A Self-Adaptive Parallel Encryption Algorithm Based on Discrete 2D-Logistic Map  [PDF]

A self-adaptive parallel encryption algorithm based on discrete 2D-Logistic map is developed according to the position scrambling and diffusion of multi-direction in variable space of spatial chaos. The binary sequences b1b2b3···bn are obtained according to the user key, in which the binary sequence 0 and 1 denote distribution mode of processors and the number of binary sequence n denotes cycle number. Then the pseudorandom 2D matrix is generated by 2D-Logistic map, and adaptive segmentation is applied in image matrix and pseudorandom matrix according to the value and the number of binary sequence. The parallel operation is used among blocks to improve efficiency and meet real-time demand in transmission processes. However, the pixel permutation is applied in partitioned matrix through ergodic matrix generated by pseudo-random matrix-block to decrease the correlation of adjacent pixels. Then the pixel substitution is used for fully diffusing through cipher block chaining mode until n cycles. The proposed algorithm can meet the three requirements of parallel operation in image encryption and the real-time requirement in transmission processes. The security is proved by theoretical analysis and simulation results.

The Conversion Algorithm and Implementation Between Carry-save and Binary Sign-digit Representations

Abstract: The carry-propagation-free addition which is independently of operand length is feasible only if the outputs are expressed in the redundant representations. Binary sign-digit and carry-save representations are the two popular redundant formats which are widely used in the implementation of high-speed multipliers. In the previous studies, these two representations are treated separately. In this study, the algorithms and implementations are proposed for the conversion between them, thus, the computer arithmetic developed for one representation can be easily adapted to the other. The conversion overheads in the area and speed are also discussed.

Abstract: The temperature and flow rate control of diffusing chamber is one of the key technologies in the production of poly-crystal silicon thin film. As there exist some modeling uncertainties and errors in the actual system, it is difficult to guarantee the chamber variable temperature conditions and the flow rate of diffusion gas being controlled within its targeted range in the rapid thermal processing (RTP). In this paper, the control applies the programmable logic controller (PLC) to configure control hardware system, proposes expert proportional integral derivative (PID) control method to regulate the gas flow rate and H∞ control strategy to attenuate chamber modeling uncertainties and disturbances, respectively, to steer the chamber rapid variable temperature very close to the expected product temperatures. Furthermore, it designs human-machine integrated user control interface (HMI) and achieves rapid and accurately control performances for user operating production. The designed control system are simulated and tested in the application, which demonstrates that the control method has strong robustness when the modeling uncertainties, errors, parameters perturbation and disturbances, the temperature and flow rate meet the requirements of precisely trajectory following.
Inhibitory Activity of Ethanol Extract from Artemisia argyi on a Clinical Isolate of Staphylococcus aureus  [PDF]

Abstract: As a traditional herbal medicine for the treatment of many disorders, Artemisia argyi has shown many valuable bioactivities, but little is known about its effect on Staphylococcus aureus. In this study, the growth, the biofilm formation and the pathogenicity of S. aureus cultivated with or without ethanol extract of A. argyi were tested using microtitre plate assay, Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM) system and mice infection assay. Results showed that the growth and the biofilm formation of S. aureus in the test group with ethanol extract of A. argyi were significantly lower than those of the control group without ethanol extract of A. argyi. With CLSM system we could observe that the biofilm structure of the test group had looser and less biomass compared with the control group. After infection of S. aureus, the survival of mice in test group that were given 0.2 mL 100 mg/mL ethanol extracts of A. argyi was higher than the control group. Histopathological analyses showed that the tissue damage of mice in test group was less than that in control group. These results suggested that ethanol extract of A. argyi had inhibitory effect on S. aureus and could protect mice from death induced by S. aureus infection.

Abstract: This study aimed at gaining an in-depth knowledge of cultural conflicts between Han and Tibetan teachers, between teachers and students in Tibetan Autonomous Region, then discussed and analyzed the reasons for that, and finally attempted to solve the issue by establishing culture-oriented teacher education system. This study chose Dazi Junior Middle School as the case empirical study. Data for this study were gathered through interviews, participant observations, questionnaire surveys and document analysis, to analyze the cultural conflicts and its reasons. Findings suggest that teachers are “professionals” as well as “cultural workers”, also teacher cultural buildings and works. The mission of teacher education is to preserve and establish the ecology of the cultural development of teachers to promote teacher’s self-development in the interaction of self-being and self-making culture. Therefore, Teacher education system based on multi culture in ethnic minority regions should be established to realize multi-cultural harmonious symbiosis.
Microwave-Induced Thermo-Acoustic Tomography System Using TRM-Pstd Technique

Abstract: Time reversal imaging method based on full wave numerical technique for likely breast tumors biological tissue in the Microwave-Induced Thermo-Acoustic Tomography (MITAT) system is discussed. In this paper, the mechanism of microwave-induced thermo-acoustic is strictly described based on thermodynamics and thermo-diffusion principles; the equivalent relationship between the absorbed microwave energy distribution of the biological tissue and the induced thermo-acoustic source distribution is used as the basis of the imaging algorithm. Due to its unique noise suppression feature and the stability of the algorithm, the Time Reversal Method (TRM) based on the Pseudospectral Time-Domain (PSTD) technique is applied to image heterogeneous phantom tissues from low Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (SNR) thermo-acoustic signals. Thereafter, an integrated MITAT prototype system is presented to obtain the thermo-acoustic signals from some biologic tissue with millimeter scale. The proposed TRM method is based on PSTD technique produced two-dimensional images, presented to study the performances of the MITAT in terms of contrast and resolution. These images prove predominant advantages in both contrast and resolution compared with conventional microwave and ultrasound imaging systems for malignant tumor detection. Based on the current results, our TRM-PSTD MITAT system provides evidence to predict breast tumor in an early stage and millimeter scale.
Impact of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus on Ovarian Reserve in Premenopausal Women before Receiving Cyclophosphamide Therapy: Evaluation Using Anti-Müllerian Hormone  [PDF]

Abstract: Introduction: Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is shown to be a possible indicator of ovarian function. Severe systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients exposed to high-dose cyclophosphamide (CTX) have a much higher risk of developing infertility and premature ovarian failure. Therefore, we performed a prospective case-control study to evaluate the impact of SLE on women’s ovarian reserve using AMH before CTX therapy. Methods: SLE patients before receiving CTX therapy were enrolled in our hospital. Age-matched healthy women were served as controls. Serum AMH level was measured using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Basal hormone levels were measured including follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, and estradiol on the third day of their menstrual periods. All participants underwent transvaginal ultrasonographic examination for the determination of total antral follicle count on the third day. Results: AMH value in SLE patients was significantly lower compared to healthy control with normal ovarian reserve. No significant difference in AMH levels was found between SLE and healthy control with low ovarian reserve. Conclusions: SLE patients not receiving CTX therapy even with normal menstruation, still had an impaired ovarian reserve. Therefore, early monitoring of AMH levels could better reflect the ovarian function and reproductive outcomes of SLE patients and relative protective strategy needed to reserve fertility.
Diagnosis of Premature Senescence of Cotton Using SPAD Value  [PDF]

Abstract: Field experiments were conducted in 2011 on an experimental farm at the Cotton Research Insti-tute, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Anyang, China. We conducted experiments with a “SPAD-502” meter to quickly measure the relative value of chlorophyll content in the leaf blades of field cotton. Our goal was to seek a suitable leaf on a cotton plant to diagnose senescence status of crop plants at later stages of growth. We began by studying the dynamic change rule of the dis-tal-most four leaves of the cotton plant during the entire growth period with two early-maturing cultivars (CCRI 36, CCRI 50) and two mid-maturing cultivars (CCRI 41, SCRC 28). We also examined the effect of different nitrogen and potassium fertilizer rates on SPAD values of the leaves of SCRC 28. Our results suggest that SPAD values of the 1st distal stem leaves from two early cultivars can act as good indicators of senescence status in the plants, if they are measured between 10 d before the boll-opening stage and 10 d after boll opening stage. Differences of SPAD values of the 3rd distal stem leaves of two mid-maturing cultivars measured between about 15 d before the boll opening stage and 15 d after the boll opening stage can also be used to measure senescence status in these cotton cultivars. The conclusion can be used for cotton producer to manage N fertilizer better at later growth stage.
