Abstract: In this article, the current remarkable trend of institutional amalgamation and the establishment of cross-institutional consortiums in China are examined. The principal purpose of this study is to explore policy options on issues connected with the trend and the significant implications of the trend for the future development of higher education in China. I discuss the outstanding issues raised in the restructuring, the main factors behind them and proposes policy options to redress the adversities of the trend at the end. The article draws on national data as well as a case study. The research reported here is constructive for comparative and empirical research of similar issues in international perspectives.
Relay Selection and Power Allocation in Amplify-and-Forward Cognitive Radio Systems Based on Spectrum Sharing  [PDF]

Abstract: In this paper, we consider a spectrum sharing scheme that is a joint optimization of relay selection and power allocation at the secondary transmitter, which aims to achieve the maximum possible throughput for the secondary user. This paper considers the scenario where the primary user is incapable of supporting its target signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). More especially, the secondary transmitter tries to assist the primary user with achieving its target SNR by cooperative amplify-and-forward (AF) relaying with two-phase. By exhaustive search for all candidate secondary transmitters, an optimal secondary transmitter can be selected, which not only can satisfy the primary user’s target SNR, but also maximize the secondary user’s throughput. The optimal secondary transmitter acts as a relay for the primary user by allocating a part of its power to amplify-and-forward the primary signal over the primary user’s licensed spectrum bands. At the same time, as a reward, the optimal secondary transmitter uses the remaining power to transmit its own signal over the remaining licensed spectrum bands. Thus, the secondary user obtains the spectrum access opportunities. Besides, there is no interference between the primary user and the secondary user. We study the joint optimization of relay selection and power allocation such that the secondary user’s throughput is maximized on the condition that it satisfies the primary user’s target SNR. From the simulation, it is shown that the joint optimization of relay selection and power allocation provides a significant throughput gain compared with random relay selection with optimal power allocation (OPA) and random relay selection with water-filling power allocation (WPA). Moreover, the simulation results also shown that our spectrum sharing scheme obtains the win-win solution for the primary system and the secondary system.

Abstract: China has been fast growing over past 30 years. Whether China could keep relatively high speed sustained growth is very important to the whole world. And it is worthwhile to analyze the reason to keep high speed sustained growth. The paper analyzes the total amount situation of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of China as the second world economy entity. As a developing fast growing country, China has its own characteristics and also has big gap to the first world economy entity, the USA. With the rapid development of internet, the paper compares the traditional business model to future business model development. As a part of national strategies of China, internet is becoming one of the most important tools for both business increasing and marketing developing with its users fast growing. The relativity between internet and China economy is analyzed through related model. With internet plus time coming, China economy development will be related to internet tightly in current time and future.
The protective effect of peroxiredoxin II on oxidative stress induced apoptosis in pancreatic β-cells

Abstract: Excessive loss of pancreatic β-cell mass, mainly due to apoptosis, is a major cause in the development of diabetic hyperglycemia in both type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus [1]. β-cell apoptosis is initiated by a variety of stimuli such as inflammatory cytokines, chronic hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia [2,3] and downstream effects such as endoplasmic reticulum stress [4] and mitochondrial dysfunction [5]. Oxidative stress plays a permissive role in the process of apoptosis leading to cell destruction in many types of cell lineages [6,7]. Particularly the β-cells are more susceptible to oxidative stress due to the fact that they express major antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase at low levels [1,8,9]. In the pancreatic islets, superoxide dismutase expression is 30-40% compared with that of the liver, glutathione peroxidase expression is 15%, and catalase expression cannot be detected [10].At the cellular level, oxidative stress-mediated β-cell apoptosis can result from an imbalance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) generation and its clearance by antioxidants [9]. It has been demonstrated that proinflammatory cytokines induced β-cell apoptosis is mediated through elevation of ROS in the mitochondria via altered electron transport chain action [11], and increased nitric oxide (NO) production via activation of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) [12]. The process is known to be involved with activation of the nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) and the c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK/SAPK) or the FAS-FAS ligand pathways [13]. Induction of ROS is found to be multilateral. Long chain saturated non-esterized fatty acids (NEFA) such as palmitic acid (PA) induces ROS production in the mitochondria through the electron transport chain [11,14]. Effects of Shendan Jianyi Capsule on aldose reductase activity of kidney in diabetic rats

Abstract: Objective: To evaluate the effects of Shendan Jianyi Capsule (SDJYC) on aldose reductase (AR) activity of the kidney in diabetic rats and the significance of prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy with Chinese natural herbs. Methods: Diabetic Wistar rats were treated with SDJYC and sorbinil respectively, and the AR activity in kidney, urine protein and the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase were tested. Results: The AR activity in diabetic rats was decreased obviously after being treated with sorbinil or SDJYC. The activity of Na+-K+-ATPase in diabetic rats decreased obviously at the end of the eighth week, and increased after being treated with sorbinil and SDJYC. There was no difference between two treated groups after the treatment. It demonstrated that the inhibition of AR activity could improve the activity of Na+-K+-ATPase and SDJYC had the same effect. Conclusions: SDJYC exerts effects by inhibiting the activity of AR

Abstract: Methodology of syndrome differentiation and syndrome-based treatment in rats and mice has professional characteristics and caters to the research and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). In this paper, the authors introduced their systematic research in five aspects. 1) Rats and mice can be used to simulate TCM clinical practice. Diagnosis and syndrome differentiation can be done to the rats and mice, and information collected by the four diagnostic methods from the experimental animals meets the requirements of treatment based on syndrome differentiation. 2) Standardized and quantified four diagnostic methods and syndrome differentiation for rats and mice can be established, and are operational and applicable for general use. 3) There exists constitution and syndrome diversity in normal rats and mice. A spontaneous syndrome can develop in diseased rats and mice, and it can be accompanied by or even change to another syndrome, similar to that in human beings. 4) There is a complicated material base for syndromes inferred from the different gene expressions and splices in neuroendocrine-immune network. 5) Individualized treatment based on syndrome differentiation, as well as quantified evaluation and comparison of the treatment efficacy can be done in the rat and mouse models of syndromes. The established methodology and criteria for syndrome differentiation and syndrome-based treatment in rats and mice can be used in the following four research fields: 1) syndrome identification on rat or mouse models; 2) research on the basic theories of TCM, such as the research on the viscera manifestation theory, the material base of syndromes, function mechanisms of the treatment based on syndrome differentiation, and the diagnostics of TCM; 3) study in clinical subject of TCM, such as evaluation and comparison of the efficacy of treatment based on syndrome differentiation, protocol optimization of syndrome differentiation and treatment, and preventive treatment of diseases; 4) study in traditional Chinese drugs, such as the research on properties of Chinese herbal drugs, and pharmacological research on Chinese herbal medicines and formulas
