Inteligência competitiva e suas conex?es epistemológicas com gest?o da informa??o e do conhecimento
Capuano, Ethel Airton;Casaes, Julio;Costa, Julio Reis da;Jesus, Magda Sifuentes de;Machado, Marco Antonio;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652009000200002
Abstract: the article presents a literature's review showing the conceptual state-of-the-art of the corporate discipline called competitive intelligence (ci), from a point of view of information science (is), exploring developments and experiences in the organizations. although present in the ancient societies, subject of study of emperors, thinkers and warriors, competitive intelligence (ci), inspired in military intelligence activities, is a contemporary theme in the corporate world of global competition with renewed concern in market and academy. as the theme presents evident epistemological connections with information management (im) and knowledge management (km), the text aims to show how this happens and the relationship of cause and effect among several ranks of activity linked to the development of intelligence and decision making in the organizations, inspired in the liebowitz's (2006) framework based on an onion structure. correlated concepts are also explored, as the concept of km itself, in a praxis integrated by corporate disciplines, is called organizational learning, intellectual capital or human capital management, and organizational intelligence. other new concepts connected to ci are included in the liebowitz's (2006) intelligentsia galore set, as structural capital, customer capital, competitive capital, and strategic intelligence (si).
Construtos para modelagem de organiza??es fundamentadas na informa??o e no conhecimento no servi?o público brasileiro
Capuano, Ethel Airton;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2008, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652008000300002
Abstract: this article shows a preliminary study, based on literature and professional experiences of the authors, about organizational models in the brazilian public sector, its epistemological connections with the concepts of democracy and citizenship and a proposal for general model of information and knowledge-based organization (ikbo) to effectively provide public services in the country. ikbo concept comes from political science, public administration, information and communication technology (ict) management and pragmatic approaches of public services for modernization projects to improve quality and efficiency in user attendance process. the general ikbo model proposed has the goal of a synthesis between bureaucratic and managerial theses to shape a new management paradigm based on intensive use of information and learning incentives, understanding that "knowledge management" is a meaningful concept only if based on information and intellectual capital management and other intangible organization assets.
O poder cognitivo das redes neurais artificiais modelo ART1 na recupera??o da informa??o
Capuano, Ethel Airton;
Ciência da Informa??o , 2009, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-19652009000100001
Abstract: this article reports an experiment with a computational simulation of an information retrieval system constituted of a textual indexing base from a sample of documents, an artificial neural network software implementing adaptive resonance theory concepts for the process of ordering and presenting outputs, and a human user interacting with the system in query processing. the goal of the experiment was to demonstrate (i) the usefulness of carpenter and grossberg (1988) neural networks based on that theory, and (ii) the power of semantic resolution based on sintagmatic indexing of the sirilico approach proposed by gottschalg-duque (2005), for whom a noun phrase or proposition is a linguistic unity constituted of meaning larger than a word meaning and smaller than a story telling or a theory meaning. the experiment demonstrated the effectiveness and efficiency of an information retrieval system joining together those resources, and the conclusion is that such computational environment will be capable of dynamic and on-line clustering with continuing inputs and learning in a non-supervised fashion, without batch training needs (off-line), to answer user queries in computer networks with promising performance.

Abstract: The breach of current paradigms in the society becomes a more steady act. The decentralization and the establishment of the flow of information networks lead the jornalism from to new perspective: the logic of the individual. In that sense, is the use of information and communication technology (ict) and tendency to con-verge journalistic narrative, with emphasis on the production of contents. Thru the ccm or collective mobile computers (le o in lemos, 2004) the subject becomes not only to be an active agent in sharing information as well as you can at any time. Twitter surge in this time of informational revolution based on exchange of information, links and news limited to 140 characters. Accordingly, one can understand that twitter can be used as a tool that promotes the flow of news and breaks the paradigm of monopoly of information. As a study case, we’ll analyse the pro-Moussavi demonstrations after the presidential elections of Iran in June 2009 when the citizens considered the electoral process that reelected Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, fraudulent
Teachers’ Instructional Competence on Students’ Comprehension Skills and Critical Thinking Ability  [PDF]

Open Journal of Social Sciences (JSS) , 2014, DOI: 10.4236/jss.2014.24037
Abstract: Reading is a challenge and an opportunity to every person’s daily undertaking. If its ultimate aim is to develop critical thinking, then it has to be inculcated in the basic education. Observably, there is a prevailing issue on the low performance of students in content areas owing to their lack of comprehension. It is therefore the purpose of this study to determine how the teachers’ instructional competence influences the intermediate students’ comprehension skills as well as their critical thinking ability. Utilizing the normative-evaluative method, findings revealed that the intermediate students obtained an above average performance in following Directions. This reveals that the students are generally obedient. They are conscious of applying the skill in carrying out their varied activities/responsibilities because according to them careful compliance to standards and the like, engenders peace and order. On the other hand, both groups performed below average in Predicting Outcomes and Drawing Inferences respectively. This obviously denotes inadequacy in making intelligent guesses which are paramount in decision making. Since reading is significant to success basically in an academic undertaking, the teachers’ instructional competence as reflected in the findings is highly instrumental in the development of students’ comprehension skills and critical thinking as these would eventually lead them to function effectively in society.

Self-consistency in non-extensive thermodynamics of highly excited hadronic states

Physics , 2012, DOI: 10.1016/j.physa.2012.07.071
Abstract: The self-consistency of a thermodynamical theory for hadronic sys- tems based on the non-extensive statistics is investigated. We show that it is possible to obtain a self-consistent theory according to the asymptotic bootstrap principle if the mass spectrum and the energy density increase q-exponentially. A direct consequence is the existence of a limiting effective temperature for the hadronic system. We show that this result is in agreement with experiments.
