Abstract: for a long time the sedative properties of passion tree have already been known, particularly when using the infusion or tincture of the leaves. recently, however, a property related to a new product was described: a hypoglycaemic activity of the flour produced from its bark, which is rich in pectin, a fraction of soluble fiber that lowers the absorption of carbohydrates in our body, which explains its hypoglycaemic mechanism of action. the objective of this study was to evaluate the clinical toxicology of the use of the meal in healthy volunteers. for this purpose a phase 1 clinical toxicological test was performed in 36 volunteers of both sexes, which used 10g of the product three times a day for eight weeks. individuals were included in the study after a clinical evaluation, with the completion of physical examinations and laboratory. the use of the product was well tolerated by volunteers and adverse reactions that could jeopardize their use as food with ownership of health were not reported. the examinations performed revealed no signs of toxicity in various organs and systems evaluated, indicating that the product may be used in future clinical pharmacological studies.

Revista Emancipa??o , 2008,
Abstract: This work search to analyze the process of constitutionally of the Only System of Health in the City of Thick-Paraná Tip, in the understood period enters 1985 the 2005. One is about refl ection on the organization/attended process of the sector of health in the City of Thick Tip, the immediately previous moment to the constitutionally of the SUS (moment where the Sanitary Movement took visibility national, or either, middle of the decade of 1980) and in the administrations that if had followed, up to 2005, searching not only to get the history of the ultra ticket or not of the hegemonic model of attention to the illness, but, before everything, to understand the forces that had traced strategies for the actions in the health sector, i

This study aims to reflect on the importance of phenomenology in the nursing area, as a possibility of opening up spaces to think about care based on the existential understanding of man, contemplating the human dimension beyond the technical-scientific perspective. Thus, the authors discuss nursing’s tendency, focusing on care from a phenomenological approach.

Abstract: At most time, gifted student remains hidden in the classroom, without voice and no right to a quality education. The current educational reality can be considered a barrier to the development of creativity at school and the worst thing is that this student often does not have access to specialized service because he/she is not identified. In this sense, this research aims to highlight opportunities of identification and inclusion for gifted children. The conclusion is that the elucidation of the gifted child's needs can help many teachers to improve teaching strategies that foster creativity of this child and incite their curiosity and their desire to learn. From the moment that this child is identified, there will be the possibility of having access to specialized service so that their special needs can be attended. It is essential that teachers are prepared to promote a quality education that attends each dimension of development of gifted student. This way is possible to identify and include this child at school.
Low bone mineral density in noncholestatic liver cirrhosis: prevalence, severity and prediction

Arquivos de Gastroenterologia , 2003,
Abstract: BACKGROUND: Metabolic bone disease has long been associated with cholestatic disorders. However, data in noncholestatic cirrhosis are relatively scant. AIMS: To determine prevalence and severity of low bone mineral density in noncholestatic cirrhosis and to investigate whether age, gender, etiology, severity of underlying liver disease, and/or laboratory tests are predictive of the diagnosis. PATIENTS/METHODS: Between March and September/1998, 89 patients with noncholestatic cirrhosis and 20 healthy controls were enrolled in a cross-sectional study. All subjects underwent standard laboratory tests and bone densitometry at lumbar spine and femoral neck by dual X-ray absorptiometry. RESULTS: Bone mass was significantly reduced at both sites in patients compared to controls. The prevalence of low bone mineral density in noncholestatic cirrhosis, defined by the World Health Organization criteria, was 78% at lumbar spine and 71% at femoral neck. Bone density significantly decreased with age at both sites, especially in patients older than 50 years. Bone density was significantly lower in post-menopausal women patients compared to pre-menopausal and men at both sites. There was no significant difference in bone mineral density among noncholestatic etiologies. Lumbar spine bone density significantly decreased with the progression of liver dysfunction. No biochemical variable was significantly associated with low bone mineral density. CONCLUSIONS: Low bone mineral density is highly prevalent in patients with noncholestatic cirrhosis. Older patients, post-menopausal women and patients with severe hepatic dysfunction experienced more advanced bone disease. The laboratory tests routinely determined in patients with liver disease did not reliably predict low bone mineral density.
Controle genético da incompatibilidade do cruzamento entre cultivares andinas e mesoamericanas de feijoeiro comum
Arantes, Lúcio de Oliveira;Ramalho, Magno Antonio Patto;Abreu, ?ngela de Fátima Barbosa;
Ciência e Agrotecnologia , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-70542008000300041
Abstract: crosses between andean and mesoamerican common beans are usually incompatible. there are doubts about the genetic control of the trait. singh & gutiérrez (1984) reported that two genes are involved in the trait control and that double recessive epistasis occurs. on the other hand, vilarinho (2004) presented results indicating that more than two genes are involved. the present study was carried out to clarify the genetic control of this trait. for this purpose, the andean cultivar 'jalo eep 558' was crossed with 'small white', which is mesoamerican, but compatible with the former one. the mesoamerican cultivar 'mulatinho da vagem roxa' was also crossed with 'small white'. the f1 generation of these two hybrids was crossed with each other. the resulting seeds were sown on the field and the occurrence of incompatibility was evaluated. segregation of 3 (normal) to 1 (incompatible) plants was observed, indicating that there are two genes, dl1 and dl2, as reported by singh & gutiérrez (1984), and that the genotype of the cultivars involved are: 'jalo eep 558' dl1dl1dl2dl2 ; 'mulatinho da vagem roxa' dl1dl1dl2dl2 ; 'small white' dl1dl1dl2dl2 .
Eight cycles of recurrent selection for resistance to angular leaf spot in common bean
Arantes, Lúcio de Oliveira;Abreu, ?ngela de Fátima Barbosa;Ramalho, Magno Antonio Patto;
Crop Breeding and Applied Biotechnology , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S1984-70332010000300008
Abstract: the genetic progress (gp) was evaluated after eight cycles of recurrent selection for resistance to angular leaf spot in common bean and indirect gain for yield and grain type. the base population (cycle-0) was obtained from the diallel cross of seven lines with carioca grain and ten resistance sources. to obtain cycle i, the most resistant s0 plants of cycle 0 were intercrossed. the same procedure was adopted in the subsequent cycles. gp for resistance to the pathogen was estimated by the overall average of the progenies of each cycle in comparison with control carioca mg and for productivity in comparison to the controls carioca mg and pérola. lines of the first six cycles were used for grain type. no gp was detected for resistance to angular leaf spot. however, the indirect yield gain was 2.3% and 2.5% in the selection for grain type, with values similar to those obtained by direct selection for these traits.
