Abstract: the paper presents a study about the non-formal education and its role in the wide educative process. it considers the non-formal education as an area of knowledge still in construction. it studies the possibility of this educational process in the councils of schools and the learning that results from the civil society participation in these councils. the paper has two parts: the first has a theoretical character and discusses the non-formal category, distinguishing it from the formal and informal education categories. the second one investigates the non-formal category in the councils of the schools and in the social movements acting in the educational area.

Abstract: this paper presents a study on the urbanization process in s?o paulo on one of its more contradictory districts: morumbi. currently, the morumbi region has the second largest slum in sao paulo, paraisópolis, the fifth in brazil and fourth in latin america. given the complexity of region-neighborhood in socioeconomic, political, cultural and environmental terms, in this paper, data are analyzed according to two articulated movements. the first, more general, depicts the scene of its landscapes, the changes over the past 30 years, regarding both the verticalzation of housing for the upper and middle layers of the population, and the creation of points of luxury consumption and modern office towers. the second movement depicts the expansion and growth of its slums, analyzing existing sociability in residents' associations of paraisóplolis and major social projects that are developed there.

Abstract: this paper aims to analyze the scene of civil associativism in latin america, pointing out its social movements and the theoretical interpretations that have been made about them, taking as its point of view some categories and the theories that give them support. the text begins with a brief characterization of the latin-american scene, according to its main social movements, pointing out some of the alterations that are happening starting from the development of public policy aimed at the social development, in partnership with the organized civil society. theories and theoreticians that have researched the social movements in latin america are presented and two theoretical categories quite used at the present time are analyzed: networks and social mobilization. the text ends with the following observation: there is a new scene in the civil associativism and the scope of its theories and interpretations is diverse. however, identity policies have been built to "include" groups and associations, mobilized by governments through public policies. operational categories of social intervention are actually being ressignified as the cornerstones of a conservative policy of inclusion, generating new readings and theoretical interpretations about social reality.

Abstract: the work aims to present an overview of social movements in actuality, in the latin america, and presents a mapping of their main forms in brazil. the search ponders the educational character of their actions, both for its participants, as for society in general and public agencies. the basic premise of assertion that social movements are sources of innovation and knowledge-generating arrays. however, because it is not an isolated process but social-political character, the paper search joints in the network of relationships that establish movements in political, economic and socio-cultural country, to understand the factors that generate learning built and values of political culture that are being built. . the text highlights movements that occurs in the areas of education - formal and non-formal education.

Abstract: this article aims to analyze organizational forms, possibilities and tendencies of community participation, in the relation society/government, emphasizing the role of councils. since it is impossible to understand the different types of councils that exist nowadays in brazil, the text discusses the social organizations (oss) and the civil society′s organizations of public interest (oscips). one of the main conclusions presented is that the councils and other forms of community participations do not exist to substitute government, but to fight for community′s rights: education, health and services of good quality.

Abstract: El trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una visión general de los movimientos sociales en la actualidad en la América Latina y presenta una asignación de sus principales formas en Brasil. Busca reflexionar sobre el carácter educativo de sus acciones, tanto para sus participantes, como para la sociedad en general y para los organismos públicos gubernamentales. La premisa básica es la afirmación de que los movimientos sociales son fuentes de innovación y arreglos de discos de generación de conocimiento. Sin embargo, porque no es un proceso aislado sino de carácter social y política, el trabajo de buscar las articulaciones en la red de relaciones que establece los movimientos en la cena política, económica y socio-culturales del país, para comprender los factores que generan el aprendizaje y valores de la cultura política que se están construyendo. El texto pone de relieve los movimientos que se producen en las áreas de educación, educación formal y no formal.

Abstract: Este trabajo tiene como objetivo realizar una evaluación sobre las últimas décadas del proceso de participación de la sociedad civil en la construcción de ciudadanía entre los brasile os –en especial en los sectores populares– a través de movimientos sociales, ONGs y otras formas de asociativismo, como los foros, las plenarias populares y los consejos de gestión pública. Como resultado se presentan – luego de la delimitación teórico-metodológica de la categoría ‘movimiento social’– los rasgos básicos de un nuevo asociativismo y se marcan diferencias en el universo de las ONGs. Posteriormente, el texto describe el escenario actual de los principales tipos de movimientos sociales de Brasil.
