Estrutura das exporta??es e crescimento econ?mico: uma análise empírica, 1985-2003
Catela, Eva Yamila da Silva;Porcile, Gabriel;
Economia e Sociedade , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0104-06182010000200004
Abstract: the paper discusses the idea that the quality of exports matters for economic growth. the influence of the structure of exports on the rates of economic growth is discussed within the context of a growth model with external constraints. to test the relationship between exports and growth, exports are divided in two groups: a) dynamic from a schumpeterian perspective (high-tech sectors) and b) dynamic from a keynesian perspective (international demand grows at higher rates than the average). the key hypothesis is that countries whose total exports have higher shares of sectors with keynesian and schumpeterian efficiency will grow faster. the empirical results are consistent with this hypothesis. in addition, the results suggest that schumpeterian efficiency tends to have a stronger impact on growth than keynesian efficiency.
Convergência, para onde? Uma análise da dinamica de distribui??o de renda per capita a partir do modelo de misturas finitas
Catela, Eva Yamila da Silva;Gon?alves, Flávio de Oliveira;
Economia Aplicada , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-80502009000300005
Abstract: different growth theories implies in different patterns of per capita income distribution between countries. the empirical validation to these theories assumes some non-commonly verified stochastic processes properties. this paper seeks for theseis properties and discusses the existence of per capita income clubs in the world economy by analyzing the distribution of per capita income in 134 countries during the period 1970-2003. the conclusions show stratification in three groups, with path dependence and no lock in, that is, there is a high probability of maintenance of the status quo, while there exists a small probability of migration between groups.
Intensidade tecnológica das exporta??es mundiais: uma análise de misturas finitas e do "learning-by-exporting"como determinante
Catela, Eva Yamila da Silva;Gon?alves, Flávio de Oliveira;
Nova Economia , 2011, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512011000300003
Abstract: this text studies the characteristics and determinants of exports of high tech goods to 123 countries worldwide over the 1986-2004 period. firstly, from the finite mixtures method, the existence of clubs in exporting high tech in the world is discussed. three groups are identified, showing low transition of components over time, demonstrating the cumulativeness and irreversibility of high tech trade. secondly, from the panel model the determinants of such exports are analyzed, considering among other things, the importance of learning by exporting and of human capital.

Investigación económica , 2009,
Abstract: this paper discusses the existence of high tech export clubs in the world economy by analyzing the distribution of technology-intensive exports in 123 countries during the period 1985-2004. the findings are compatible with the conclusions of the seminal work of quah (1996), showing that in spite of the high probability of maintenance of the status quo, there exists a small probability of migration between groups. the irreversibility of the technological trajectories is discussed. the paper contributes to the convergence literature in two ways. first it provides estimations of the parameter values leading to club convergence in the world economy. secondly, it describes how club members interact, within and between groups, in terms of trade and technology flows.

Silva, Eva Aparecida da;
Revista mexicana de investigación educativa , 2009,
Abstract: this article seeks to portray the established racial and ethnic relations between black and non-black students, and primarily between non-black students and their black female teachers. these relations are revealed in former students' views of their experience of contact and their awe in the presence of a black female teacher in the classroom.
Identification of Sugar, Amino Acids and Minerals from the Pollen of Jandaíra Stingless Bees (Melipona subnitida)  [PDF]
Girliane Regina da Silva, Tamires Botelho da Natividade, Celso Amorim Camara, Eva Monica Sarmento da Silva, Francisco de Assis Ribeiro dos Santos, Tania Maria Sarmento Silva
Food and Nutrition Sciences (FNS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/fns.2014.511112
Abstract:

The aim of this investigation was to analyze two samples of pollen from jandaíra stingless bees (Melipona subnitida) in view of their mineral composition, free amino acids and sugars. Palynological analysis showed that the predominant pollen was monofloral from Senna sp. species (94.5%, pollen 2011) and the second pollen sample showed the presence of two primary species, Chamaecrista sp. (39.2% pollen 2009) and Mimosa tenuiflora (43.5%) (pollen 2009). The highest mineral content was potassium. The bee pollen contained 20.8% and 31.0% of mannitol in samples from 2011 and 2009, respectively. Proline and serine are the predominant amino acids. High content of essential amino acids, minerals and the sugar mannitol confirmed high nutritional value of pollen samples from jandaíra bees.

Characterization of potato genotypes using molecular markers
Collares, Eliana Antonia Silveira;Choer, Eva;Pereira, Arione da Silva;
Pesquisa Agropecuária Brasileira , 2004, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-204X2004000900006
Abstract: the objective of this work was to characterize 27 potato genotypes, using molecular markers. polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, rapd techniques and isozymes of esterase, phosphoglucomutase and soluble proteins were analyzed in tubers, and isocitrate dehydrogenase, aspartate transaminase, phosphoglucomutase and peroxidase, in leaves. eighteen primers were tested and four were chosen, kits opx (01, 04 and 09) and opy (07), to analyze rapd markers in leaf extracts. similarity and cluster analysis were conducted using jaccard coefficient and the unweighted pair-group method using arithmetic average. despite the differences detected in the analysis of proteins and isozymes in the tubers, as well as of isozymes in the leaves, the characterization of all genotypes through gel electrophoresis was not possible, while rapd markers were efficient to characterize all the 27 genotypes.
Empreendedorismo feminino: tecendo a trama de demandas conflitantes
Jonathan, Eva G.;Silva, Taissa M. R. da;
Psicologia & Sociedade , 2007, DOI: 10.1590/S0102-71822007000100011
Abstract: in the face of multiple gender roles, this article aims to discuss the conflicting demands experienced by women entrepreneurs and the strategies they use to cope with them. content analysis of interviews carried out with women business owners reveals three categories of conflicting situations: conflicts at work; family-work conflicts; conflicts between work and personal demands. the main strategies these women use in order to oppose the conflicting situations are: self-organization of time; establishment of partnerships and complicity; and stress alleviation mechanisms. in the light of gender entrepreneurship literature, data indicates that women entrepreneurs innovate when confronting with dilemmas, introducing changes in the professional, family and personal context.
INTERNATIONALIZATION STRATEGIES OF THE BRAZILIAN MEAT AGRIBUSINESS SECTOR: EXPORTS OR DIRECT INVESTMENT ABROAD? ESTRATéGIAS DE INTERNACIONALIZA O DO SETOR AGROINDUSTRIAL BRASILEIRO DE CARNES: EXPORTA O OU INVESTIMENTO DIRETO NO EXTERIOR?

Future Studies Research Journal : Trends and Strategies , 2011, DOI: 10.7444/future.v2i2.59
Abstract: The article analyzes the internationalization strategies of the four largest Brazilian companies in the meat (beef, pork and poultry) agribusiness sector, by considering the comparative and competitive advantages of the country and the companies. JBS, Marfrig, Sadia and Perdig o were studied, of which the last two merged in May 2009, forming Brasil Foods. The authors looked into what led these companies to start investing abroad directly, as from 2005, as a complement to their exports, the preferred strategy for placing products in foreign markets. The research method used was the multiple case study, drawing on primary data (interviews, corporate annual reports, financial statements, press releases and shareholder information) and secondary data (theses, dissertations, academic articles, reports in newspapers and business journals), using bibliographic and documentary research. Everything was analyzed in the light of international business and strategy theories. The results show that exports still predominate and that investing directly abroad was, in principle, a reactive strategy to sanitary barriers against Brazilian products. However, the acquisition of companies in restriction-free countries has increased as part of a forward-looking strategy for gaining access to new markets and strengthening brands. Key-words: Agribusiness. Internationalization. Strategy.
