Leitura e escrita em alunos de escola pública: 3o vs 4o ano

Abstract: in this work we study the performance of students in the 3rd and 4th years of elementary school in reading comprehension (cloze test), writing production of narration and description, considering the gender of students. we studied 60 students of a public elementary-school. was used as material: an informed consent form; reading comprehension test; a picture to be described and material with the subject to narration production. the comparison between the four groups (anova) showed no significance difference in reading comprehension. in the description activity, the best performance was done by a 4th year male student and in narration was the 3rd year male student. clustering the groups by schooling/gender, the mann-whitney test showed favorable statistical significance for the 4th year in female students.. the fourth year performance was superior to the third with no difference attributable to gender. the performance of the school was very low and we suggest that there is a need in integrating reading-writing activity

Abstract: the evaluation of scientific production is an important activity to the scientific and educational politics and patterns. this paper presents a quantitative evaluation about the theses and dissertations that had been presented at the pontificia universidade católica de campinas, from 1975 to 2004, that is, 30 years. the results shows 577 papers from master degree and 93 dissertations (phd), which amounts to 670 scientific productions. the first master thesis was defended in 1975, and only in 1997 the phd first thesis was defended. the feminine authorship has been the most common (81,79%). some advisers' total participation have been more intense than the others, according to these professionals' career as a member of this program.

Abstract: this paper derives from a conference that examined two concepts of health and some of its implications for research and the work of teams of professionals. as an example, it presents original data indicative of the fact that health psychology is an area of research that presents good indicators of development with the published studies, such as title, authorship, volume of publications in journals. internationally, no significant differences between studies on health and disease were present in a sample of 300 papers published in journals, books and dissertations. in brazil, the disease does tend to be the focus of studies. considerations are also presented concerning the development of the area and about the professional training enabling the psychologist to work in the health area.

Abstract: the developmental tasks are essential in every sequence of life cycle. there is a social expectation about people's performance in each sequence and its tasks. in the last part of the life cycle, there are developmental tasks the old aged person has to face in order to be happy and guarantee life quality. the old people's tasks are object of descriptions and considerations. researches about the old aged tasks are considered important because the need of this subject information.

Abstract: in the educational context it is examined the teacher-stress association. the teacher’s stress is related with variables of academic environment, of out of the school and of the teacher. the impact of that association can be see in the teacher’s health, in his achievement and in the quality of the teaching-learning process. with the objective to present one view of how issue is being considered in international literature it is focused the production presented in the bibliographic base psycarticle, from 1987 until 2002. only 28 papers considered the relation teacher-stress. they were analyzed in relation to the progress indicators: authorship, kind of work and specific content area. there are few research in the area, they are descriptives and produced by scientists’ groups.

Abstract: the teaching of reading and the reading behavior at university are issues of 51 reasearches enroled at the annual summary of lnvestigations relating to reading (1989/1994). the content analyses of the material shows: the titles are in accord with the rules of the scientific discourse; the undergraduetion students are the more present subjects in the studies; the experimental design is statistically significant in relation to the other designs; teaching strategies and reading comprehension are the contents more researched.
