Brand Equity and Brand Loyalty in the Internet Banking Context: FIMIX-PLS Market Segmentation  [PDF]
Sandra Maria Correia Loureiro, Francisco Javier Miranda
Journal of Service Science and Management (JSSM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/jssm.2011.44054
Abstract: This research presents a model that integrates trust, online risks and benefits, brand awareness/associations, perceived quality and explains how they impact on brand equity and brand loyalty in the context of internet banking. The research model estimation uses the PLS approach and applies FIMIX-PLS to segment the sample. The research findings show that the main difference characterizing the two uncovered customer segments lies in the place of residence. Thus, the impact of online benefits on trust in the service provided is stronger for the first segment than for the second. For customers of the second segment, confidence in the bank’s web site information leads to a better perception of service quality and this is very important to ensure loyalty to the brand.
Featured-Based Algorithm for the Automated Registration of Multisensorial / Multitemporal Oceanographic Satellite Imagery
Francisco Eugenio,Javier Marcello
Algorithms , 2009, DOI: 10.3390/a2031087
Abstract: Spatial registration of multidate or multisensorial images is required for many applications in remote sensing. Automatic image registration, which has been extensively studied in other areas of image processing, is still a complex problem in the framework of remote sensing. In this work we explore an alternative strategy for a fully automatic and operational registration system capable of registering multitemporal and multisensorial remote sensing satellite images with high accuracy and avoiding the use of ground control points, exploiting the maximum reliable information in both images (coastlines not occluded by clouds), which have been coarsely geometrically corrected only using an orbital prediction model. The automatic feature-based approach is summarized as follows: i) Reference image coastline extraction; ii) Sensed image gradient energy map estimation and iii) Contour matching, mapping function estimation and transformation of the sensed images. Several experimental results for single sensor imagery (AVHRR/3) and multisensorial imagery (AVHRR/3-SeaWiFS-MODIS-ATSR) from different viewpoints and dates have verified the robustness and accuracy of the proposed automatic registration algorithm, demonstrating its capability of registering satellite images of coastal areas within one pixel.
Experiencia en la intervención con personas mayores en situación de dependencia en la Fundación Matia
Leturia Arrazola,Francisco Javier;
Intervención Psicosocial , 2007, DOI: 10.4321/S1132-05592007000100009
Abstract: the matia foundation is a private social institution that focuses its activity on safeguarding and improving the quality of life of the elderly and the disabled. in recent years, an extensive process of organisational change has been carried out within the foundation, based on the development of the psychosocial and social-health model, the specialisation and personalisation of the care, the generation of new specialised resources and the development of three fundamental areas of intervention. these three areas correspond to the social health area, the psychosocial area and the social/community integration and participation area. all of this has been carried out in conjunction with the development of the most advanced management systems. the psychosocial intervention model works in an interdisciplinary and complementary way between the different disciplines involved, in addition to the contributions that behavioural gerontology offers for the ambient design, care and treatments, etc. with a population that displays a high prevalence of dependent situations, neurological and psychiatric pathology, sensorial deficiencies etc. one of the main objectives we aim to meet via this model is to complement the family and social relationship with a competent team of professionals, organised according to their disciplines, offering high quality, highly professional care, which is friendly, personalised and humane, by incorporating voluntary staff and taking into consideration the family as the central point of the intervention with the user and resident. as regards the residential care model, we have aim to ensure execution by following the strategic planning of the activities carried out in the gerontology and residential centres and units in order to achieve a better quality of life for the elderly people in our care along with their families, in addition to guaranteeing and promoting their rights in order to fully satisfy their expectations with the maximum effectiveness and
Impacto de los cambios de precios relativos en pobreza y desigualdad en Colombia: 1998-2007
Lasso Valderrama,Francisco Javier;
Ensayos sobre POLíTICA ECONóMICA , 2008,
Abstract: based on the estimation of plutocratic and democratic price indexes for colombia, through individual inflation, i found evidence of the anti-poor effect of relative price shifts occurred between december 1998 and december 2007 and its regressivity with respect to income distribution. in 2001, 2002 and 2007 where the annual increases in food prices were above the national average, the inflation was regressive with regard to the income distribution. on the contrary, in 2000 and 2003 food inflation was below the national level and was progressive with regard to income distribution. on average, an increase of 3.5% in food prices, keeping other prices constant, national inflation increases by 1%, generating an increase of 0.62 percentage points in poverty and 0.14 percentage points in extreme poverty. in relative terms, extreme poverty increases by 2.9% while poverty only reaches 1.6%.
Cómo encontrar un lugar en el mundo: explorando experiencias de recuperación de personas con trastornos mentales graves
Macías, Francisco Javier Saavedra;
História, Ciências, Saúde-Manguinhos , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-59702011000100008
Abstract: this historical, conceptual, and cultural review of the concept of recovery within the realm of mental health discusses the last decade's research into the subjective experiences of people in the process of recovering from serious mental disorders and analyzes the differences between the notions of rehabilitation, integration, and recovery. after presenting a historical introduction, the article describes recovery experiences from three angles: identity and control over one's own life; personal and community relationships; and material resources, work, and other social activities. the concept of recovery entails new challenges and tensions that must be taken into account in the reform of mental health systems in europe and the americas.

Visi?3n de futuro , 2011,
Abstract: while diagnosing the current situation of small and medium sized family enterprises in latin america, it is common to find that one of its greatest weaknesses lies in the poor administrative management developed by its directors and / or owners, a fact resulting from the low levels of professionalization held by members of the organization. in this regard, strive for a balanced and efficient management committed to the training of leaders capable of ensuring profitability and growth processes of trade for these companies, within a coherent framework consistent with the requirements set by the current environment of globalization markets.
Agenesias dentarias: en busca de las alteraciones genéticas responsables de la falta de desarrollo
Kolenc Fusé,Francisco Javier;
Medicina Oral, Patología Oral y Cirugía Bucal (Ed. impresa) , 2004,
Abstract: tooth agenesis are the most common craniofacial malformations. its prevalence in permanent dentition reaches 20% and its expressivity ranges from only one tooth, usually a third molar, to the whole dentition. genetic linkage and molecular biology studies have allowed, in the last decade, the identification of mutations responsible for some patterns of syndromic and non-syndromic tooth agenesis. the mutated genes are key genes for the development of dentition, like the ones that encode the transcription factors msx1, pax9 and pitx2, the signalling protein eda and its receptor edar. current research would lead to the development of new classifications of tooth agenesis that took into account both the phenotypes and the genetic background. this would allow an early diagnosis of the condition, before the development of the somatic defect, that could eventually be repaired with gene therapy or tissue and organ engineering.
Incontinencia urinaria, cáncer de próstata y radioterapia externa
Celada álvarez,Francisco Javier;
Archivos Espa?oles de Urología (Ed. impresa) , 2009, DOI: 10.4321/S0004-06142009001000006
Abstract: external beam radiotherapy is consolidated like radical treatment for localized and locally advanced prostate cancer. in addition, more and more studies show its effectiveness as much in postoperative as in salvage intention. before choosing a therapeutic option, it is important to know the baseline state of the patients and the possible side effects of the treatment. in that way, different questionnaires and toxicity scales are at our disposal. acute effects, during the treatment and the following weeks, are due to irritating and inflammatory symptoms. chronic toxicity, months or years after radiotherapy, are consequence of the fibrosis and ischemia, as well as of alterations at the myogenic and neuronal level. urinary incontinence is a relatively uncommon symptom among patients who have been treated with radiotherapy. but, due to the profound impact on the quality of life of our patients, it is necessary to identify patients at higher risk. antecedent of transurethral resection of the prostate, before or after the irradiation, and severity of acute genitourinary toxicity increase the risk of developing incontinence.
Argumentación y construcción de validez en la Planificación Estratégica-Situacional de Matus
Rivera, Francisco Javier Uribe;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X2011000900018
Abstract: this study analyzes the process of producing a situational plan according to a benchmark from the philosophy of language and argumentation theory. the basic approach used in the analysis was developed by carlos matus. specifically, the study seeks to identify the inherent argumentative structure and patterns in the situational explanation and regulatory design in a plan's operations, taking argumentative approaches from pragma-dialectics and informal logic as the analytical parameters. the explanation of a health problem is used to illustrate the study. methodologically, the study is based on the existing literature on the subject and case analyses. the study concludes with the proposition that the use of the specific references means introducing greater rigor into both the analysis of the validity of causal arguments and the design of proposals for interventions, in order for them to be more conclusive in achieving a plan's objectives.
A gest?o situacional (em saúde) e a organiza??o comunicante
Uribe Rivera, Francisco Javier;
Cadernos de Saúde Pública , 1996, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-311X1996000300009
Abstract: in this paper, the organizational theory of situational planning is used to establish a decentralized management model for complex health units. because of cultural limitations imposed on a perspective of change and rationalization, considerations are made in relation to a given form of dealing with culture, keeping in mind the feasibility of the management model. a particular type of communicative management emerges as a general need revealed by the analysis of the object at issue: the management of professional organizations.
