Abstract: objective: to assess the levels of physical activity, barriers, and stage of change in an urban population 25 to 50 years of age from the municipality of santa rosa de osos, department of antioquia. materials and methods: a prevalence study was conducted, with a two-stage random sampling among 357 individuals not suffering from any known cardiovascular disease. a pre-designed survey was conducted to assess the levels of physical activity, the stage of change, and physical activity barriers. results: the total low physical activity was 9%, and by domains: work 66.9%, transport 60.8%, household and garden (yard work) 44.8%, and leisure-time 76.2%. the most important physical activity barriers were ?lack of willpower? (70%) and ?lack of time? (46.2%). the most prevalent stages of change were ?contemplation? (40.3%) and ?preparation? (17.1%). conclusion: low physical activity levels were found in different domains of daily life, together with a high prevalence of barriers and stages prior to physical activity practice, mainly among women and obese subjects.
UNA REVISIóN CRíTICA DE LAS TéCNICAS DE FILTRADO PARA LA TEORíA DE LOS CICLOS ECONóMICOS REALES
Vásquez Bedoya,Fredy Alonso; Restrepo Ochoa,Sergio Iván; Lopera Sierra,John Fernando;
Cuadernos de Economía , 2010,
Abstract: this article reviews different academic research concerning two basic elements of the theory of real business cycles: the determinants of economic cycles, and the filtering techniques (statistical or economic) that allow their estimation. the paper concludes, as many other studies, that when using different filtering techniques it is possible to find different stylized facts, which condition the interpretations of the factors that determine the cycles.

Journal of Applied Mathematics and Physics (JAMP) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jamp.2018.66110
Abstract: We consider the problem of measuring the electric charge of nanoparticles immersed in a fluid electrolyte. We develop a mathematical framework based on the solution of the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation to obtain interaction forces between nanoparticles immersed in a fluid electrolyte and an Atomic Force Microscopy micro spherical probe. This force-separation information is shown explicitly to depend on the charge of the nanoparticle.? This method overcomes the statistical nature of extant methods and renders a charge value for an individual single nanoparticle.

Iatreia , 2013,
Abstract: Introduction: Interventions with physical exercise and nutritional guidance show changes in overweight among young people suffering from the metabolic syndrome (MS); nevertheless, their characteristics and results vary. Objective: To assess the effect of an intervention with physical exercise and nutritional guidance on components of the MS among overweighted young people.Materials and methods: Longitudinal study with an assessment before and another after the intervention in nine young people aged 11 to 17 years. Anthropometric aspects, resting heart rate, peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak), insulinemia, HOMA, and components of the MS were assessed. Intervention consisted of 12 weeks of supervised exercise, three 90-minute sessions/week (aerobic and strength), plus two unsupervised sessions; the weekly supply of fruits and vegetables in order to cover the five recommended daily servings, and individual and group nutrition education. Results: With the intervention waist circumference decreased from 90.5 ± 11.0 to 88.1 ± 9.9 cm; BMI from 30.2 ± 5.8 to 29.3 ± 5.6 kg/m2; total body fat from 39.8 ± 13.0 to 34.3 ± 9.0%; glycemia from 86.0 ± 8.6 to 83.1 ± 5.0 mg/dL; insulinemia from 23.2 ± 9.8 to 19.4 ± 7.6 μU/mL; HOMA-IR from 2.89 ± 1.21 to 2.39 ± 0.93; resting heart rate from 87.9 ± 4.3 to 78.2 ± 5.5 rpm, and VO2peak increased from 36.3 ± 5.1 to 38.5 ± 4.1 mL/kg/min. Four out of six young people with the diagnosis of MS at the beginning of the study did not present it at the end. Conclusions: Participating in an exercise program and increase in the consumption of fruits and vegetables among overweighted young people with components of the MS produced positive modifications in body composition, VO2peak, resting heart rate, and glycemia, as well as in the components and prevalence of the MS.

Parra,Fredy;
Teología y vida , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0049-34492009000200004
Abstract: the articl investigates peculiar visión of the philosopher emmanuel levinas regarding time in its articulation with death and the other (s). it shows the levinasiano commitment by deformalizing the notion of the time, analyzing the relationships that the author establishes between time and the other, time and death, between passiveness-patience and responsibility, between immemorial past, present and future. finally, the study focuses on the critical confrontation between levinas and heidegger with regard to death and time. he concludes that ?t is possible to move beyond the heideggerian position, understanding death from the perspective of the time, and not only time from death. for levinas, to be temporal means still have time, to defer death or to face it freely in the present of love-mercy, in the responsibility of one to another, and giving sense to time by seeking a more truly human world.
