Real-Time Detection of Unstable Control Loop Behavior in a Feedback Active Noise Cancellation System for In-Ear Headphones  [PDF]
Sven Hber, Christian Pape, Eduard Reithmeier
Engineering (ENG) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/eng.2015.712069
Abstract: Active noise controls are used in a wide field of applications to cancel out unwanted surrounding noise. Control systems based on the feedback structure however have the disadvantage that they may become unstable during run-time due to changes in the control path—in this context including the listener’s ear. Especially when applied to active noise cancellation (ANC) headphones, the risk of instability is associated with the risk of harmful influence on the listener’s ear, which is exposed to the speaker in striking distance. This paper discusses several methods to enable the analysis of a feedback ANC system during run-time to immediately detect instability. Finally, a solution is proposed, which identifies the open loop behavior parametrically by means of an adaptive filter to subsequently evaluate the coefficients regarding stability.

Abstract: three species of chrysomya were collected and the most frequent were: c. albiceps (wiedemann, 1819) (62,62%), c. putoria (wiedeman, 1818) (30,11%) and c. megacephala (fabricius, 1794) (7,27%). the peaks of the populations of these species occurred in november and december/1988 and october and november/1989, and the small frequencies occurred from april to june/1989. all species showed significant correlation to 5% level with pluviometric precipitation, and none species showed correlation with temperature and relative humidity.
Evaluation of Child Health by Basic Indicators of Health: Historical Series 2005-2014  [PDF]
Tainara L?rena dos Santos Ferreira, Héllyda de Souza Bezerra, Julliane Tamara Araújo de Melo, Thaiza Teixeira Xavier Nobre, Fábia Barbosa de Andrade
Health (Health) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/health.2018.103023
Abstract: The continuous assessment of child health services generates knowledge about the real needs of health services and actions in order to achieve better results and indicators. Thus, this study proposes to analyze child health indicators, based on the information systems of health services. This is a descriptive, ecological epidemiological study carried out using secondary data from the following information systems: Information System on Live Births and Mortality Information System, in a historical series of ten years (2005-2014) of the state of Rio Grande do Norte and its health micro regions. It was observed a decrease in infant, neonatal, preterm, late neonatal and postnatal mortality coefficients when compared to the first and last year of the observed period, as well as the concentration of these in micro-regions of health. There was also a positive association between the early neonatal component and infant death. In this perspective, it is important to evaluate the quality of prenatal care, childbirth, puerperium, the first week of integral health and follow-up of the child’s growth and development, as well as to relate the socio-demographic conditions that may be associated with infant morbimortality. Therefore, the importance of situational health assessment studies for the effectiveness of care provided is highlighted, identifying weaknesses and monitoring the effectiveness of strategies.
Why Study Problematizations? Making Politics Visible  [PDF]
Carol Bacchi
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2012.21001
Abstract: This paper introduces the theoretical concept, problematization, as it is developed in Foucauldian-inspired poststructural analysis. The objective is two-fold: first, to show how a study of problematizations politicizes taken-for-granted “truths”; and second, to illustrate how this analytic approach opens up novel ways of approaching the study of public policy, politics and comparative politics. The study of problematizations, it suggests, directs attention to the heterogenous strategic relations – the politics – that shape lives. It simultaneously alerts researchers to their unavoidable participation in these relations, opening up a much-needed conversation about the role of theory in politics.
The Turn to Problematization: Political Implications of Contrasting Interpretive and Poststructural Adaptations  [PDF]
Carol Bacchi
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2015.51001
Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to introduce and elaborate the varied meanings of problematization in contemporary policy theory. The primary focus is on the different meanings and uses of the term in interpretivism and in Foucault-influenced poststructuralism. The paper argues that interpretive/argumentative adaptations direct attention primarily to how policy makers/workers develop problematizations (ways of understanding a problem) while Foucault-influenced poststructuralists critically scrutinize problematizations (the ways in which “problems” are produced and represented) in governmental policies and practices. It concludes that Foucault-influenced adaptations provide a more substantive critique of extant social arrangements than interpretive approaches, which tend to be reformist in design and inclination.
Diretrizes para avalia??o dos impactos da produ??o enxuta sobre as condi??es de trabalho
Saurin, Tarcisio Abreu;Ferreira, Cléber Fabricio;
Produ??o , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65132008000300008
Abstract: this study presents guidelines to evaluate the impacts of lean production (lp) on working conditions of front-line workers. the guidelines were tested in a case study carried out in the assembly line of a heavy machinery agricultural manufacturer. in the beginning, it was assessed the extent to which lp enablers were adopted in the assembly line. the assessment tool was a checklist that was filled out based on fifteen interviews with managers and supervisors. then, the following activities were undertaken: (a) interviews with six safety specialists, one safety engineer and three groups formed by ten workers, in order to detect their perceptions on both negative and positive impacts of lp; (b) application of two types of questionnaires - one of them had the objective of evaluating perceptions on current working conditions and the other aimed to evaluate perceptions on differences between the old and the current production system; (c) a feedback meeting to discuss the questionnaires results with workers. overall, the results pointed out that workers had a positive perception on their working environment and that working conditions have improved since lp was adopted.

Santos, Pedro A. dos;Yanagi Junior, Tadayuki;Teixeira, Vitor H;Ferreira, Leandro;
Engenharia Agrícola , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-69162005000300002
Abstract: the goal of the present work was to evaluate the thermal environment inside physical models of broiler housings built in reduced scale (1:10). the thermal comfort was evaluated through the black globe humidity index (bghi), thermal heat load (thl) and effectiveness of the roofs in reducing the bghi in relation to roofs built with aluminum tiles (e). four models built with ceramic tiles and equipped with natural or forced ventilation were compared to two models built with ceramic and aluminum tiles, respectively, without ridge vent. it was concluded that the roofs with forced (b30cvf) and natural (b30cvn) ventilation chamber provided better thermal environments inside the reduced models, in which the last has the advantage of not requesting electric power source.
Molecular properties of coordination compounds of the croconate ion with first-row sivalent transition metals: a quantum mechanical study
Ferreira, D. E. C.;Dos Santos, H. F.;Almeida, W. B. de;Junqueira, G. M. A.;
Journal of the Brazilian Chemical Society , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-50532007000700014
Abstract: in this paper we report geometries, magnetic and vibrational spectroscopic properties of croconate complexes [m(c5o5)(h2o)4] (m= mn2+, fe2+, co2+, ni2+, cu2+ and zn2+) calculated at the density functional theory level. the ground state of all complexes was found to be of high spin, in accordance with the experimental proposal. the calculated structures and vibrational frequencies were also in agreement with experiment, even though comparisons were made with the solid state structure. the calculated nonlinear optical (nlo) properties were for all the compounds analyzed, using the time dependent hartree-fock (tdhf) method within the static approach, suggesting that these transition metal complexes might be considered as lead molecules to the development of novel based-molecular materials.
