Abstract: the inclusion of children from birth to 18 months in day care centers, a phase that can be considered as the first one for inclusive education, may stimulate their motor development and perceptual-cognitive abilities. the goal of this study was to identify how people working in such centers conceive the inclusion of children with special needs in their routine activities. for such, seven women involved in a municipal day care center in the city of bauru (sp, brazil) were interviewed. the data - organized according to three analytical categories: believes related to the inclusion process; benefits that it can bring for the child; and differences between children in this age group - were subjected to a qualitative analysis. the results indicated that the inclusion of children with special needs in day-care centers is viewed with reservations. this negative bias toward disability can be explained by the lack of knowledge related to child development and its main issues as well as by establishing erroneous connections between professional activities and personal experiences.

Abstract: this work reports aspects of an ethnography carried out at a karate dojo. the aim of the investigation was to observe the production and the relationship between the pain and body suffering and the affirmation of masculinity. we do not discuss here the results of the research, but the issues involved in its construction, considering a specificity: the responsible for this field work is a fighter of that dojo, and her movement from a respected black belt karate fighter to a researcher produced new forms of challenges in that space. we problematize the question, trying to show the difficulties in the debate which combines a gender conflict with the probable conciliation between the condition of researcher and the field in which he/she is involved, and with which he/she will inevitably confront.

Health (Health) , 2016, DOI: 10.4236/health.2016.86059
Abstract: Meningomyelocele is a congenital defect involving the central nervous system which is one of the most common among those compatible with life. Children affected by this condition present neurological, orthopedic, renal and urogenital complications, needing lifelong healthcare provisions. The aim of this study was to analyze the reality experienced by children and adolescents with meningomyelocele and their families in the city of Belo Horizonte and its metropolitan area, Brazil. A descriptive and exploratory study was conducted via three home visits and a scripted interview with 16 children and adolescents with meningomyelocele and their families. It was observed that mean age of children and adolescents was 12 years old, most of them did not walk (n = 10), and depended on wheel chairs and parental care. Mothers represented the main caregivers and most (n = 12) had to leave their formal work outside of the home, compromising family income. It concluded that the families had socioeconomic levels aggravated by difficulties in purchasing materials needed for their children’s care. Some social challenges included barriers to education and the acquisition of medications and materials, demonstrating the need for planning public policies aimed at integrating different health services.
A Large Vaginal Bulge Might Not Be a Genital Prolapse  [PDF]

Abstract: Vaginal tumors, whether benign or malignant, are rare. They include fibroepithelial polyps (FEPs), which are benign lesions originating in mesenchymal cells, comprised of a core of connective tissue covered by squamous epithelium. They are usually small and asymptomatic. When symptomatic or very large, they may cause bleeding, genital discomfort or the presence of a bulge in the vagina. In the last case, they may be mistaken for a genital prolapse. Although their physiopathology is still not clearly understood, the presence of hormonal receptors and the occurrence of FEPs during the use of hormone therapy or pregnancy suggest that changes in the stroma of these lesions may be induced by hormones. We report on the case of a patient who presented with a vaginal bulge and was referred to the urogynecology outpatient ward with a diagnosis of genital prolapse, which had actually a large fibroepithelial polyp on the posterior vaginal wall.

Abstract:
The degradation of ethinylestradiol (EE, an orally bio-active estrogen) in an aqueous-methanolic solution using a Ti/TiO2 thin-film electrode and UV radiation (a photoelectrocatalytic system) was evaluated. Hence, HPLC/UV analysis shows that EE (at 0.34 mmol) is totally consumed after 30 minutes of exposure to the photoelectrocatalytic system in the presence of Na2SO4 (0.1 mol·L-1) and with an applied bias potential of +1.0 V versus the Ag/AgCl reference electrode. Moreover, monitoring by direct infusion electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and SPME-GC/ MS (solid phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry) reveals that apparently no degradation products are formed under these conditions. Hence, this study demonstrates that the photoelectrocatalytic system can be efficiently used to promote the complete degradation (and likely mineralization) of this hormone under these conditions.

Abstract: Front of the possibility of acting with the teachers who teach in schools of Early Childhood Education for children aged six years, about the re-siginification of the understanding of writing language and of the importance of the child in this age group establish a positive relationship with this mode of language, was developed in 2011, a project linked to the Teaching of UNESP titled “Depathologization learning of the writing and inclusive education: reflections and actions of the teacher of Early Childhood Education”. This project aims to identification of the actions, in the classroom, of the patologization and subsequent implementation of actions depathologization writing by teachers’ actions, considering the increasingly early systematization of formal education of this kind of language in kindergarten. To this end, procedures that characterize the collaborative methodology are adopted. Throughout the methodological course, the engagement of the teachers, of the coordination and of the direction was valued, which seemed to favor both the formation, as the maintenance of the group, were very important aspects to ensure the interaction between its members and the common interest in the reflection about the topic in question. This paper focuses attention on whether thematic axes highlight during the initial survey of the expectations of teachers subsequently addressed in theoretical and reflective meetings leading up to identification of actions the patologization and/or of the proposition of the actions despatologizadoras of the learning of the writing, and in what refers to the way they are addressed.

Abstract: The use of an internal control in a multiplex-PCR assay for sex determination of In Vitro-produced bovine embryos was evaluated in biopsies of groups of 54 fresh and 44 frozen embryos. The internal controls used were the primers BOV 1 and BOV 2, which amplify a product with 626 base pairs (bp) of bovine mitochondrial DNA ND5 gene. The primers BRY.4aF and BRY.4aR were used for bovine Y chromosome sequence amplification. The specificity of multiplex- PCR reactions realized in biopsies corresponding to about 20% of each fresh embryo (10 male and 10 female) by means of confirming the sexing in the remaining embryo content (~80%) presented 100% specificity. Amplicons of the internal control and Y chromosome were both amplified until dilution corresponding to 6.25% of total extracted DNA from a male embryo. Sex determination was possible in 53 (98.1%) fresh embryos and 40 (90.9%) frozen embryos. The products related to the Y chromosome and mitochondrial DNA were simultaneously amplified in 34 (63%) fresh embryos and 27 (61.4%) frozen embryos, showing a male embryo. The female sex, distinguished by internal control amplification only, was detected in 19 (35.2%) and 13 (29.5%) biopsies, respectively, of fresh and frozen embryos. In one (1.8%) and four (9.1%) biopsies of fresh and frozen embryos, respectively, neither product was amplified, most likely due to the absence of embryonic cells or the presence of embryonic cells going through apoptosis. The multiplex-PCR assay developed in this work showed avoided the limitation of a lack of an internal standard, and was also sensitive, specific, and efficient in reaction failure identification. This technique shows great potential for use on a commercial scale in routine sex determination of In Vitro-produced embryos.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to verify the availability of iron in the presence of vitamin a as components of foods and in combinations with medicines. the iron available was measured in the presence of vitamin a in foods - common bean (b), beef liver (li) and carrot (c) - and medicines - fer-in-sol? (fer) (mead johnson), arovit? (a) (roche) and neutrofer? (n) (sigma pharma) - as well as in combinations of both. β-carotene, vitamin a, total iron, heme and non heme iron, percentage of dialyzable iron and amount of dialyzable iron was determined. vitamin a and β-carotene had a positive effect on the percentage of iron dialysis. carrot and liver had a better percentage of dialyzable iron than their respective medicine at similar concentrations. therefore, we can conclude that there has been an influence of vitamin a over the dialysis of iron, being the mixtures containing liver the ones which achieved the highest concentrations of dialyzable iron, and also that, according to the amounts needed to obtain the daily recommended intake of iron, they are good for consumption.
