Abstract: Serious land degradation have been occurring during the building of new roads associated with the construction of Deriner Dam, one of 15 large dams planned by the General Directorate of State Hydraulic Affairs and implemented within the Coruh Dam Projects. In this study, whether terracing and planting of seedling efforts in degraded areas as a result of building new roads within erosion control and reforestation efforts have any effect on improving soil characteristics were investigated. In accordance with this purpose, parameters including soil texture, pH, organic matter, total nitrogen, total lime, and electrical conductivity were determined for 45 soil samples taken from three different areas; two of which were erosion control areas where terraces built and planted with acacia and yellow pine seedlings, along an undisturbed (control) area with natural forests. After evaluating statistical analyses run on the soils data, it was determined that the reforestation efforts have resulted in improvements of soil properties at some degree but when they are compared to the soils of the undisturbed natural forest, it is clear that the degree of improvement is not sufficient yet. For example, while the organic matter of 3.71% and pH of 7.69 were determined for the forest area, same parameters were found as 1.13% and 7.99 for the acacia and 0.86% and 7.93 for the yellow pine areas, respectively.

Abstract: The intricate system of the Present Tense form of Tatar dialectlanguage is analyzed in the article. Compared with the literary language, where the given temporal meaning is expressed only with the form – a, itis viewed through 6 synthetic forms and 2 analytical ones.Only the form with –a from all these forms is a consistent elementof all identified systems and therefore it comprises the core part of theTatar dialect language. The middle dialect (dialect of Kazan Tatars) hasno special features and corresponds to the literal language according itsform. The third person singular in the Mishar dialect is formed by meansof the relict affix –d r. Dialects of Siberian Tatars are contradistinguishedto others with the exponent –t , which finds its origins in the Old Turkicauxiliary verb “turur”.Each form of the Present Tense of the Tatar dialect language, besides semantic peculiarities, has its own separate expansion territoryand therefore they form different isoglosses in Tatar linguistic area. Turkish Studies , 2012,
Abstract: The plan of Future tense in Tatar dialect language is realized by forms with –yr/-ыр, –achak-ачак, -asy/-асы, –mak/-мак, –galak/-галак. Future tense with –yr/-ыр is represented in all dialects. Therefore it is the core element of the diasystem. For example, forms with –asy/-асы, –achak/–ачак, –mak/-мак, -galak/-галак are represented not in specific systems. For example, forms of Future tense with -asy/-асы, –achak/ –ачак are typical only for some subdialects of the middle (dialect of Kazan Tatars) dialect. Nevertheless, these forms are the significant and distinctive features of them. Outside the Tatar dialect language system this isogloss contains Oguz languages.Isogloss of forms with –mak/-мак and –galak/-галак are located only in Baraba dialects. According to the usage the given forms of Future tense the Baraba dialect reveals the definite likeness with Kazakh language (forms with -–mak/-мак) from one hand, and with the neighbor Siberian-Turkic languages (-galak/-галак ) from the other one.The only form of Future tense in Mishar dialect is the form with -yr/-ыр. Mishar dialect also keeps the strict sameness in conjugation of this form. In this case it brings together with other Kipchak languages. Abstract: It is believed that the pattern of a country’sbalance of payments is linked to level of economicdevelopment. Balance of payments stages thesisstates that the stages occur as the economy movesthorough phases growth. This paper examines theempirical relevance of the balance of paymentsstages in Turkish case. Runs up and down test showthat Turkey balance of payments has not fallowedany regular pattern. Therefore balance o paymentsstages thesis is not verified with Turkish data(1968-2004).
World Englishes, English as an International Language and Applied Linguistics

English Language Teaching , 2009, DOI: 10.5539/elt.v2n3p35
Abstract: The study discusses World Englishes (WEs) in relation to English as an International Language (EIL) and Applied Linguistics. Taking into account Kachru's interesting but at the same time controversial debate about the status of English in its varieties, which is commonly called WEs and the opposing ideas presented by Quirk, it is aimed to present an overview of these discussions, providing some examples. Kachru's three concentric circles, the Interlanguage theory, Standard English and English as a Lingua France (ELF) were paid special attention while touching upon the controversial debates on World Englishes. Moreover, following these discussions on Wes, EIL and Applied Linguistics, some questions tried to be answered about teaching and teacher education, seeing that the uses of English internationally are not just related to the Expanding Circle, but also it includes native speakers as well as members of the Outer Circle.
Is export orientation a major motivator for the adoption of food safety systems in the Turkish dried fig firms?

Journal of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Tropics and Subtropics , 2012,
Abstract: Food safety management systems (FSMSs) and the scrutinisation of the food safety practices that are intended for adoption on the firm level both offer strategic value to the dried fig sector. This study aims to prove the hypothesis that export orientation is a major motivating force for the adoption of food safety systems in the Turkish dried fig firms. Data were obtained from 91 dried fig firms located in Aydin, Turkey. Interviews were carried out with firms’ managers/owners using a face-to-face questionnaire designed from May to August of 2010. While 36.3 percent of the interviewed firms had adopted one or more systems, the rest had no certification. A binomial logistic econometric model was employed. The parameters that influenced this decision included contractual agreements with other firms, implementation of good practices by the dried fig farmers, export orientation and cost-benefit ratio. Interestingly, the rest of the indicators employed had no statistically significant effect on adoption behaviour. This paper focusses on the export orientation parameter directly in order to test the validity of the main research hypothesis. The estimated marginal effect suggests that when dried fig firms are export-oriented, the probability that these firms will adopt food safety systems goes up by 39.5 percent. This rate was the first range observed among all the marginal probability values obtained and thus verified the hypothesis that export orientation is a major motivator for the adoption of food safety systems in the Turkish dried fig firms.
Generalised Thurston-Bennequin invariants for real algebraic surface singularities

Mathematics , 2002, DOI: 10.1007/s00229-005-0549-2
Abstract: A generalised Thurston-Bennequin invariant for a Q-singularity of a real algebraic variety is defined as a linking form on the homologies of the real link of the singularity. The main goal of this paper is to present a method to calculate the linking form in terms of the very good resolution graph of a real normal unibranch surface singularity. For such singularities, the value of the linking form is the Thurston-Bennequin number of the real link of the singularity. As a special case of unibranch surface singularities, the behaviour of the linking form is investigated on the Brieskorn double points x^m+y^n\pm z^2=0.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this ex vivo study, with SEM, was to determine the effects of the smear layer on the root canal systems after different instrumentation technique and irrigation protocol, obturated with carrier based gutta-percha (Soft Core) and AH26 sealer. Materials & Methods: Forty freshly extracted human teeth were used for this study. The teeth were divided into two major groups according to instrumentation technique (Manual and ProFile) and then each major group into four subgroups according to irrigation protocol (Saline solution, 17% EDTA, 5.25% NaOCl). All of the samples were obturated with AH26 and Soft Core Heating Gutta-percha. The evaluation of the objectives was performed using a Scanning Electron Microscope. Result: ProFile instrumentation followed with irrigation of 17% EDTA and 5.25% NaOCl, selaed with AH26 Soft Core Heating Guttapercha provided maximal contact at the S/D interface. The S/D interface had a serrated appearance due to effective penetration of the sealer into the patent dentin tubules. Conclusions: The adhezion of the respective sealer is more successful in cases when smear layer was removed completely.

Uzaktan Y netim: Yeni Bir Y netim Yakla m (Remote Management: A New Management Approach)

Abstract: For some managers, managing virtual workforce requires a new management approach, while for other managers, it is a natural extension of their existing effective management techniques. But, remote management requires learning new skills and adjusting management style. So, many managers may need to modify the way they supervise remote workers. The successful management of virtual workforce is primarily dependent upon effective communications and trust, which requires managing by results, not by sight. Also, managers should use new ways for performance apprasing and compensating virtual workforce. In this study, remote management techniques are discussed and methods that are used for performance appraisal and compensation of virtual workforce are examined.
