A Role of Chaotic Phenomenon and the Central Place System in a Firm’s Location Selections  [PDF]
Toshiharu Ishikawa
Theoretical Economics Letters (TEL) , 2012, DOI: 10.4236/tel.2012.21019
Abstract: When a manufacturing firm has a plan to build a factory, the determination of the factory’s location site is one of the most important elements in the plan. Since the manufacturer does not have enough information of economic conditions of all potential location sites, the manufacturer cannot determine immediately its location site. A series of steps are taken to determine the location place. The firm makes range of searching area small step by step toward the site deter-mination; 1) Determination of a prospective region in a large space, 2) Selection of a potential area in that region, 3) Choice of an urban district in that area, 4) Decision of a site in the district. This paper proposes that chaotic phenome-non, which is appeared in the calculation processes to specify the optimal location site, may be used to identify a pro-spective region. And then, it is shown in the paper that the central place systems laid in the region play a role in the se-lection of a potential area for the factory location. This paper elucidates how a firm searches step by step an appropriate factory’s location within a large geographical area.
Kahler’s Disease with a Rare Clinical form and Review of Literature  [PDF]
R. D. Gogoua, D. G. Gogoua, M. Kaba
Open Journal of Orthopedics (OJO) , 2018, DOI: 10.4236/ojo.2018.82005
Abstract: Kahler’s disease or “multiple myeloma” is a cancerous disease of the bone marrow. It may appear straightaway in its multiple myeloma form or in the form of solitary bone plasmacytoma or extra bone plasmacytoma. In the extra bone form, its orbital location as the first symptom is exceptional. Our case concerned a 49-year-old female patient without significant medical history who was followed for 6 months for a voluminous left exophthalmos. This ocular symptomatology was accompanied six months after by acute bone pains in the spine and pelvis then by a pathological fracture of the left trochanter. Histological assessment during the treatment showed the diagnosis of Kahler’s disease. The serum calcium was 106 mmol/l, a blood level of chloride to 96 mmol/l, of potassium to 5.36 mmol/l, of sodium to 136 mmol/l. The 24-hour proteinuria was 0.30 g/l and indicated renal impairment. The patient had anemia with a hemoglobin level to 8.8 g/l. Tumor markers were normal; in particular the CA was 13.148, ACE-2 to 1.013 ng/ml and CA19-9 to 5.029 IU/ml. The patient was transferred to a specialized unit but died before the start of treatment. Thus any isolated exophthalmos or accompanied by bone signs must systematically suggest Kahler’s disease and make undertake investigations in this direction. It is on this condition that an early management of the disease can improve the prognosis of the disease and prolong the patient’s life.

Abstract: Concerning the construction of gunpowder factory and the improvement and restoration of the old one in Istanbul by Selim III who is one of the innovator sultans of Ottoman history, by his Nizam- Cedid (The New Order) reforms, famous poet Sheikh Galib rhymed three poems and one concerning a palace built in a gunpowder factory. They are a kind of poems which are called tarih and whose sum of numerical value of each letter of the last verse gives us the date in which they were built or restored. It can be concluded from these poetries that Sheikh Galib was following the operations of his time and interested in the different areas like gunpowder factories. It is aimed in this paper to determine which poem concerns which gunpowder factory and the palace in the garden of which factory is constructed, and also to understand better the poems.
Localización geohistórica de los feminismos latinoamericanos
Lamus Canavae,Doris;
Polis (Santiago) , 2009, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-65682009000300006
Abstract: the present article retakes some of the arguments and categories of the speech that criticizes the ?eurocentrism of the latin american .feminism? to draw attention on the circumventions or generalizations in which it incurs. without unknowning the undeniable origins of feminist thought, the article insists on the particularities of latin american feminisms, in its neohistorical location. with this intention it narrates the ups and downs of feminist mobilization of the years seventy-eighty in the region.
Location Optimization of a Coal Power Plant to Balance Costs against Plant’s Emission Exposure  [PDF]
Najam Khan, Ekaterina Koromyslova
American Journal of Operations Research (AJOR) , 2019, DOI: 10.4236/ajor.2019.91003
Abstract: The goal of the research is to develop a methodology to minimize the public’s exposure to harmful emissions from coal power plants while maintaining minimal operational costs related to electric distribution losses and coal logistics. The objective is achieved by combining EPA Screen3, ISC3 and Japanese METI-LIS model equations with minimum spanning tree (MST) algorithm. Prim’s MST algorithm is used to simulate an electric distribution system and coal transportation pathways. The model can detect emission interaction with another source and estimate the ground level concentrations of emissions up to distances of 25 kilometers. During a grid search, the algorithm helps determine a candidate location, for a new coal power plant, that would minimize the operational cost while ensuring emission exposure is below the EPA/NIOSH thresholds. The proposed methodology has been coded in form of a location analysis simulation. An exhaustive search strategy delivers a final candidate location for a new coal power plant to ensure minimum operational costs as compared to the random or greedy search strategy. The simulation provides a tool to industrial zone planners, environmental engineers, and stakeholders in coal-based power generation. Using operational and emissions perspectives, the tool helps ascertain a list of compromise locations for a new coal power plant facility.
Indústria e servi?os na Macrometrópole Paulista: para a caracteriza??o produtiva de um amplo espa?o econ?mico
Abdal, Alexandre;
Nova Economia , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512010000200002
Abstract: this article aims to investigate sao paulo's post 1985 locational patterns, with special attention to the development of a wider economic territory, named sao paulo's macrometropolis - constituted by sao paulo's metropolitan region (spmr) and its adjoining regions. its main characteristic is the existence of linkages amongst manufacture and productivity services, in such a pattern that the first tends to become intensive outside spmr and the second, inside it. a further issue must be noted, however. the manufacture remains highly concentrated in spmr. in other words, at least in the case of spmr, the development of productivity services should not be understood as a substitute for manufacture.

Journal of Environmental Protection (JEP) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/jep.2015.67061
Abstract: In order to assess the cement dust levels at the factory of the Beninese Cement Industry (BCI), at Xwlacodji, seven sampling stations (numbered 1 to 7) were set inside the industry and nine (numbered 8 to 16) were set around the factory in January, February, August and December. With the method of stainless steel plate according to NFX 43-007 AFNOR Standard, the different stations were monitored daily for dust collection all month long. The results revealed that the mean values of cement dusts inside BCI in g/m2/day ranged from 1.608 to 8.752 in January, from 1.13068 to 6.14924 in February, from 0.9654 to 5.2502 for August and from 1.7220 to 9.3620 for December. With regard to outside BCI, the mean values of dusts rose from 8.8760 to 18.9620 in December. The lowest mean values 3.2719 and 4.4124 were respectively recorded in February and August whereas the highest values 17.7309 and 18.9620 were respectively recorded in January and December. Our study revealed month variation in cement dust deposition with the highest values in December and January and the lowest values in February and August. It was observed that the content in cement dusts recorded outside the cement industry were extremely higher than those recorded inside the cement industry. The values in the present study have far exceeded all the international safety values (1 g/m2/day for AFNOR and 350 mg/m2/day TA-Luft) and could pose health hazards. Therefore protective measures are suggested to mitigate the risk of occupational hazards for the cement industrial workers.
Madres combatientes o la afirmación de la figura de la "buena madre"
Ramírez Parra,Patricia;
Polis (Santiago) , 2011, DOI: 10.4067/S0718-65682011000100013
Abstract: this article presents an analysis on women, who being mothers "opted" to enrol with the united self-defence forces of colombia, the majority of them turning into "labourers of war" in order to fulfil their maternal function of securing the survival of their offspring. they are combatant mothers, who went to war to fight for their children, sacrifying their own life for that other being that once was a part of her. i try to show that those combatant mothers do not transgress the norms of hegemonic maternity. nonetheless they transgress the gendered stereotypical vision considering women to be essentially "peaceful". but they are not really transgressors to the ideals associated with motherhood, seen fundamentally as essence, as a biological and individual fact. finally, i propose to revise motherhood in a (post)conflict society, such as colombia.

Palabras clave: contabilidad, calidad, fábrica, Foucault.ABSTRACTThe influence of quality assurance in management control systems is an aspect that has not been studied in detail from a historical perspective. The objective of this study is to analyze the management of quality using the case of the Royal Tobacco Factory of Seville, during the second half of the 18th century, drawing on information from National Historical Archive and the Archives of the Tobacco Factory of Seville. A notable feature is the importance of the disciplinary system as a mechanism to improve the quality of products and production processes. The aim of the work is to show that, at least partially it is possible to explain the accounting of the RFTS based on the foucaultian perspective.
