Paired states of interacting electrons in a two dimensional lattice
D. Souza,F. Claro
Physics , 2010, DOI: 10.1103/PhysRevB.82.205437
Abstract: We show that two tight binding electrons that repel may form a bounded pair in two dimensions. The paired states form a band with energies that scale like the strength of the interaction potential. By applying an electric field we show that the dynamics of such states is that of a composite particle of charge 2e. The system still sustains Bloch-like states, so that if the two bands overlap single and paired states might coexist allowing for a bosonic fluid component that, if condensed, would decrease the resistance at low temperatures. The presence of two bands allows for new oscillations whose experimental detection would permit a direct measurement of the interaction potential strength.
Tempos de infancia, tempos de escola: a ordena??o do tempo escolar no ensino público paulista (1892-1933)
Souza, Rosa Fátima de;
Educa??o e Pesquisa , 1999, DOI: 10.1590/S1517-97021999000200010
Abstract: this text analyzes the ordering of time in primary state schools of the state of s?o paulo at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century, a period in which the school time architecture is instated and consolidated. the paper thus starts with the first detailed instructions related to time at schools, which are part of the republican reform of public schooling of 1892. it continues with the regulations elaborated during the first republic, and progresses up to the creation of the s?o paulo state education code of 1933, when a new era of state public education begins. this work tries to show that time is an ordering that is experimented and learnt at school. the study is based on documentary sources, especially legislation and official texts from education authorities. the analyses focus on two aspects: the political formulation of school time, and the pedagogical and disciplinary organization of time at school. with regard to the first aspect, the work shows how the ordering of time was driven by an aspiration of standardization and control. in that sense, state school authorities attempted to regulate on mandatory schooling, attendance rules, duration of primary education, and daily attendance time. as to the pedagogical and disciplinary aspect, this study stresses the meticulous ordering of school time including the curriculum rationalization - the selection and distribution of knowledge along grades, classes, and lessons, and the definition of timetables.

Synthesis (La Plata) , 2008,
Abstract: in the commonsense among specialists there was a democratization in sports practice in the classical athens (centuries v and iv b.c.). that said, we suggest to study the relation between democracy and the dissemination of athletic practices in the athenian polis, using athletic figures from greek vases as a form to explain this fact, such as the discobulos, which is considered as a symbol of the athenian democracy.

Cruz, Fábio Souza da;
Lua Nova: Revista de Cultura e Política , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-64452010000200008
Abstract: the work presents a study involving a social movement, the mst (portuguese acronym for movement of the agricultural landless workers), and the slight knowledge of cultural identity. the inquiry develops a brief exercise combining the meaning of the movement through its history, its relationship with the power and its structure in the current days. in regard to theoretical-methodological landmarks, the research adopts pressupositions of kathryn woodward (2000), stuart hall (2002) e zygmunt bauman (2005) and speeches of people from the movement, taken from cruz' study of reception (2006). as central quarrel, it is intended to analyze the challenges of the mst in globalization times.

Souza, Rosa Fátima de;
Cadernos de Pesquisa , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-15742006000100009
Abstract: study on the curricular policy for the first grades of elementary school implemented in the state of s?o paulo in the eighties and nineties. it examines the prescribed curriculum by comparing it to the practical contexts of curricular development. the research reveals that the curricular policy of that period was very much connected with academic production on education. it further emphasizes continuity in the policy of producting curricular orientation materials in the last 20 years, in order to advertise and make hegemonic an innovative pedagogical thought. it was also verified that these materials circulated in many different ways within the education system and were selectively appropriated by the teachers who particularly adopted the practical indications.

The role of interest rates in the Brazilian business cycles
Souza-Sobrinho, Nelson F.;
Revista Brasileira de Economia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-71402011000300006
Abstract: this paper offers additional insights on the relationship between interest rates and business cycles in brazil. first, i document that brazilian interest rates are very volatile, counter-cyclical and positively correlated with net exports, as observed in other emerging market economies. next, i present a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model in which firms face working capital constraints and labor supply is independent of consumption. this parsimonious model, appropriately calibrated to the brazilian economy, predicts that interest rate shocks can explain about one third of output fluctuations and delivers business cycle regularities consistent with the brazilian data.
QFD - desdobramento da fun??o qualidade - estruturando a satisfa??o do cliente
Abreu, Fábio de Souza;
Revista de Administra??o de Empresas , 1997, DOI: 10.1590/S0034-75901997000200005
Abstract: business specialists have given full attention to the customers' needs and delighting them for the business success. on the other hand, vel}' few practical and tested methodologies have been presented to the brazilian managers. world-class companies have been applying regularly the quality function deployment - qfd to satisfy successful/y the customers' needs and improving sales and market share at same time. besides, other benefits come up applying qfd method iike reducing costs and the lead time spent on product development, more effective benchmarking processes, efficient team work, real concurrent development and better interfunctional communication. this paper ends up giving a conceptual explanation how qfd works and comments about its implementation.
