A codicological census (of structure and decoration) and a comparative analysis of provinence and datation on the 24 decorative bookbindings from the membra disiecta group was undertaken. Each bookbinding got an illustrated document either taken in a form of a photography or in a pencil rubbing. I presented the main characteristics of decoration and chronological overview of the 24 items of membra disiecta bookbindings.

Knji?nica : Revija za Podro?je Bibliotekarstva in Informacijske Znanosti , 2006,
Abstract: The library of the Franciscan Monastery in Novo mesto keeps 224 early prints from the 16th century in which 175 printers’ and publishers’ devices were recorded. These were printed between 1501 and 1600 in 88 printers’ workshops across Europe. Printers’ and publishers’ devices, also called signets, were used in the 16th century as trademarks of respective printers and publishers. Spiritual and cultural ideas of the 16th century and intellectual goals of their owners are reflected in the complex humanistic motifs of signets. Most of the 16th century signets can be compared to impresas; they include a symbolic image and a short motto in Latin. This text presents some of the main characteristics of signets registered in Slovenia, such as the meaning, design features and motifs, dating from the early development of print culture in Europe.

Guerberof Hahn, Lidia
Anuario Musical , 2010,
Abstract: The music archive of the Franciscan monastery of the Province of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, in Celaya City, Guanajuato State, Mexico, specially preserves musical compositions of the 19th century, by local composers and European musicians as well. Its documentary holdings, and those of the Historic Archive too, survived to the occupation by the army in 1859, during the Reform War, a long struggle between Liberal and Conservative forces, which finished with the victory of the former and the election of Benito Juárez as a new President of the Republic in Mexico City.

The museum of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy of the University of Catania
Federica Maria Chiara Santagati
University Museums and Collections Journal , 2008,
Abstract: The University of Catania, founded in 1434, today has 15 museums, which were planned in 1997 and gradually opened over the following decade. The museum of the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy, known as the Museo della Fabbrica del Monastero dei Benedettini (Museum of the Benedictine Monastery Building), is housed in a section of the monumental complex of the Benedictine monastery, construction of which began in the sixteenth century. It is home to a small collection of objects which “narrates” the history of the monastery. // The monumental complex accommodates the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy. This building represents, in line with the cultural policy pursued by the faculty illustrated in this paper, the cultural heritage that is to be preserved, exhibited, communicated to and "shared" with the Catanese population. Thanks to this cultural policy of openness towards the public, which was introduced just a few years ago, the Faculty’s premises have become a vibrant museum, especially for those people living in the adjacent socially and economically deprived urban area called Antico Corso. The program for this neighborhood consists in the organization of events that aim at museum education and promote forms of social aggregation linking the university museum and the city: seminars on the development of the former Benedictine monastery, guided tours of the monastery for school pupils, exhibitions of their drawings related to these experiences, as well as further cultural events and educational programs. This new cultural policy has received an enthusiastic reaction from the citizens of the Antico Corso, who previously had contested the presence of the academy in the monastery building and had been totally unaware of its high cultural value.

Derrida’s Turn to Franciscan Philosophy
Marko Zlomislic
Kritike : an Online Journal of Philosophy , 2008,
Abstract: Contemporary French philosophers such as Levinas, Bataille, and Derrida, along with the existentialists Kierkegaard and Nietzsche have all made use of Franciscan insights in order to safeguard the ipseity that cannot be reduced or totalized. In keeping with the taste that concerns me, this paper will examine Derrida’s turn to the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins and how such a turn may place Derrida within a catholic and Franciscan tradition.
