Abstract: it was aimed at to correlate selfcare actions developed by patients that undergone coronary bypass with the variables: gender, age, occupation, marital status and family antecedents for cardiovascular diseases. exploratory-descriptive study, carried out at a cardiology hospital, in fortaleza-ce, with 52 patients that had undergone coronary bypass in a period less than one year. the patients' has the following profile: majority was men (53,84%), age from 65 years-old or more (59,61%), retired (71,15%), married (63,46%), with family predisposition for cardiovascular diseases (67,30%). women, elderly patients, married patients and the ones who have family predisposition for cardiovascular alterations had better selfcare practices, mainly when the patient is retired. the conclusion is that patients that participated in this research, keep a satisfactory selfcare level, supporting the importance of the group orientation process, in a continuous way and with different approaches to provide conditions to the patient who have been submitted to the coronary bypass to practice the selfcare.
Brazilian scientific production about nursing consultation applied to cancer patients

Abstract: Objectives: to identify the scientific production on the nursing consultation in oncology and analyze the methodologies used in these papers. Methodology: this is about a bibliographic study was conducted from May to June 2009, in articles published in the twenty-first century (2001-2009), by an electronic search in the database Latin American Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo) e Medical Literature On-Line (Medline). Met the inclusion criteria of six articles, which were analyzed and discussed according to the literature. Results: the methodological aspects prevailing were: four are research paper, one a report of experience and one convergent-care and all articles are qualitative. Concerning the characteristics of the populations studied, five investigated adult patients and one studied nurses. Regarding the subject of studies, were found three articles that addressed the implementation of nursing consultation, and the other evaluated each nursing consultation itself, its meaning for the patient and the significance for nurses. Conclusion: noticed that the number of publications related to the thematic nursing ambulatory consultation in the oncology practice in Brazil is very low.
Self-Care Practice of Patients with Mechanical Heart Valve Prosthesis Accompanied in Nursing Consultation  [PDF]

Abstract: The objective was to evaluate the practice of self-care of patients with mechanical heart valve prosthesis. A descriptive, cross-sectional study developed in two outpatient valvopathies of teaching hospitals of Fortaleza/CE, from October 2013 to January 2014. The sample consisted of 127 patients with mechanical heart valve prosthesis. It was held an interview using instrument based on the Theory of Orem’s Self-Care and Brazilian Guidelines for Valvular Heart Diseases. The data were presented in tables and charts. Results: Universal self-care practices of larger adhesion: body hygiene (97.6% washed-haired, daily-bath 92.1%); oral hygiene (brushing teeth before sleeping, 87.4%); fluid intake (drinking-water 95.2%); food intake (salt intake ≤ 2 g/day, 92.1%, fruit and vegetable consumption 79.5%); intestinal eliminations (without blood or mucus—96%, non-parasitic 94.4%); urinary elimination (no blood nor pus-96.8%, urination 4 to 6 times a day, 96%). As self-care developmental requirements predominated: never used illegal drugs, tobacco, alcohol, or stopped at the discovery of the disease (70%). As self-care health deviation requirements we have: making use of certain medication at the right dose (95.2%); attending medical appointments (cardiologist—92.1%; nursing—84.2%); INR control (identifies signs of bleeding— 85.8%). We conclude that patients did not perform all recommended self-care practices, being necessary to establish strategies to reduce the self-care deficit.
Integrative review of the nursing interventions used for the early detection of cervical uterine cancer

Abstract: in a national program to combat cervical uterine cancer (cuc) four basic elements should exist: primary prevention, early detection, diagnosis/treatment and palliative care. of these, early detection is the most effective modality. one of the purposes of evidence-based practice (ebp) is to encourage the use of research results with the assistance provided, reinforcing the importance of research for clinical practice. this study aimed to evaluate the evidence available in the literature regarding effective nursing interventions for the early detection of cuc. the selection of articles was performed in the databases: scopus, pubmed, cinahl, lilacs and cochrane. the sample of this review consisted of seven articles, with evidence levels 1, 2 or 3. the behavioral, cognitive and social interventions, showed positive effects in the early detection of cuc, especially the interactive cognitive interventions. it is suggested, when appropriate, to use a combination of interventions in order to obtain a more effective result.
The experience of aging: voices of an elderly group

Abstract: Objectives: to analyze the perception of an elderly social group in Sobral-CE city on the aging process, knowing the feelings and expectations of older adults, and examine the difficulties experienced by the elderly in old age. Methods: this is a descriptive study from qualitative approach, carried out with 10 elderly who participated in a semistructured interview from May to June 2009. This study has been approved by the Ethics Committee in Research of University of State Vale do Acaraú (protocol number 512). Results: regarding the experience of old age was apparent that older people reported great satisfaction in participating in the living group, due to improvement in quality of life characterized by happiness, comfort and the desire to live. About the difficulties experienced in old age, were reported to constraints in developing remunerated activities the difficulty of achieving retirement and health issues. Conclusion: the study shows the importance of professional of health to develop educational strategies that promote the autonomy of the elderly to ensure human dignity. It is also that the participation of people living in groups, with a view to empowerment, positive self translated into the lives of the elderly.

Abstract: the objective was to identify the intervenient factors in the adhesion to the anti-hypertensive treatment that contributed to the stroke appearance as complication of arterial hypertension. this is a descriptive quantitative study carried out in a stroke unit of a public hospital. the sample was composed by 75 patients with diagnosis of systemic arterial hypertension (sah) attacked by a stroke, admitted in the referred unit. data collection happened in march and april 2010. the study was approved by the research and ethics committee under protocol no. 110302/10. the intervenient factors in patients' adhesion to the anti-hypertensive treatment were: male (61.4%), older than 60 years-old (48%), family history of sah (68%), low education (72%), family income up to one minimum wage (52%), unsatisfactory professional-patient relationship (14.6%), difficult access to health unit (6.6%) and presence of side effects (22.6%). maybe the experience of a stroke is a decisive factor to patient's adherence to antihypertensive treatment. it is necessary that nurses carry out monitoring the patients with hypertension regularly, informing them about the disease and treatment to prevent complications.

Abstract: this study aimed at checking the nursing knowledge produced about adolescence in brazil from 1979 to 2000. the document-based research listed abstracts of dissertations and theses contained on the cd-rom of the centro de estudos e pesquisas em enfermagem (cepen), the topics of which were adolescence/adolescent. the results, discussed in accordance with the concepts of meleis (1997) and the relevant literature, show 46 works, 37 of them dissertations, defended in the southeast region (32), developed mostly between 1995 e 1999. the theoretical and methodological tendencies showed prevalence of clinical studies (22) related to the adolescent, of a qualitative nature (34). we concluded that there is a need for studies that include the adolescent in his/her family and community context. also, greater incentive is necessary for the development of theses in poorer regions of the country.

Abstract: it was aimed at evaluating the professionals' satisfaction of a municipal pediatric hospital of fortaleza with relationship to the humanization of the attendance in the hospital, as national program of humanization of the hospital assistance extolled by ministry of health. the descriptive study had as sample 38 professionals. the data collection was carried out by a questionnaire, being the data presented in tables. interaction was detected between the administration of the hospital and the professionals by internal discussions to evaluate the service. they consider the work environment is confortable for their work practice, therefore some improvement was indicated. the support for the professionalswas suggested as an improvement point. the professionals suggested trainings, improvement of the atmosphere of the hospital and quality of the attendance. it is expected that this study supplies subsidies for the planning of actions favorable for the humanization of hospital assistance.
Nursing’s records to the control of hydric balance

Abstract: Objective: to analyze the nursing records made in the hydric balance of hospitalized patients. Methods: this is about a documental study, performed at the intensive care unit of a public hospital in Fortaleza, Ceará. We analyzed 16 charts of patients hospitalized for at least three days, totaling 48 printed papers. A structured form was used, containing aspects related to the volumes of administered and eliminated liquids. Data were displayed on tables. The study was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee under No. 246/05. Results: all the charts had records of water balance. However, 58.3% were complete, 83.3% were legible; 56.2% had no eresures. Regarding the administration of medicines, 45.8% did not appear in the records of liquids administered orally. The record on the intravenous administration is the most frequent (93.7%). The numeric records of the amount of diuresis were present in 36 forms. Conclusion: nursing notes in relation to the hydric balance must be reviewed and reordered, with a view to improving the preparation of care plan, which should be systematic, individualized and humanized.

Abstract: objective: to evaluate the adherence of patients, with chronic renal failure (crf), to hemodialysis treatment. method: this is a descriptive-quantitative study, conducted in a hemodialysis unit in fortaleza-ce, the sample population was composed of 45 clients undergoing hemodialysis, who were interviewed. results: the reactions of crf patients confronted with the diagnosis were: 58% negative, 33% indifferent and 9% positive. the reactions related to hemodialysis were: 73.4% negative, 13.3% indifferent and 13.3% positive. the main difficulties in adhering were: transportation, length of the session, pain caused by the puncture made with the fistula, financial factors, dependence of companions, and knowledge deficit. the strategies to adhering were: fear of death, faith in god, hope for transplant, and family support. conclusion: it was found that the crf patients adhere to treatment to survive, but many do not complied.
