological adequacy. The concept of power opens access to another important element of the Deleuzean political philosophy, that is, the study of the historical diagrams of the power in the so-called discipline and control societies. With the combined dynamical diagram of both, we become aware of the portrait Deleuze draws for the democracy in contemporary societies. Digging into the Deleuzean ontopolitics, we will devote ourselves to the concepts of majority, minority and minor-becoming. It is in this point that the meeting between Deleuze’s ontoplitics and Ch. Abstract: Historical narrative as a subject has caught widespread attention lately. Several contemporary theoretical trends make their best in order to supply an original contribution. Here, the intention has been to present the position of Paul Ricoueur within historical narrative controversy, as the heir of phenomenological thought, by drawing up the theoretical fronts where his efforts were joined.
Grizzo, Leandro H.;Hage Júnior, Elias;Laurini, Rafael V.;
Polímeros , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-14282011005000065
Abstract: in this paper, a method to reinforce rigid pvc with long glass fibers (lgf) was developed through the incorporation of continuous glass fibers, as rovings, with plasticized vinyl matrix prepared by the wire coating technique. the plasticized vinyl rovings were pelletized. the pellets (13-14 mm) were then blended to a granulated rigid pvc formulation and directly injection molded as testing specimens. the direct injection molding, eliminating the preliminary melt-compounding process, was achieved successfully, which was considered convenient because it reduced the number of processing steps, which allowed cutting expenses, reduced the deterioration of the glass fibers' length and reduced the possibility of pvc resins' degradation. 20 w/w% long glass fiber reinforced rigid pvc (lgf/pvc) composites were then obtained with twice as high modulus and charpy's impact strength compared to the unreinforced rigid pvc even with the composites were formulated with a high quantity of plasticizer. as a result, pvc can be used in unrecognized high-performance applications that were not possible before.

Abstract: The clear cell carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, represented approximately 85% by renal cell carcinoma (RCC), but has a characteristic of early metastatic, which sometimes spread to unusual places. Metastatic tumors in the paranasal sinuses are very rare. This case report a 65 years-old patient who presented sinusitis and epitaxis as a first sign of renal cell carcinoma with metastasis to the right maxillary sinus, which was opereted at Lagoa Hospital—RJ and strengthen the inclusion of this disease in the differential diagnosis of sinus disease. The renal cell carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, representing approximately 3% of malignant tumors. About a third of patients with renal cell carcinoma have metastasis at diagnosis. The sinuses are a rare location of metastasis. The maxillary sinuses and the paranasal sinuses are most commonly affected by metastatic tumors to the sinuses region. The most frequent primary tumor to metastasis to paranasal sinuses is the renal cell carcinoma. This report highlights the rarity of the case and the importance in the differential diagnosis of sinus disease.
