Abstract: the state of mato grosso do sul (ms) is one of the main brazilian producers in the agricultural sector. to maintain this status, however, it will be necessary both to know and use rationally its soil resources. this way, it will be necessary methods of soil research that are efficient and fast in obtain information, as well as of low-cost to support land use planning. since relief is an important factor of soil formation, aerial photos and satellite images analysis can be used to detect landscape features that help to characterize and discriminate soils. therefore, the goals of this study were: (a) to identify different soil classes and verify their relationships with landscape aspects by the interpretation of aerial photos; and (b) to use radiometric data, obtained from satellite images analysis, to discriminate soils or groups of soils on landscape. to do so, it was evaluated the relationship between soil classes and relief and drainage aspects, obtained by the interpretation of aerial photos in conjunction with spectral data obtained by satellite image analysis of 14 circular samples (cs) of the maracaju city in the ms state. the drainage density (dd), determined in the cs, showed positive correlation with the soil ki index and base saturation (v%) index, thus allowing discriminate soil classes of the studied area with 85.7 % of certainty, whereas the spectral data only discriminated soils by the textural classes of their surface layer. on the other hand, it was also observed that soils with fe2o3 content higher than 180 g kg-1 had their textural classes poorly differentiated by using the spectral data.
Expectativas racionais e eficiência informacional: análise do mercado acionário brasileiro no período 1997-1999
Perobelli, Fernanda F. Cordeiro;Perobelli, Fernando S.;Arbex, Marcelo Aarestrup;
Revista de Administra??o Contemporanea , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-65552000000200002
Abstract: the purpose of this paper is to test the brazilian capital market's efficiency in face of monetary policy. in the period between the asian crisis and the exchange flexibilization, the agents made a correct use of the available information and formed expectations about the policymaker's behavior, even in the moments of crisis, in order to maintain the political rules adopted previously. the study's approach was based on the discussion about rational expectations and their relationship with efficient markets. the bolsa de valores de s?o paulo index (ibovespa) was chosen as a proxy to brazilian capital market's behavior, because the index variation can be understood as the rate of return in that market. to evaluate the return's behavior, the wilcoxon ranks test was employed. from this statistical test's results, it was possible to infer that the brazilian market was efficient in face of the behavior of economic policy by rules.
Avalia??o da intensidade de emiss?es de CO2 setoriais e na estrutura de exporta??es: um modelo interregional de insumo-produto S?o Paulo/restante do Brasil
Carvalho, Terciane Sabadini;Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;
Economia Aplicada , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502009000100005
Abstract: this paper quantifies co2 emissions resulting from the consumption of energy fuels, assuming a hybrid interregional input-output analysis for the regions of sao paulo and rest of brazil, using the matrix of 1996. we calculated the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions to 15 sectors, identifying the portion of total emissions due to the final demand and consumption intermediated. moreover, the key-sector's emissions were calculated by elasticities, identifying the sectors of agriculture, steel, food and beverages, other sectors and transport in the two regions analyzed. finally, was also analyzed the amount of co2 incorporated in exports, noting that the agenda of brazilian exports is largely pollution intensive.
Mudan?as estruturais da economia mineira e do restante do Brasil: uma análise de insumo-produto para o período 1996-2003
Souza, Rafael Morais de;Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;
Nova Economia , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512009000300002
Abstract: the input-output matrix is a framework widely used to analyze the productivity structure and the industry interdependence both in national and regional terms. thus, it is an important feature in the planning process. however, the construction is costly and the publication, sometimes, is made with a lag. therefore, this paper upgrades the input-output matrix for minas gerais state and the rest of brazil (bdmg and fipe, 2002) for the period between 1997 and 2003. based on those matrices, it will be possible to analyze the changes occurred on minas gerais and in the rest of brazil. in order to verify the characteristics of minas gerais state we will use the production multiplier and the idea of backward and forward linkages.
Efeitos tecnológicos e estruturais nas emiss?es brasileiras de CO2 para o período 2000 a 2005: uma abordagem de análise de decomposi??o estrutural (SDA)
Silva, Marcos Paulo Novais;Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;
Estudos Econ?micos (S?o Paulo) , 2012, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-41612012000200004
Abstract: the aim of this paper is the measurement of the changes in productive structure upon carbon dioxide emissions in brazil. the method used was the structural decomposition analysis. this is a method derived from input-output allowing more detail in the decomposition of technological change and demand of the production process. thus using a database of emissions from the balance of emissions, equivalent and final energy and ibge input-output matrices, both for 2000 and 2005 and adapted for 15 brazilians economic sectors. the main results indicate that the sectors of transport, steel and food and beverages are those that were more likely to increase emissions, when considered variation in final demand, and industry sectors of cement, non-metallic minerals and pulp and paper stand out for reduction of emissions due to technological change.
Exporta??es internacionais e intera??es regionais: uma análise de equilíbrio geral
Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;Haddad, Eduardo Amaral;
Estudos Econ?micos (S?o Paulo) , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0101-41612006000400007
Abstract: trade can be an important stimulus to rapid economic growth, although it might not be a desirable strategy for economic and social development. the contribution to development depends on the nature of the export sector, the distribution of its benefits, and the sector?s linkages with the rest of the economy recently, however, given the focus on globalization issues and the implicit assumption that a region?s economic future is inextricably tied with its ability to compete in the international export market, international trade has attracted the attention of regional analysts as well. in this paper we address some of these issues. an interstate cge model is implemented to simulate the likely implications of state export growth on the structure of the brazilian economic interregional system.
Padr?es de comércio interestadual no Brasil, 1985 e 1997
Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;Haddad, Eduardo Amaral;
Revista de Economia Contemporanea , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S1415-98482006000100003
Abstract: the aim of this paper is explore the spatial distribution of the interregional trade among the 27 brazilian states for the years 1985 and 1997. to implement this methodology we use, as a dataset, the interregional exports and imports flows (confaz and ibge). based on a set of tools of spatial analysis it is possible to detect the presence of global and local spatial autocorrelation in the distribution of trade and its components. the results of lisa statistics enable us to observe the presence of spatial heterogeneity in the interregional trade during the period of analysis. this paper concludes that the detection of spatial clusters of high and low interregional trade throughout the period is an indication of the persistence of spatial disparities among the brazilian states.
Brazil-Argentina trade and its impacts in brazilian states
Eduardo A. Haddad,Edson P. Domingues,Fernando S. Perobelli
Investigaciones Regionales , 2005,
Abstract: This paper aims to evaluate a number of spatial aspects of Brazil’s currentcommercial policy, emphasizing those relating to bilateral trade with Argentina,its main trading partner in Mercosur. A national computable general equilibrium modelwas developed and implemented (EFES-ARG) —integrated with an interstatetrade model—, in order to evaluate the sectoral/regional impacts of different tradestrategies towards Argentina. The analysis of the short-run regional aspects of Brazil-Argentina trade relations reveals a trend towards concentration of the level of economicactivity in the states of the Brazilian south and southeast.
Intera??es energéticas entre o Estado de Minas Gerais e o restante do Brasil: uma análise inter-regional de insumo-produto
Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;Mattos, Rogério Silva de;Faria, Weslem Rodrigues;
Economia Aplicada , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502007000100006
Abstract: this paper analyses the interactions between the state of minas gerais and the rest of brazil with regard to energy consumption. a hybrid interregional input-output model, by means of which energy intensity measures are computed, is used to undertake the analysis. the energy measures allow, for instance, to assess the degree in which a sector production in minas gerais impacts the energy consumption inside and outside the state. also, the measures allow to assess the degree in which a sector production in the rest of brazil (outside minas gerais) impacts energy consumption inside and outside the state. the analysis presents disaggregate information for 14 economic sectors, two spatial areas (minas gerais and the rest of brazil), and one kind of energy use (total energy), thus allowing to trace an accurate portrait of interdependence patterns. a conclusion is that the methodology provides relevant information for the state managers/planners in the development of efficient strategies to guarantee energy supply.

Betarelli Junior, Admir Ant?nio;Bastos, Suzana Quinet de Andrade;Perobelli, Fernando Salgueiro;
Economia Aplicada , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502011000200004
Abstract: the main aim of this paper is to construct a complete analysis of exports and the transportation modals in the brazilian economy. the global analysis will be based on the followed indicators: requirement coefficients, rasmussem-hirshman linkages, variability indexes and field of influence. the main results show that exports to aladi and mercosur are dependent on rail services, the road's interdependence is well distributed and modal maritime represent the key-modal for the exports to china, nafta and european union. moreover, the iron ore stands on the demand for all modals when exporting to china.
