Abstract: in order to generate information to help scientists technicians and producers in the determination of cultivars to be grown in summer in lavras region, the present work was carried out at the experimental area of federal university of lavras, lavras, mg, brazil on a red latosol (lvdf), in 2002/2003 crop season. the experimental design was composed in randomized blocks with three replications. the 45 cultivars (treatments) used in the experiment were: doko, pioneira, virtuosa, conquista, ft-104, monarca, monsoy 108, monsoy 109, ft-abyara, performa, lideran?a, monsoy 8400, confian?a, splendor, ufv-16, garantia, renascen?a, iac-19, ft-2000, iac-21, cac-1, monsoy 8411, suprema, seguran?a, aventis 7002, paiaguás, carrera, santa rosa, brs-celeste, dm 339, brs carla, brs milena, brs mg 68 (vencedora), br-9 savana, aventis 2056-7, stte 02, aventis 1043, monsoy 8866, monsoy 8329, monsoy 9010, embrapa 48, emgopa 313, emgopa 314, tucano, brs 136. all cultivars showed good grain yields, specially brs mg 68 (4395 kg.ha-1), paiaguás (3897 kg.ha-1), aventis 2056-7 (3780 kg.ha-1), monarca (3646 kg.ha-1) and ft 2000 (3498 kg.ha-1). soybean plant and first pod height, taken by harvest time, was in the range of 0,68m to 1,53 m and of 0,08 m to 0,29m, respectively. lodging indexes were also satisfactory for all cultivars tested. seed quality of the cultivars were evaluated and ranged from 1,0 to 2,3 in a 1-5 scale.
Efeito de fungicidas sistêmico e protetores aplicados em diferentes estádios fenológicos no controle da ferrugem asiática da soja

Abstract: the aim of this work was to verify the effect of the fungicides dicopper chloride trihydroxide, thiophanate methyl, chlorothalonil+thiophanate methyl, chlorothalonil, and pyraclostrobin+epoxiconazole applied at the stages v6, r1, r5, v6+r1, v6+r5, r1+r5 on the control of the asian rust and on the agronomic characteristics of the soybean. the experiment was carried out at the experimental area of the agriculture department, federal university of lavras, lavras mg, brazil. significant effects were observed for all fungicides on asian rust control, in comparison with the control. the treatments with fungicide sprays pyraclostrobin + epoxiconazole at the growth stage r1 provided the effective control of the disease, no significant differences were observed between v6 + r1 and r1 + r5. the sprays at r5 and v6 + r5 showed high disease severity however, with grain yield similar to the applications of the same fungicide at the stages r1, v6 + r1 and r1 + r5.

Abstract: the aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of kinetin and of potassium nitrate, applied on leaves in the phenological phase r3, on some agronomic characteristics of soybean plants and their yield in field. five concentrations of kinetin combined with four concentrations of potassium nitrate were used in an outline bi-factorial, in a randomized block experimental design, with three replications. the potassium nitrate application did not influence the studied agronomic characteristics. kinetin increased the pod set number up to 27.4%, in contrast to the control. kinetin increased the weight of 1,000 seeds and the yield up to 2.7 and 32.3%, respectively.

Abstract: the purpose of this study was to evaluate soybean materials [glycine max (l.) merrill] for grain yield and other agronomic traits in two agricultural years during the summer in the years of (2003/04 and 2004/05) trying to provide subsidies for the right choice of the cultivars for lavras-mg region. the experiment was evaluated in a complet block design with three replications in a factorial structure 2 x 40; 2 agricultural years (2003/04 and 2004/05) and 40 soybeans cultivars. lavras-mg region is good for soybean culture development, because the cultivars showed desirable agronomical characteristics during the two year-experiment, the average yield was 2870 kg.ha-1. the best cultivars for general standard during the two years were vencedora (4515 kg.ha-1), conquista (4209 kg.ha-1) and monarca (4121 kg.ha-1) that also showed good conditions for the mechanical harvest.

Abstract: the aim of the present investigation was to verify the influence of cutting periods on mineral composition of soybean hay. the experiment was conducted in lavras, mg, brazil, in the agricultural year 2001/02, on a typical dystrophic latosol. an experimental design in casualized blocks in factorial scheme 2 x 5 with three repetitions was employed, with two soybean cultivars mg/br 46 (conquista) and m-soy 8400, and five cutting periods (stages r2, r3, r4, r5 and r6). cutting periods have strongly influenced all the evaluated minerals, and significant interaction between cutting times and cultivars have been detected in p and k accumulation. on the whole, as cutting period was delayed, all minerals showed higher accumulation. cultivar m-soy 8400 showed higher k and zn accumulation than mg/br 46 (conquista), standing out as the best option for hay production. according to the experimental results, development stage r4 presented the best cutting period for hay production, providing higher mineral accumulation and earlier clearance of harvest area.

Abstract: the aim of this work was to evaluate the different cutting systems, spacing, and sowing densities on the intercropping of sorghum (sorghum bicolor l. moench) with soybean (glycine max (l.) merrill) in the inter-row, in order to maximize the forage production of the sorghum culture. two trials were carried out on the agricultural years of 2002/03 and 2003/04 at the experimental area of ufla (federal university of lavras) campus, in lavras, mg, on soil classified as dystroferric red latosol (oxisol), cerrado phase. three cutting systems were used, three spacings, two sowing densities of the sorghum crop and one additional treatment (monoculture of sorghum). the experiment was arranged in randomized blocks of 3x3x2+1 factorial scheme with three replications. the different cutting systems and spacings significantly modified the yields of green mass, dry matter, and crude protein, with emphasis on the second cutting system and the 80 cm inter-row sowing spacing, which reached better performances. the tested densities did not significantly modify the forage yield. the intercropping sorghum-soybean system did not provide a decrease in the graminae forage yield when compared to the monoculture.

Abstract: the objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of organic nutrional sources on the progress of brown eye spot and coffee rust in coffee plants, between november 2003 and november 2005. the experimental design adopted was the randomized blocks, with four replications and six treatment plots: coffee fruit peel + swine waste (cp+sw); castor bean presscake + crotalaria (cbp+cr); coffee fruit peel (cp); bovine manure + crotalaria (bm+cr); coffee fruit peel + castor bean presscake (cp+cbp); and standard fertilization used in the farm, which combines compost, castor bean presscake, swine waste and crotalaria (control). the higher area under the incidence progress curves of brown eye spot and coffee rust was obtained by cp treatment (respectively 62 and 38% higher to control). the larger progress coincided with the increase in leaf potassium and decrease of calcium content in cp, compared to other nutrient sources, and it resulted in higher leaf drop and lower yield. cp+cbp and cp+sw reduced in 38% the brown eye spot incidence, and in 31 and 21%, respectively, the coffee rust incidence, and increased leaf calcium content during fruit filling, compared to cp. the better nutritional status of plants increased resistance to diseases and reduced the variation between 2004 and 2005 harvests.

Abstract: this paper examines rural tourism as a product of relations between city and countryside aiming to make a theoretical contribution based on bibliographical researches and analysis of a specific case study - and to propose methodological procedures. the limited literature on methodological schemes of rural tourism justifies this work, because it is in this field that relevant difficulties appear. in order to make this possible a brief changing and dynamic methodological scheme of rural tourism analysis embodied by the city-to-countrysude relation, geographical space and urbanization is proposed.

Abstract: Este estudio analiza al turismo rural como producto de la relación ciudad-campo, con la intención de hacer una contribución teórica en base a las investigaciones bibliográficas y al análisis de un estudio de caso específico, y de proponer procedimientos metodológicos. La escasa bibliografía sobre esquemas metodológicos del turismo rural justifica este trabajo pues en ese ámbito existen grandes dificultades para la investigación. Con la intención de diligenciar la investigación del turismo rural se propone un peque o esquema metodológico dinámico y mutable de análisis del turismo rural consubstanciado por la relación ciudad-campo, espacio geográfico y urbanización. Polypeptide A9K at Nanoscale Carbon: Simulation Study

Abstract: An amphiphilic nature of the surfactant-like peptides is responsible for their propensity to aggregate at the nanoscale. These peptides can be readily used for a non-covalent functionalization of nanoparticles and macromolecules. This work reports an observation of supramolecular ensembles consisting of ultrashort carbon nanotubes (USCNTs), graphene (GR) and A9K polypeptide formed by lysine and arginine. Potential of mean force (PMF) is used as a major descriptor of the CNT-A9K and GR-A9K binding process, supplementing structural data. The phase space sampling is performed by multiple equilibrium molecular dynamics simulations with position restraints, where applicable. Binding in all cases was found to be thermodynamically favorable. Encapsulation in the (10,10) USCNT is particularly favorable. Curvature of external surface does not favor binding. Thus, binding of A9K at GR is stronger than its binding at the outer sidewall of USCNTs. Overall, the presented results favor non-covalent functionalization of nanoscale carbons that are considered interesting in the fields of biomaterials, biosensors, biomedical devices, and drug delivery.
