Mucoadhesive drug delivery systems
Carvalho, Flávia Chiva;Bruschi, Marcos Luciano;Evangelista, Raul Cesar;Gremi?o, Maria Palmira Daflon;
Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-82502010000100002
Abstract: drug actions can be improved by developing new drug delivery systems, such as the mucoadhesive system. these systems remain in close contact with the absorption tissue, the mucous membrane, releasing the drug at the action site leading to a bioavailability increase and both local and systemic effects. mucoadhesion is currently explained by six theories: electronic, adsorption, wettability, diffusion, fracture and mechanical. several in vitro and in vivo methodologies are proposed for studying its mechanisms. however, mucoadhesion is not yet well understood. the aim of this study was to review the mechanisms and theories involved in mucoadhesion, as well as to describe the most-used methodologies and polymers in mucoadhesive drug delivery systems.
Corrositex?, BCOP and HET-CAM as alternative methods to animal experimentation
Cazedey, Edith Cristina Laignier;Carvalho, Flávia Chiva;Fiorentino, Flávia Angélica Másquio;Gremi?o, Maria Palmira Daflon;Salgado, Hérida Regina Nunes;
Brazilian Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-82502009000400021
Abstract: tests in animals are used as models in toxicological and investigative studies. however, such tests have been considered inhumane because they can cause pain and suffering to experimental animals, while these methods can often be subjective. protests calling for animal protection have questioned the effectiveness of in vivo tests and suggest the introduction of alternative, in vitro methods. international organizations, such as the interagency coordinating committee on the validation of alternative methods (iccvam), the national institute of health (nih), the organization for economic co-operation and development (oecd), that regulate and develop new alternative animal models, have indicated the running of preliminary assays and execution of sequential tests, which consider physical-chemical properties and data of in vitro assays, before performing in vivo studies. towards this background, the objective of the present article was to select promising alternative methods such as corrositex?, bcop and het-cam, intended to refine or replace the use of animals and reduce their suffering.
Gênero e política no noticiário das revistas semanais brasileiras: ausências e estereótipos
Biroli, Flávia;
Cadernos Pagu , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-83332010000100011
Abstract: the present article analyses the relationship between gender and politics in brazilian weekly news magazines veja, época e carta capital, in 2006 and 2007. data allows a discussion about the scant presence of women in news magazines and the presence of gender stereotypes that refer to understandings of women's role and their competence to act in public life. analysing women who had most visibility within the chronological limits of the research - heloisa helena, marta suplicy e dilma rousseff -, it discusses representations of femininity and masculinity, private and public, that give specific meanings to the presence of men and women in politics and the media.
Para uma vis?o transformadora da supervis?o pedagógica
Vieira, Flávia;
Educa??o & Sociedade , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-73302009000100010
Abstract: the main purpose of this paper is to propose a trans-formative vision of pedagogical supervision within a democratic value framework based on the assumption that the goals and the nature of supervisory and pedagogical practices should be articulated and that both should be empowering. a proposal for conceptualizing the relation between supervision and pedagogy is presented, which assumes that they cannot be dissociated and should be oriented towards empowerment through a set of guiding principles. conditions that favor and hamper this direction are then discussed on the basis of a supervision project that has been developed at the university of minho since 1995. this project illustrates the potential value, constraints and paradoxes of supervision as a practice that stands between the reproduction and the transformation of the social order that is implicit in the contexts of intervention.
Parceria intergeracional e forma??o docente
Sarti, Flávia Medeiros;
Educa??o em Revista , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-46982009000200006
Abstract: the paper focuses on the formative potential of the intergenerational partnership on teacher education - initial and continuous - presupposing the existence of a professional culture peculiar to teachers (julia, 2001), the teachers' role as producers of knowledge about the teaching itself (shulman, 1986; tardif, lessard e lahaye, 1991), and the significance of schools as an axis for teachers education (nóvoa, 1999; azanha, 2000). information about a formative project, in progress since 2006 in rio claro/ brazil, is presented. the project puts unesp′s pedagogy students and primary teachers together. according to the purpose, current and coming teachers are partners that collaborate on teaching. besides the professional education of the subjects involved, the investment on this partnership aims at developing a more collaborative dimension on teachers'culture.

O que as crian?as podem fazer pela antropologia?
Pires, Flávia;
Horizontes Antropológicos , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-71832010000200007
Abstract: this text aims to show how the study of children can lead to a review of vital concepts in the history of anthropology. more specifically, will address the concept of society and its correlate, the concept of culture. for this discussion we use the studies undertaken by marilyn strathern and christina toren. additionally, when discussing the validity and relevance of the concepts of society and culture, tim ingold will contribute to the debate given that he introduces the biology in order to comprehend the culture. we also address the thoughts of thomas csordas and margaret mead, from the latter we retain her emphasis on ethnography and dialogue with the first on the concept of culture. the idea that pervades the whole article is that the so-called childhood world or child's world is an interesting field to discuss anthropological theory.
A inicia??o sexual na juventude de mulheres e homens
Rieth, Flávia;
Horizontes Antropológicos , 2002, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-71832002000100004
Abstract: this paper discusses the constitutive meanings of sexual initiation in youth, a time when, based on the choices of ideal partner and the use or non-use of condoms, we see more clearly the grammar of gender relations in this population. the methodology used was ethnographic research, carried out among 42 young people - 24 women and 18 men - between the ages of 15 and 19, from middle class families from the city of pelotas, in the state of rio grande do sul. this context highlights aspects of a traditional moral code in confrontation with the sexual initiation of men and women. we identify the perpetuation of a gender asymmetry where young women perceive themselves in a relational way, investing in the relationship, while young men seek to assert themselves as individuals through sexuality. the ficar (making out) emerges as an alternative form of affective involvement without commitment.
