Open Journal of Geology (OJG) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/ojg.2017.71007
Abstract: The alkali feldspar granite of Gabal El Atawi is post orogenic granite originated from subalkaline magma in extensional suite. It is developed within plate tectonic setting and has A2-type character which generated from apparent crustal source. The petrographic, geochemical and radioactive characteristics of El Atawi granite meet and fulfill the requirements of being fertile granite and it can be considered as promising uraniferous granite. Fluid inclusion studies of the altered granite elucidated two different solutions acting on the host granitic pluton. The first is NaCl-CaCl low temperature fluid with a wide range of salinity. The second is high temperature and salinity Fe-Mg-Na chloride solution. Different fractures in the granite acted as good channels for the hydrothermal fluids that leached uranium from its bearing minerals disseminated all over the host granite and redeposited it in the alteration zones.

Journal of Signal and Information Processing (JSIP) , 2017, DOI: 10.4236/jsip.2017.81002
Abstract: This paper mainly studies Weather Stations part of the wind power station. The use of wind energy in practice is carried out using the facilities of the wind in which the kinetic energy of the windscreen flow is converted into mechanical energy wind speed, then electrical energy alternator. The effective operation of the wind turbine is dependent on the direction of the wind. Speed air density, which in turn depends on the temperature and humidity. Thus, the speed of the wind worked effectively in its composition must include the weather. Meteorological station also performs the role of prevention. When the sharp wind speed or increase wind speed above the maximum value, it sends a signal to the lock assembly wind to prevent wind turbine technology from damage. The work of the meteorological stations design as part of the Wind Energy Station is considered. The complex technical devices are used for its implementation. A set of technical means used to its implementation and designed system consists of a temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction and rain gauge sensors that are connected to PIC16f876A microcontroller.

Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1051/0004-6361/201015250
Abstract: Context. Continued investigation of the linkage between magneto-acoustic energy generation in stellar convective zones and the energy dissipation and radiative emission in outer stellar atmospheres in stars of different activity levels. Aims. We compute the wave energy fluxes carried by longitudinal tube waves along vertically oriented thin magnetic fluxes tubes embedded in the atmospheres of theoretical main-sequence stars based on stellar parameters deduced by R. L. Kurucz and D. F. Gray. Additionally, we present a fitting formula for the wave energy flux based on the governing stellar and magnetic parameters. Methods. A modified theory of turbulence generation based on the mixing-length concept is combined with the magneto-hydrodynamic equations to numerically account for the wave energies generated at the base of magnetic flux tubes. Results. The results indicate a stiff dependence of the generated wave energy on the stellar and magnetic parameters in principal agreement with previous studies. The wave energy flux F_LTW decreases by about a factor of 1.7 between G0V and K0V stars, but drops by almost two orders of magnitude between K0V and M0V stars. In addition, the values for F_LTW are significantly higher for lower in-tube magnetic field strengths. Both results are consistent with the findings from previous studies. Conclusions. Our study will add to the description of magnetic energy generation in late-type main-sequence stars. Our results will be helpful for calculating theoretical atmospheric models for stars of different levels of magnetic activity.
Adaptive Control of a Production-Inventory Model with Uncertain Deterioration Rate  [PDF]
Fawzy Bukhari
Applied Mathematics (AM) , 2011, DOI: 10.4236/am.2011.29162
Abstract: This paper studied a continuous-time model of a production maintenance system in which a manufacturing firm produces a single product selling some and stocking the remaining. The problem of adaptive control of a production-maintenance system with unknown deterioration has been presented. Using Liapunov technique, the production rate and updating rule of deterioration rate are derived as non-linear functions of inventory level perturbation. Numerical analysis for the system has been presented for a set of parameter values and demand rate.

Abstract: Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is an option for oilseed production, particularly in dry land areas due to good root system development. In this study, two field experiments were performed in the El-Khattara region (Sharkia Governorate, Egypt) during the 2005 season. The objective of this research was to determine the effect of organicnitrogen (ON) sources and their combinations as well as to compare the effect of ON and ammonium sulfate (AS) as a conventional fertilizer added individually or in combination on growth, yield components, oil percentage and the uptake of some macronutrients by sunflowers grown on sandy soil. The treatments of chicken manure (CM) and a mixture of farmyard manure (FYM) with CM were superior to the other treatments and gave the highest yield, dry matter yield, NPK uptake by plants at all growth stages along with seed yield at the mature stage. The effect of the different ON on crop yield and its components may follow the order; CM> palma residues (PR)> FYM. This was more emphasized when the materials were mixed with AS at a ratio of 3:1 and 1:1. The uptake of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) by plants was affected by the addition of different N sources and treatments. The highest nutrient content and uptake by straw were obtained when treated with CM followed by PR at all growth stages, while it was PR followed by CM for seeds. Oil recovery was shown to respond to the N supply and the changes in individual fatty acids were not statistically different. However, it seems that the application of organic fertilizers resulted in an increase in total unsaturated fatty acids compared to the control.

Journal of Electromagnetic Analysis and Applications (JEMAA) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jemaa.2015.74015
Abstract: This paper presents the diffraction effects on the performance of a dual external cavity tunable laser source, whose external cavities are constructed by micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS). One of the main problems in these structures is the optical diffraction as the emitting surface of the laser diode is usually quite limited in the transverse directions. The emitted beam diffracts rapidly in the air and only a small amount of light is coupled back to the source that usually limits the tuning range of the source. Device characteristics such as tuning range, wavelength shift and sensitivity are evaluated. New expression is used and multiple reflections inside external cavities are considered. The simulation results have shown that single external cavity has limited tuning range. It is shown that multiple reflections have significant effect in our model. To get a better engineering for the dual ECTL dimensions, diffraction effects must be taken into account.

Journal of Cancer Therapy (JCT) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/jct.2018.96041
Abstract: Background and objectives: Surgery is the primary therapy for localized gastric cancer, but even with the best results only 40% 5-year survival can be achieved with the use of postoperative adjuvant chemoradiotherapy. Preoperative therapy might help increase the R0 resection rate, which is an independent predictor of 5-year OS. Our study hypothesized that the concurrent combination of carboplatin-paclitaxel with radiation therapy would result in a pathological CR rate, which will be in turn associated with OAS and DFS benefits. Patients and methods: prospective phase II study included 32 patients with locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma including gastroesophageal junction who received a combination of neoadjuvant conformal radiotherapy concurrently with carboplatin-paclitaxel followed by surgery. Results: Pathological CR and R0 resection rates were 18.8% and 75% respectively. With a median follow up of 24 months, 2 years disease-free survival was 28.1% and overall survival was 51.3%. The regimen was tolerated with neither grade 4 toxicities nor deaths. Conclusion: Neoadjuvant radiotherapy concomitant with carboplatin-paclitaxel chemotherapy is a well-tolerated approach for patients with locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma resulting in significant pathological CR and R0 resection margins as reflected by the good DFS and OS.
Method for Improving the Lateral Resolution of Near-Infrared (NIR) Single Optods: Application to Subcutaneous Vein Detection and Localization  [PDF]

Optics and Photonics Journal (OPJ) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/opj.2012.24044

NIR backscattering measurements using single source-detector optical probe (optods) can detect absorption areas within deep tissue layer. However, such optods, are characterized by large separation distance between the source and detectors (>2 cm) and poor lateral resolution (>1 cm), which limits its usage for the localization of small absorption volumes embedded deep within the tissue such as subcutaneous veins. In this work a method to improve the accuracy of locating such absorption volumes (areas) using backscattered NIR measurements is suggested and investigated with the aim of developing an optical sensor for detecting and localizing large subcutaneous veins. The method is based on measuring the differential signal from three overlapping source-detector pairs arranged within the probe such that the total photon sensitivity profile of the probe is maximized along a narrow width area (within the central of the probe) and minimized along its sides. The location of the absorption areas is then determined when a peak maximum of the measured signal is detected. Monte Carlo simulation and light transport modeling was used to determine the optimum arrangement of each source-detector pair within the probe to create the required spatial sensitivity profile and demonstrate the validity of the method. The results showed that the differential optode has more than two times improvement in the lateral resolution compared to the standard optode. The result also showed that the differential probe can locate subcutaneous veins with diameter ~5 mm and embedded at ~1.5 cm depth. The method could have a potential for designing and developing an optical backscattering sensors for detecting and localizing large subcutaneous veins embedded <2 cm depths

Abstract: Sprague-Dawley rats were fed for a total period of 8 weeks on six diets that were different in the source of their fat content. The fat content was provided either, palm oil or palm olein or corn oil or hydrogenated fat, or frying palm oil and mixture of corn oil + hydrogenated fat in the ratio (1:1). The latter was given to the control group. Animals fed these various experimental diets showed statistically significant differences in serum cholesterol and serum triglycerides content among all group. Increased HDL-cholesterol content was evident in animals fed on palm-olein and palm oil. The frying oil fed group showed lowest HDL-cholesterol content. In these experiments palm olein fed animals showed highest ratio of HDL-cholesterol to total cholesterol while the lowest ratio was shown in rats fed on frying oil. Prothrombin (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (PTT) showed higher values In palm oil, palm olein and corn oil diets as compared to all groups with each other.
