Use of SFC in Extraction of Adaptogens from Brazilian Plants  [PDF]

Bioactive substances found in plants are very interesting because of their importance in medicine and foods. Species of Pfaffia genre is common in Brazil, the largest center of collection of this species. Statistics report that 11,000 tons of roots and other plants were exported in 2011. Due to the large market demand, a growth of 10% per year is estimated. One of the promising areas of study involves the supercritical fluid extraction of active compounds present in plants. The current goal is to reduce dependence on foreign markets. The extraction of bioactive compound known as Beta-Ecdysone has been studied. Statistics show that profits of exports coming from the raw material is almost ten times smaller than the extract itself. Considering this fact, we emphasize the importance of an alternative method of industrial extraction in Brazil using supercritical technology, which proves to be environmentally safe.

Abstract: Enzymatic activities are important to be quantified in products as enzymatic cleaners, which are used in medical and surgical devices reprocessing. Enzymatic activities are critical for the proper chemical cleaning that intends to remove solid organic dirt from inaccessible sites. The most important enzyme for this purpose is the protease, which is able to dissolve the main dirt attached to medical and surgical instruments. In this context, this study contributes to the development of a new proteolytic activity quantification method and its validation. The methodology is based on colorimetry and uses a UV-Vis spectrophotometer to measure the substrate hydrolysis by the blue color intensity, employing Protazyme AK tablets as substrate.
La privatización de YPF en Comodoro Rivadavia: Algunas características y consecuencias sociales y laborales

Abstract: the objective of this article is to analyze the process of privatization of the company ypf in the san jorge gulf, more specifically in the comodoro rivadavia area, province of chubut. i am interested in studying the social consequences of this privatization in terms of the labour market, but also paying attention to the cultural, social, and political aspects that were also altered. first, i will present a brief description and analysis of the characteristics of the oil company's privatization, and of the peculiar production conditions it had in the patagonian region. then, i will stop on the different labor strategies which originated after the sale of the company, which are related to proposals of labor rehabilitation or of reconfiguration of the labor market structure, and on their results. finally, i am interested in introducing the topic of the "indirect" consequences of the reconfiguration of the main economic company of the region, i.e. the redefinition of the main variables of the social, political, cultural, and economical life of the area. i am particularly interested in analyzing whether a change in the concept of "work" can be observed, and also the territorial displacements which occurred in the city of comodoro and its area of influence. this analysis will be carried through the study of an unemployed people's movement of the region: "coordinadora de trabajadores desocupados - anibal verón."
Performatividad, liminalidad y politicidad en la práctica teatral del colectivo La Patogallina

Abstract: lhe following essay tries to analyze and contextualize the exhibition of the play el húsar de la muerte, carried out by the artistic collective la patogallina at the government house of chile, la moneda, in the framework of the inauguration of the vii international festival lheater (filam) in 2001. in order to carry out the analysis, we propose the categories of liminality, performativity and politicity which allow conceiving this episode not from conventional theatrical structures, but from a transdisciplinary point of view. lhese categories plus the ideological, aesthetic and organizational backgrounds of the collective will allow us to understand the bursting of la patogallina in la moneda as an event which was marked by the conflicts with the augusto pinochet trial. lhis can be read as a fracture in the festivity/cultural space and the normative consensus that articulated the ?politics of aperture? from la moneda to all citizens.

Abstract: this paper explores from a theoretical and interpretative perspective, the poem “relámpago”, published in ralum, by the mapuche-huilliche (and chilean) poet adriana paredes pinda (osorno, 1970). this reading (about this particular poetic discourse) intends to identify problematical poetic folds where the subject-woman-mestiza is constructed, from an in-between cultures of the body, and a borderland experience of the poet’s own existence. therefore,, from a historical perspective, the indigenous cultural experience is viewed here in permanent conflict with the ethnocentric chilean western history. according to this, it is necessary to consider the cultural context of production of paredes’ text, and also the function of the poet as an empiric sender. in the poem, she is part of the “performance” (a reflexive process) to a “para sí”, defining herself -the poet and her mestiza-bordeland body-, as a multiple protagonist and ideal reader of the text. from this integrative focus, we study the text from an articulating dialogue in relation to specific theoretical spaces

Abstract: this article is intended to make a critical approach to the narrative of abilio estévez, an exiled cuban writer. to that effect, i will begin with the identification and questioning of his aesthetic procedures: in terms of rhetoric (semantic field, metaphor, allegory) and structure (intertextuality, polyphony, marginal notes, paratext, metaliterary). it is possible to observe how his literary project is able to articulate subjetion-commoratio aesthetics. in this context, cuba (la habana) is presented as the writer's material and the "totalizing narrator" as its canvas.

Abstract: this article analyzes the brazilian period of claude lévi-strauss (1935-1938), tracing his publications, classes, and research during the time in which he was a professor of sociology at the universidade de s?o paulo in order to better understand the place brazil occupied in his intellectual itinerary. the purpose is to show that although this period was brief (and largely silenced), it was crucial to subsequent developments in the author's career as ethnologist and americanist. the text also assesses the significance of lévi-strauss' coming to brazil in the french context of the time, when americanism was a scarcely explored terrain, contrary to africanism, a "calling" then in vogue.

Abstract: this article aims to situate the presence of children and of childhood itself in some of the short stories and novels by machado de assis. based on the understanding of childhood as a fundamental time in human existence, it intends to emphasize the recovery of this time through memory, as a defining recognition of oneself; supported by the belief that the author's writings were an exercise of the human soul's interpretation, it pursues an understanding of how the writer places the child's figure in face of the attitudes that demand the recognition of the other. finally, through the thought of machado de assis, translated in fiction, it intends to show how their arguments may be helpful to a better understanding of the complex issues surrounding children and childhood nowadays.

Abstract: the present article exposes the results of four years of research on one of the social movements of unemployed people who arose in the last decade in argentina: the ctd-aníbal verón. analyzes the par-ticular coexistence in the interior of the ctd of clientelist mechanisms of social and political interaction, with new characteristics of identity and firmly structured around a social and political configuration that gives origin to this bound of identity, combining it with the territorial dimension in which the life of the organization ocurrs. for this, it approaches the analysis of the type of configuration and political roll that incarnates these expressions, their contradictory combinations between old and discredited political practices with novel forms to articulate the politician and the social thing in projects with objectives towards emancipation.
Prat de Teatro de Chile: Una fábula nacional prófuga atravesando las junturas entre arte y política

Abstract: this article takes as starting point the play prat, of the company teatro de chile, whose first performance in the year 2002 appeared so disjointed and impertinent that it unleashed a polemic involving ultra conservative sectors, the ministerial bureaucracy and the artistic world, revealing the fissured zones of a truncated democratic transition. thus, this text begins with an aesthetic-artistic analysis of the play, to then look over the speeches - collected from the press and from personal interviews - of the different po-litical and artistic agents, who engaged in the controversy about prat’s first performance. finally, we outline some reflective notes about the role of cultural institutionalism in the theatrical field, and a critical review of bourdieu’s category of relative autonomy to understand the artistic fields.
