Synthesis and Characterization of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles Supported on Ziconia and Its Application in the Gas-Phase Oxidation of Cyclohexanol to Cyclohexanone  [PDF]
Mohammad Sadiq, Gul Zamin, Razia  , Mohammad Ilyas
Modern Research in Catalysis (MRC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/mrc.2014.31003
Abstract:

Iron oxide nanoparticles supported on zirconia were prepared by precipitation-deposition method and characterized by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, TGA/DTA, surface area and particle size analysis. Catalytic activities of the catalysts were tested in the gas-phase conversion of cyclohexanol in a fixed-bed flow type, Pyrex glass reactor, at 433 - 463 K. Major detected products were cyclohexanone, cyclohexene and benzene, depending on the used catalyst. The rate of reaction was significantly raised by the introduction of molecular oxygen in the feed gas, thereby suggesting the oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone. Furthermore, the catalytic activity of iron oxide nanoparticles supported on zirconia treated with hydrogen at 553 K for 2 hours, was more selective and better than the unreduced iron oxide nanoparticles supported on zirconia, in the gas-phase oxidation of cyclohexanol to cyclohexanone. Experimental results showed that there was no leaching of metal, and that the catalyst was thus truly heterogeneous.

One-Pot Synthesis of Aldol Adduct Catalyzed by Immobilized Picolylamine on Zirconia  [PDF]
Mohammad Sadiq, Razia  , M. Naveed Umar, Gul Zamin
Modern Research in Catalysis (MRC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/mrc.2014.31001
Abstract:

Direct aldol reactions have been successfully performed using aromatic aldehyde and cyclic ketone in nonpolar solvent by using immobilized picolylamine on zirconia as a catalyst, in a double walled batch reactor. The prepared catalyst was characterized by SEM, XRD and FT-IR. FT-IR peaks reveal the presence of picolylamine on the surface of zirconia. The catalyst shows excellent catalytic activity in aldol reaction of cyclohexanone with benzaldehyde in cyclohexane giving 2-hydroxyphenylmethylcyclohexanone (55.7% yield) in 4 hr at 80?C. Furthermore, the catalyst is recoverable by simple filtration and could be used several times without significant loss in activity.

Mohammad Sadiq, Razia  , Sajid Hussain, Gul Zamin
Modern Research in Catalysis (MRC) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/mrc.2014.32006
Abstract:
Catalytic activity and selectivity of prepared catalysts (Fe2O3/ and Fe2O3/AC(KOH)) were investigated for liquid phase aerobic oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols, in a batch reactor, using solvent free condition and/or eco-friendly solvents. The catalysts were characterized by SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR, TGA/DTA, and surface area and pore size analysis. Experimental data revealed that Fe2O3/AC(KOH) was an efficient catalyst for the oxidation (dehydrogenation) of alcohol while \"\" was found to show catalytic activity for both dehydration and dehydrogenation of alcohols. The catalysts were recycled by simple filtration, and used several times without any loss of catalytic activity.

Asian Journal of Plant Sciences , 2003,
Abstract: Management of insect pests of cotton depends on the application of chemical insecticides in Pakistan. Use of chemical insecticides induce resistance in insects and destroy the natural pest control agents. Therefore, alternatives to insecticides are receiving much attention. Studies to manage the insect pest through augmentative releases of egg parasitoid, Trichogramma chilonis and predator, Chrysoperla carnea, indicated that biocontrol technology suppressed the infestation of insect pests of cotton to sub-economic levels. Low establishment of egg parasitoids was recorded in the early crop growing months and gradually increased to peak during the month of October. Whereas, maximum field establishment of C. carnea was recorded in the month of August.

Abstract: Purpose: This study was conducted to describe feelings and spiritual practices of patients with mastectomy. Method: The study was employed a qualitative design at a private university hospital oncology unit in Ankara, Turkey. Interviews were performed with 20 mastectomized women. Results: The findings indicated that commonly used in several spiritual practices; prayer was used by 96%, of the patients, and 94% requested that others pray for their health, the practice to positive reframing (76%), the practice to planning for family-friends activities (74%), visiting mos-que-shrine (73%), and the practice to reading Quran (71%). The categorization of the data led to identification of three thematic units. The first we described as “Experiencing the consequences of illness as a disorder”. The second was “Restoring a sense of order to life”, and the third was “Living with the new condition”. Conclusion: We concluded that a having mastectomy was difficult for the subjects. In this respect, nurses’ role is vital to help women with breast cancer in such a difficult and modifying process as breast removal.

Creative Education (CE) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ce.2015.617189
Abstract: Using simulation-enhanced interprofessional education in health care increasingly refers to the development of team member. Collaborative teamwork in a simulated healthcare environment can contribute to increasing students’ understanding of professional roles and team building in clinical settings. Common objectives are developed for both teams that focused on safer care, effective communication, and implementation of appropriate decision-making in the management of patients. Studies highlight the benefits of social learning with peers, noting that collaboration enhances knowledge, especially when learners are responsive to the contributions of others. However, simulated interprofessional education presents many challenges that can impact teamwork opportunities. Additional research needs to be conducted to evaluate the most effective way to incorporate simulation in teamwork learning. The purpose of this study is to present a framework of IPE and specific recommendations to achieve competencies and address these challenges for IPE using simulation.

Abstract: On journalistic production, the objectivation of each event involves a conflict of perspectives between journalists and sources through the present definition that surrounds us. These combats are established in the discursive level, among social controls and pressures for what to say and how to say it, being conformed within an information network built up from priorities on which informational efforts in each media are focused. This article approaches the use of other medias (newspapers, radio and TV stations) by the newspaper O Estado de S. Paulo as sources for the signification of the diplomatic crisis between Colombia and Ecuador, in the period from March 2008 to August 2009. The article is guided by a debate on the implications of the means-source used by the journalistic production about international occurrences. For the analysis the corpus is based on 307 pieces of the International section.
The Effects of Mutual Coupling and Transformer Connection Type on Frequency Response of Unbalanced Three Phase Electrical Distribution System  [PDF]
Omer Gul, Adnan Kaypmaz
Energy and Power Engineering (EPE) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/epe.2010.24035
Abstract: In this paper, a novel harmonic modeling technique by utilizing the concept of multi-terminal components is presented and applied to frequency scan analysis in multiphase distribution system. The proposed modeling technique is based on gathering the same phase busses and elements as a separate group (phase grouping technique, PGT) and uses multi-terminal components to model three-phase distribution system. Using multi- terminal component and PGT, distribution system elements, particularly, lines and transformers can effectively be modeled even in harmonic domain. The proposed modeling technique is applied to a test system for frequency scan analysis in order to show the frequency response of the test system in single and three-phase conditions. Consequently, the effects of mutual coupling and transformer connection types on three-phase frequency scan responses are analyzed for symmetrical and asymmetrical line configurations.
