The textile industry moves the economy of several countries, being of great importance for the internal market and also for the external market, but it is considered one of the industries that consume a greater volume of water in its productive process, being one of the largest producers of effluents. Effluents from the textile industries carry toxic, mutagenic and potentially carcinogenic substances, and are resistant to chemical and/or biological degradation, pre-venting traditional effluent treatment methodologies from removing significant quantities of these molecules, compromising the quality of receiving water bodies. The present work aims to demonstrate the conventional methodologies used in the treatment of effluents from textile industries and present new technologies discovered for this purpose and present a greater efficiency in the removal of the dyes used in the productive chain of these industries.

Brazilian Journal of Botany , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-84042008000400004
Abstract: a floristic survey of a "cerrado" sensu stricto area was carried out in botucatu, west-central region of s?o paulo state, southeastern brazil. one-hundred-seventy-nine angiosperms taxa (177 species) were recorded distributed in 122 genera and 49 families. five species of pteridophytes were also collected, belonging to four genera and two families. the woody component was predominant, representing more than 60% of the registered species. the arboreal to non-arboreal species ratio was 1:3. the families with the highest species richness were: asteraceae (27 species), fabaceae (22), myrtaceae (11). the comparison among six cerrado areas revealed great floristic heterogeneity since the similarity indexes produced low values, even among neighboring areas.

Abstract: this is a bibliographic study on bone marrow transplantation emphasizing nurses actions, reviewed from publishings of the last ten years. the organization of informations allowed authors to identify that for performing a transplant it would be necessary to have an adequate infrastructure, specialized human resources and operational resources for the assistance to be feasible. it was determined that nurses actions in this procedure are required in all stages of care, differently in each phase, and preferentiality individualized and integral in a maximum ratio of one nurse for two patients.

Abstract: patients may present problems after coronary artery bypass surgery and nurses play an important role in the detection of such problems. with the purpose to determine the problems of 25 patients during the first month after hospital discharge, they were followed up via telephone as well as when they returned to hospital. content analyses of detailed nurses' recording revealed eight categories of problems. the most frequently related problems were related to the surgical incision site (76%), pharmacological therapy (28%), other pathologies (24%), mood alterations (20%) and sleep pattern disturbances (16%). the strategy chosen showed to be efficient to analyze the recovery of these patients during the first month after hospital discharge.

Abstract: the prevention of acute myocardial infarction (ami) has been related to the identification and control of risk factors (rf) present in the life style of the individuals. the aim of this study was to know the profile of patients with a first episode of ami and to identify rf for this disease. seventy eight in patients from the coronary care unity of a university hospital were interviewed. the results showed that the life style of the studied group includes habits that collaborate to coronary artery disease maintenance or progress. these results will help to elaborate an educational program aiming to prevent reinfarction and to promote health.

Abstract: Swamp Forests occur in permanently wet soils, with specific ecosystem which contributes to the conservation of biodiversity and water resources. However, there are many gaps in knowledge about the restoration of these forests. The present study was conducted in a degraded wetland in the town of Mineiros do Tietê, located in the state of S?o Paulo, Brazil, in order to test the efficiency of four methods for restoring a Swamp Forest (small mound, acclimated seedling, dry season and conventional tillage), using six forest tree species typical of this type of forest: Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess., Citharexylon myrianthum Cham., Cedrela odorata L., Tapirira guianensis Aubl., Ficus insipida Willd. and Croton urucurana Baill. The least favorable methods for all plant species were: conventional and soil pit tillageindry seasons. Analyzing the plant species individually, the best results in descending order were: Croton urucurana Baill. (acclimated seedling tillage in dry season), followed by Calophyllum brasiliense Cambess. (insmall mounds), Citharexylon mirianthum Cham. (with acclimated seedlings), Ficus insipida Willd. and Tapirira guianensis Aubl. (insmall mounds). Cedrela odorata L. presented low performance in all conditions, probably because it suffered the Hypsipyla grandella Zeller. The results have been successful for the establishment of Swamp Forest restoration strategies.
