Sociedade Tarja Preta: uma crítica à medicaliza??o de crian?as e adolescentes
Toassa, Gisele;
Fractal : Revista de Psicologia , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-02922012000200015
Abstract: this text is a book's review towards the first edition of "medicalization of children and adolescents: conflicts silenced by the reduction of social issues to diseases of individuals", which discusses the publication's relevance as a criticism of (psycho)pathologies and their treatments. the book succeeds in rigorously deconstructing the "science" that legitimates the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (adhd), exposing how the pharmaceutical industry has been systematically concealing the profound collateral effects of the methylphenidate, the drug which treats it. the publication also presents papers by health and education practitioners, representing a remarkable effort directed to change the child/adolescent health care and education.
Implica??es do plano de desenvolvimento da educa??o para a forma??o de professores
Masson, Gisele;
Ensaio: Avalia??o e Políticas Públicas em Educa??o , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-40362012000100009
Abstract: this paper analyzes the main implications of the development plan of education (dpe) for teacher training. the research used bibliographic and documentary sources and was based on historical and dialectical materialism concepts. the teacher training education proposal presented by the dpe is neo pragmatist, since it reinforces the importance of searching for instruments that are useful to the immediate demands of the teaching profession and it doesn't contribute to developing a solid and broad education. the fact that it gives priority to teacher training education rather than to proper financial investments as the solution for the negative results registered by the basic education development index (ideb) brings out the given priority to the subjective conditions in the resolution of educational problems.

Sanglard, Gisele;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2003, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702003000100006
Abstract: the history of swiss immigration to brazil began with the foundation of the colony of nova friburgo in 1819. nova friburgo was the first colonial company contracted by the portuguese government. this paper is an invitation to go back in time to the period in which nova friburgo was founded, through the letters the immigrants wrote for publication in swiss newspapers of the period. the meeting of the old and the new worlds is seen in these letters, as well as the encounter with other swiss people already established in rio de janeiro or who were in the process of becoming so. they show the dynamics of the coming and going of immigrants, whether or not they participated in the companies. the migrants' perceptions, information and expectations set the tone for these messages.

Hospitais: espa?os de cura e lugares de memória da saúde
Sanglard, Gisele;
Anais do Museu Paulista: História e Cultura Material , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-47142007000200020
Abstract: this paper analyzes the gaffrée & guinle hospital, built in rio de janeiro during the 1920s as the result of a process whereby the government took over the management of hospital care in the federal capital. the hospital is the point of convergence between philanthropy and a public healthcare project implemented in the federal district at that time. it also synthesizes the development of medicine and how the latter translates into hospital architecture, as well as the intellectual effervescence at the time, more specifically the nationalist ideas which can be identified both in the choice of architectural style - namely the neocolonial - and in the theme of salvation of a race through the combat and control of syphilis.

Pro-Posi??es , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-73072009000300010

Vigotski contra James-Lange: crítica para uma teoria histórico-cultural das emo??es
Toassa, Gisele;
Psicologia USP , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642012000100005
Abstract: comments on the human emotions are presented throughout the work of the belarusian ls vygotsky, ever since the art criticism written in his youth. in this topic, he discussed the contribution of several authors: freud, claparède, ribot, lewin, dilthey, wundt. however, most of all he examined the james-lange theory. this article aims to discuss vygotsky's extensive criticism on this theory, in his manuscript "utchenie ob emotsiajakh", which fell in a broad theoretical and methodological approach: to compile and link the factual material without coordination, exposing the struggle of philosophical ideas behind the psychological ones, to pave the way for future research aimed at overcoming the dualism in psychology. highlighting the main arguments in the manuscript for a vygotskyan approach concerning studies on emotions, we discuss the quarrel about the theme, which vygotsky considered the most difficult, and possibly the more important for the future of psychology.
Conceito de consciência em Vigotski
Toassa, Gisele;
Psicologia USP , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-65642006000200004
Abstract: this article investigates the concept of consciousness in the work of lev vygotsky, which is the main problem of his psychology. it summarizes the importance of the political and social context of the soviet union for the development of his theory, which has begun with influences from the reflexology and pavlovism. however his conception was constructed with a progressive integration of his wide range of knowledge, embracing arts, marxist, classical philosophy, neuropsychology and experimental psychology. through readings of vygotskyan′s works produced from 1924 up to 1934, this article revises the semantics occurrences of the word “consciousness”, identifying its monist and materialist dialectic fundaments, extracting its main senses and including it in historical-cultural perspective. the concept is divided in three fundamental senses (process of becoming aware of the internal and external reality; attribute of psychological contents and processes; psychological system) which link it selves, laying the foundations of the general psychology of vygotsky and relating neuropsychology, ethics and ontology.
