Abstract: In the present work, the susceptibility of API 5L X52 steel to corrosion processes was evaluated in the presence of high contents of hydrogen sulfide and carbon dioxide. Gravimetric tests and surface analyses were carried out to establish both the corrosion rate and damage type exhibited by the metal. The obtained results indicate that the hydrogen sulfide is the most active gas in the corrosion processes that took place, quite above carbon dioxide. The main observed corrosion products were iron sulfides and the typical damage associated with hydrogen sulfide presence was Sulfide Stress Cracking (SSC). The surface damage evidences the presence of cracks with considerable magnitude and metal loss as consequences of the corrosion processes. Likewise, the presence of oxygen in the system modifies the displayed corrosion type, where corrosion products such as iron oxides and reduction in the number and extent of cracks are observed. On the other hand, the addition of a film-forming corrosion inhibitor based on modified imidazolines eliminates completely the development of cracks, although under certain test conditions, it can favor localized pitting corrosion.
The Iron Age settlement of Cerro de la Mesa (Alcolea de Tajo, Toledo). First Results

Trabajos de Prehistoria , 2004,
Abstract: A general description of the rescue work in the site of Cerro de la Mesa is presented. The work documented a stratigraphy that covered at least all of the Iron Age. The site has a large wall typologically related with Andalusian and Levantine sites. There is a ritual area with orientalising items. Some domestic structures and a metallurgical workshop related with iron metallurgy were also documented from a later phase.

Abstract: this paper is a research subproject which is being developed in the context of the "permanent research project" carried out by the family social work i chair which has been approved by the 53-90-994 resolution of the governing board from the facultad de filosofía y letras, universidad nacional de tucumán. the aim of the project is the "study, comprehension and analysis of precocious pregnancy as a growing phenomenon in our community and, therefore, its relationship with the global conditions in which it is produced". responding to qualitative research characteristics, it is organized in two stages. the first one corresponds to the recuperation, analysis and interpretation of the body of secondary sources data and to the immersion in the field.( no me gusta esta expresión "immersion in the field")(no sé a qué se refiere en castellano) the second stage corresponds to the reconstruction of the studied situation. the cases are approached so as to comprehend the characteristics that assume the body of social representations that sustain and give sense to the implicated agents' social action or practice and to compare them in relation to the conditions produced by globality. from this point onwards, it is expected to think over and evaluate the social worker's models and techniques of intervention in the familiar dimension and in the subject in consideration.

Latin American applied research , 2002,
Abstract: a catalytic oxidation process of traces of so2 to so3 for the treatment of dust-free flue-gas from power stations and some special waste incinerators has been developed. the catalyst was prepared by impregnation of platinum precursors on alumina/silicates-based material. the behavior of this industrial sized honeycombtype catalyst was studied at lab and pilotplant scale. the evolution of so2 conversion and some physico-chemical properties of the catalyst with time in operation were examined. the 7-8 wt.% of sulfate deposition on the fresh catalyst had no influence on the catalytic activity at steady state conditions. the catalyst showed so2 to so3 conversion value of 80-90 vol.% operating at a temperature of 450oc and space velocities of 3000-6150 h-1 (ntp).

Abstract: columba livia, original from europe, is at present widely distributed all over the world. these granivores colonized urban environments where the availability of crops and seeds is not always permanent and, for that are forced to exploit other resources with different composition, e.g. high protein foodstuff. thus, feral pigeons should have the ability to survive on a diet rich in protein as they do with starchy items by having an adequate digestive biochemical machinery to process it. phylogenetical and functional hypothesis has been proposed linking dietary flexibility and enzyme lability. all passeriformes studied to date show the expected positive correlation between aminopeptidase-n and dietary protein but not for intestinal carbohydrases. conversely, all the non-passerine species modulate intestinal carbohydrases, but not peptidases. moreover, different scenarios may be posed as the output of a phylogenetical effect, e.g., adding constraints to a lability scheme in certain groups or just determining it (e.g., intestinal disaccharidases modulated in galloanserae and peptidases modulated in passeriformes). consequently, we tested the prediction that feral pigeons adjust digestive enzyme activities according to the level of the respective substrate (e.g., carbohydrates, protein) in the diet. birds were fed for 15 days with two different diets, one with high protein content (low in starch) (hp) and the other rich in starch and low in proteins (hs). pigeons fed on the hp were able to survive with no other dietary supplement, as predicted. pancreatic enzymes did not change between diet treatments. birds fed on hp exhibited the predicted upward modulation of aminopeptidase-n activity, when compared to birds on hs, while intestinal carbohydrases did not show differences between diets. these results give an apparent support to the functional hypothesis, but are not enough to reject that the observed intestinal protease lability has a phylogenetical component, because f

Finally, feral pigeons have the ability to take full advantage of the energy content from proteins, having enough pancreatic proteases activity and modulating the intestinal aminopeptidase-N. These abilities may allow them to use effectively the nutrients found in the cities surviving even when grains are not available along the year La paloma doméstica, originaria de Europa, está distribuida alrededor del mundo. Abstract: objectives: to report a new case of bladder leiomyoma in an adult. methods: 64-year-old female patient consulting for a four-month hematuria diagnosed of a bladder intraluminal tumor on ultrasound during a routine gynecologic revision. cystoscopy confirmed the presence of the tumor. transurethral resection was indicated. results: pathology reported a definitive diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma. anterior pelvic exenteration was subsequently performed. on one year follow-up there is no evidence of disease. conclusions: we emphasize the rarity of these neoplasias. we comment on their main characteristics, pointing out the importance of immunohistochemical staining for the definitive histological diagnosis. we refer the therapeutic options described in the literature.

Se decidió tratar al paciente con gammaglobulina endovenosa, factor de transferencia e inmunoferón, con una evidente mejoría clínica The case of a 6-year-old boy with recurrent respiratory and digestive infections since he was 8 is reported. The immunological study revealed a marked decrease of the lymphocyte activation, reduced levels of subclasses of IgG2, IgG3 and IgG4 and phagocytosis delay. A combined primary immunodeficiency was diagnosed and it was decided to treat the patient with endovenous gamma globulin, transfer factor and immunoferon. An evident clinical improvement was observed
