Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of the lead absorption by the aquatic macrofit Eichhornia crassipes in the wastewater treatment of an automotive batteries recycling industry located at county of Paula de Freitas, state of Paraná, Brazil. For that, the relation of humid green mass of water hyacinth by solution volume was optimized and, in follow the method was employed in the industrial wastewater treatment. The results permitted to conclude that the lead and other metals (Fe, Cu, Zn e Cr) absorption efficiency depends straightly of the water hyacinth mass (g) by solution volume (L), being 40 and 50 g L-1 the more efficient relations showing equivalents results in wastewaters containing until 30 mg L-1 of contaminant. Factors as pH and temperature in the analyzed values no had an expressive influence. For the treatment of wastewater contaminated by lead of the small and mean industries which recycle automotive batteries, the utilization of water hyacinth is practicable in the optimized conditions. It′s necessary a refined study for the definition of the best alternative of treatment/final disposal of the water hyacinth biomass after the wastewater treatment.Key-words: green house, composting, stabilization lagoon, heavy metal.

Abstract: Research has shown that dissatisfied couples in the relationship commonly exhibit facial expressions of contempt in interactions. At this point, based on the study of cognition and physiology, researchers were able to predict by longitudinal studies the probability of divorce in a marriage, with accuracy of up to 94%. Our objective was to investigate whether the occurrence of facial expressions of disgust and contempt in married women is associated with marital dissatisfaction. This is an experimental study that correlated, through filmed interviews, the frequency of facial expressions of disgust and disgust (Facial Action Coding System) to the Marital State’s Golombok Rust Inventory, in a sample composed of 20 women. Data analysis based on the Spearman Correlation Test showed a positive correlation between facial expressions of disgust and disdain and conjugal dissatisfaction (rs = 0.2198, p = 0.0280), corroborating the data in the literature.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of two rest intervals on structural sward characteristics and productive performance of beef heifers reared on Campos grassland managed on rotational grazing. The treatments were two intervals between grazing of 375 and 750 DD (degree days), based on thermal cumulative sum for leaf expansion of native grasses belonging to two functional groups. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with two treatments and three replications. The tested animals were beef heifers with initial age of 12 months and average weight of 185.2 ± 17.4 kg. Measures in the pasture were: herbage mass, mass of green leaf blades, stem mass, dead material mass and green leaf allowance. The 750 DD rest interval presented higher herbage mass (24%), higher green herbage mass and 19% more leaves in the canopy. This rest interval also presents a high proportion of dead material and stems in the sward structure. In the other way, the 375 DD rest interval presents better chemical characteristics, with 20% more crude protein in the hand plucking samples. Heifers’ dry matter intake was similar between the rest intervals (2.04% of live weight) and the bite mass was also similar (0.22 g DM per bite) but the animal performance was higher in the 375 DD rest interval. The stocking density showed similarity between treatments with an average of 875 kg/LW/ha. The live weight gain per area was higher in 40 kg/LW/ha (P = 0.117) for 375 DD rest interval, reaching 251 kg/LW/ha produced over the 149 experimental days. Based on these results, we can conclude that the treatment of shortest interval between defoliation gave the highest gain individual

Abstract: The use of low power light sources, such as diodes emitters of light – LEDs, provides an alternative and complementary therapeutic resource to the conventional ones, with the advantage of being cost-effective and reliable in the treatment of ulcers and other infirmities. This study was carried out on a patient from the HC/UEL Outpatient Clinic with ulcers on both lower limbs. LEDs were applied once a week, using a wave length of 628 nm on the left lower limb ulcer ,using the right limb as control. Evolution was measured through photographic registers, area size and pain assessment. Eighteen sessions were performed. Results showed that changes were observed on the clinical characteristics of the injury and the healed area was 30% larger when compared to the control. As for the pain assessment, the visual analogue scale varied from eight to zero on the limb radiated and from nine to two on the control.
