Inclusion-Exclusion Policy Latin American Democracies and Distributive Policies  [PDF]
Godofredo Vidal de La Rosa
Open Journal of Political Science (OJPS) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ojps.2017.71004
Abstract: This essay explores the influence that political participation has in the development of political equality, and the causal relationship between political equality and democracy. The main interest is in the impact of political participation, especially, voter turnout, and distributive social policies in democratic regimes in Latin-America. Voting process and party competition are focused as the main factors in the regime performance. More specifically, high turnout rates are very influential in the regime path and in the policy process. This thesis is well observed in the “first world”.
Multifractal analysis of Lyapunov exponent for the backward continued fraction map
Godofredo Iommi
Mathematics , 2008,
Abstract: In this note we study the multifractal spectrum of Lyapunov exponents for interval maps with infinitely many branches and a parabolic fixed point. It turns out that, in strong contrast with the hyperbolic case, the domain of the spectrum is unbounded and points of non-differentiability might exist. Moreover, the spectrum is not concave. We establish conditions that ensure the existence of inflection points. We also study the thermodynamic formalism for such maps. We prove that the pressure function is real analytic in a certain interval and then it becomes equal to zero.
Thermodynamic formalism for the positive geodesic flow on the modular surface
Godofredo Iommi
Mathematics , 2010,
Abstract: In this note we study the thermodynamic formalism for the positive geodesic flow on the modular surface. We define the pressure and prove the variational principle. We also establish conditions for the the pressure to be real analytic and for the potentials to have unique equilibrium states. The results in this paper were largely superceded by "Phase transitions for suspension flows" by Iommi and Jordan arXiv:1202.0849
The Lyapunov spectrum as the Newton method
Godofredo Iommi
Mathematics , 2011, DOI: 10.1016/j.physa.2011.12.058
Abstract: For a class of dynamical systems, the cookie-cutter maps, we prove that the Lyapunov spectrum coincides with the map given by the Newton-Raphson method applied to the derivative of the pressure function.
El Pacífico Latinoamericano
Cruz,Alberto; Iommi,Godofredo; ,;
ARQ (Santiago) , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0717-69962009000300003
Abstract: this vision is incorporated as a way of approaching the city-port of valparaiso from a latin american perspective, regarding the geographical situation of the pacific ocean, its recognition and its historical development. the city is inserted as an important port located in the south and is in direct access to the latin american interior sea.
El Pacífico Latinoamericano The Latin American Pacific
Alberto Cruz,Godofredo Iommi
ARQ , 2009,
This vision is incorporated as a way of approaching the city-port of Valparaiso from a Latin American perspective, regarding the geographical situation of the Pacific Ocean, its recognition and its historical development. The city is inserted as an important port located in the south and is in direct access to the Latin American interior sea.
The Lyapunov spectrum is not always concave
Godofredo Iommi,Jan Kiwi
Mathematics , 2008, DOI: 10.1007/s10955-009-9750-0
Abstract: We characterize one-dimensional compact repellers having nonconcave Lyapunov spectra. For linear maps with two branches we give an explicit condition that characterizes non-concave Lyapunov spectra.
Natural equilibrium states for multimodal maps
Godofredo Iommi,Mike Todd
Mathematics , 2009, DOI: 10.1007/s00220-010-1112-x
Abstract: This paper is devoted to the study of the thermodynamic formalism for a class of real multimodal maps. This class contains, but it is larger than, Collet-Eckmann. For a map in this class, we prove existence and uniqueness of equilibrium states for the geometric potentials $-t \log|Df|$, for the largest possible interval of parameters $t$. We also study the regularity and convexity properties of the pressure function, completely characterising the first order phase transitions. Results concerning the existence of absolutely continuous invariant measures with respect to the Lebesgue measure are also obtained.
Transience in Dynamical Systems
Godofredo Iommi,Mike Todd
Mathematics , 2010,
Abstract: We extend the theory of transience to general dynamical systems with no Markov structure assumed. This is linked to the theory of phase transitions. We also provide examples of new kinds of transient behaviour.
Thermodynamic formalism for interval maps: inducing schemes
Godofredo Iommi,Mike Todd
Mathematics , 2012,
Abstract: This survey article concerns inducing schemes in the context of interval maps. We explain how the study of these induced systems allows for the fine description of, not only, the thermodynamic formalism for certain multimodal maps, but also of its multifractal structure.
