Valadares, Ana Lúcia Ribeiro;Pinto-Neto, Aar?o Mendes;Sousa, Maria Helena de;Osis, Maria José Duarte;
Revista Brasileira de Ginecologia e Obstetrícia , 2010, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-72032010000200004
Abstract: purpose: to translate into brazilian portuguese and culturally adapt the short personal experiences questionnaire (speq) to climacteric women. methods: the original english version from the university of melbourne, australia, was initially translated into portuguese and back-translated into english. a sociocultural adaptation of vocabulary and linguistic constructions was performed to facilitate comprehension. the questionnaire was then pretested in successive stages in 50 women, until no doubts remained. the final version of the adapted instrument was self-responded by 378 brazilian-born women, between 40 to 65 years old, with 11 years or more of schooling in a population-based study. the reliability (internal consistency as measured by cronbach's alpha), the construct validity (correlation coefficients between the items comprising the speq and selected variables) and the criterion validity (correlation coefficient between sexual dysfunction score and overall score of sexual life classification) were analyzed. results: one hundred and eight women answered all the questions of the speq and were included in the study. internal consistency (cronbach's alpha) for all the nine speq items ranged from 0.55 to 0.77 and the general alpha was 0.68. in the construct validity analysis, most of the correlation coefficients were significant (p<0.005). the criterion validity analysis showed significant correlation coefficients in most cases. conclusions: following the adaptation process, the portuguese version of the speq was deemed useful and appropriate for collecting data on sexual function and dyspareunia in brazilian women, aged 45 to 65 years, with at least 11 years of schooling.

Abstract: sixty 18-month-old steers (20 nellore, 20 f1 simmental × nellore and 20 f1 angus × nellore with average body weight of 265.6±6.4 kg; 325.3±4.7 kg and 324.6±6.0 kg, respectively) were used. the effects of feeding regime and genetic group on physical carcass composition, empty body composition, composition of the gain, as well as the pattern of tissue deposition were evaluated in this trial. the interaction between genetic group and feeding regime was not significant for any variable evaluated. animals fed at the maintenance level produced carcass with larger proportions of bones and muscle than the animals fed ad libitum and nellore animals had larger muscle portion and smaller adipose tissue portion on the carcass than the crossbred animals. nellore animals and those fed at maintenance had smaller amount of total fat in the carcass than the crossbred animals and those fed ad libitum, respectively. fat was deposited more pronouncedly in the intermuscular depot, followed by the visceral depot. the rate of deposition of the carcass tissues was smaller in the nellore animals and in the animals fed the diet with concentrate allowance equivalent to 1% body weight (except for subcutaneous fat tissue), when compared with the crossbred animals and those fed the diet with 2% bw on concentrate, respectively. the rate of fat deposition on the visceral depot was larger in the f1 angus × nellore animals and on those fed the 2% of bw of concentrate diet when compared with f1 simmental × nellore animals and those fed the diet with the lowest concentrate allowance (1% bw).

Abstract: this trial was conducted to evaluate some beef quality attributes of nellore, f1 simmental × nellore and f1 angus × nellore steers finished on feedlot. the effects of feeding regime and genetic group on shear force, thawing losses, cooking (leak + evaporation) losses, total losses and muscle fiber type, as well as carcass ph and temperature during 24 h of chilling were evaluated. there was a genetic group effect on shear force, where the beef from f1 simmental × nellore and f1 angus × nellore animals had lower values than nellore animals. beef of the animals fed the diets with 1% and 2% of body weight on concentrated lost more liquid than the meat of the animals fed at maintenance during thawing and when considering total losses. during cooking there was a difference among the feeding regimes for drip losses which were greater on the animals fed the diet of 1% of body weight on concentrate, followed by the 2% diet and, finally, by the animals fed at maintenance. the muscle of the nellore steers had larger proportion of intermediate fibers and lower proportion of oxidative fibers than the crossbred animals. the proportion of glycolytic fibers was not influenced by genetic group. the nellore animals had larger proportion of fibers of fast contraction and smaller proportion of fibers of slow contraction when compared with the crossbred animals. feeding regime did not influence the proportion of muscular fibers or shear force. nellore cattle produce tougher beef than crossbred simmental × nellore or angus × nellore, although all of them have the potential to produce an acceptable beef when slaughtered at young age. feed restriction up to 90 days is not enough to cause modification on muscle fiber frequencies, then not affecting beef quality.

Abstract: milk fat from 12 7/8 crossbred holstein-zebu lactating dairy cows was used to evaluate the effect of different diets on milk fatty acid (fa) profile and milk cla content. cows were fed concentrate containing corn (cr), wheat bran (wb), or dried citrus pulp (cp) supplemented or not with soybean oil. chromatographic analysis showed a fa recovery greater than 95%. with the exception of milk content of trans-10 c18:1 and proportions of trans-10 c18:1 and trans-11 c18:1 on total milk trans- c18:1, the interaction soybean oil x carbohydrate source was not significant for the remaining measured variables. overall, carbohydrate source did not affect the milk fa profile or cla content in this trial. supplementation with soybean oil increased unsaturated fa by 35% and decreased saturated fa by 14%, mainly short chain fa (9.66 vs. 7.59 g/100 g) and medium chain fa (51.80 vs. 40.86 g/100 g). soybean oil increased long chain fa (32.17 vs. 46.47 g/100 g), mainly c18:0 (9.44 vs. 13.63 g/100 g), c18:1 (20.28 vs. 29.74 g/100 g) and c18:2 (2.16 vs. 2.92 g/100 g). feeding soybean oil increased the concentration of cis-9 trans-11 c18:2 cla by 230% (0.46 vs. 1.06 g/100 g). in addition, the content of cis and trans-c18:1isomers was also increased. although the trans-11 c18:1 isomer was the most important, concentration of trans-10 c18:1 increased from 0.28 to 1.11 g/100g in oil supplemented-diets being affected by the carbohydrate source. milk from cows fed cr, wb, and cp showed similar content of trans-10 c18:1. however, in diets with oil supplementation both cr and wb resulted in greater content of trans-10 c18:1 than cp diet suggesting different biohydrogenation pathways.
A propriedade, o espa?o e o lugar do sujeito

Abstract: this article deals with the "scenery", "horizons", and perspectives constituting the subject's place and situation from the psychoanalyst's limited perspective. moving away from the body and its "em-bodiments" and places, many of which are institutionalized, including language itself, we look into such matters as velocity and other "con-jectures" associated with technique. in addition, we also consider the body and nature as a whole as sites of action and presentations, which in several scenes lead to representations of the world in view of the peculiarities in the subject's experiences. all virtualities, together with the "disembodiment of physical presence", add one more variable to our thoughts. recent endeavors like the feminist and homeless movements have shed new light on our understanding of the desire to possess and govern a territory. art (and here drama plays an essential role) seems to be the perfect system towards which perceptions and syntheses are directed in search of new concepts and directions for understanding (which, in turn, has recently undergone an unprecedented crisis). still, we should point out that the latter issue, not dealt with in this article, will be discussed at a suitable opportunity.
Qualidade do espa?o e habita??o humana
Valadares,Jorge de Campos;
Ciência & Saúde Coletiva , 2000, DOI: 10.1590/S1413-81232000000100008
Abstract: this study focuses on human housing, as a task involving constructing, inhabiting and understanding the world. this task starts with inventing one's own body, the first instrument for living and one's first dwelling place. since humans are made up of memory and conviviality, daily space and time are essential to this task, to the reconstruction of nature. man's house is first and foremost the place of presence and construction of histories. alarm, which is essential to examine the situation of the subject, finds empty spaces, "nowhere lands", now infinitely multiplied, where subjects emerge, but where they can also get lost forever. we confirm, through the analysis of human housing, that there is no public health, but a collective health, to be continuously invented from new versions presented by subjects in the cultural scene.
