Marx e a Filosofia: elementos para a discuss?o ainda necessária
Vaisman, Ester;
Nova Economia , 2006, DOI: 10.1590/S0103-63512006000200005
Abstract: the main objective of this article is to reexamine an old controversy between analysts of marx: the relationship between marxist thought and philosophy, as well as the issue of methodology. the purpose is not to reach a final conclusion on such an intriguing topic, but rather to point out some elements that will show that this topic is far from "worn out." to the contrary. after outlining the critical relationship between marx and the classical german tradition, which is perhaps responsible for so much confusion, the article seeks to clarify how marx understands and conceives the operative functions of reason, as well as the role that objectivity plays in his theoretical path. in addition, this article raises the issue of the character that knowledge assumes in his theoretical corpus: is it speculative knowledge or the knowledge of transformation? finally, the article examines the character of the materialism initiated by marx, as well as references made in capital to hegelian dialectic.
Romero,Ester;
Subjetividad y procesos cognitivos , 2011,
Abstract: the problem with psychological assessment in general and with that of cognitive functions in particular, presents methodological and transcultural challenges. instruments for assessing cognitive functions are not exempt from these difficulties. however, it would be interesting to refer to the similarities and differences regarding the approach of psychological assessment and that of the neuropsychological one. although the two types of assessments tend to propose diagnostic hypothesis, explain pathological behavior and enlighten on possible normal functioning, both include psychometrics in their methodology and therefore use valid and reliable instruments. the professional's knowledge of himself should encompass his roots and culture in order that he might be aware of the fact that his work is that of a "ser inserto en una cultura" (a being embedded in a certain culture), benet (1986, cited by renata frank de verthelyi).
O "jovem" Lukács: trágico, utópico e romantico?
Vaisman, Ester;
Kriterion: Revista de Filosofia , 2005, DOI: 10.1590/S0100-512X2005000200013
Abstract: given the controversial character of "young" lukács' intellectual path, essentially concerning to the works the soul and the forms and theory of the romance, the central objective of the present article is to delineate with wide lines the path of lukács in his youth phase (based on their own texts and testimonies) and, thus, to discuss certain attributions done for this important period of his intellectual production.
Mais idade e menos cidadania
Vaz,Ester;
Análise Psicológica , 1998,
Abstract: the article reports the results of a study about the social integration of elderly people with functional autonomy, in terms of their well-being in urban and rural environments. main analysis factors: the relationship established between the social equipments for elderly people and the personal satisfaction level that is felt; the conditions personal protagonism in the elderly people's afectivity, socialization and autonomy in the family and social environments. the results obtained suggest the existence of sociability and solidarity, both in the family and the neighbourhood levels, felt more strongly in rural environments. moreover, the strict rules involving the functioning and the distancing of the family groups of elderly people, imposed by social equipment, work negatively on the elderly people's personal fulfilment. furthermore, the constant support given by the elderly people to their families and especially to their grandchildren becomes, to themselves, an important way of social integration, not easily recognised but with great social value.
Schiavo,Ester;
Revista iberoamericana de ciencia tecnolog?-a y sociedad , 2007,
Abstract: during the last decade, s&t research on the field of information and communication technologies (ict) has grown dramatically in argentina. as a consequence of this process, today it is possible to see that the disciplines involved in this field widely exceed those considered as specific, since exact sciences and engineering, devoted to the study of these technologies in particular, are more and more accompanied by natural and social sciences, humanities and different expressions of art. the goal of this paper is to know what is researched in the field of ict in argentina, in order to analyse which kind of knowledge is produced and to what extent it contributes to the country's economic and social development. the information surveyed made it possible to make a first approach to the network of links between the different fields of knowledge addressing the issue and those sectors of society to which the produced knowledge is transferred.

André P. Brink en de marxistische literatuuropvatting
Hans Ester
Tydskrif vir letterkunde , 2005,
Abstract: André Brink and the Marxist notion of literature [Dutch] In 1990 the Cape literary critic Ampie Coetzee published a thought-provoking essay under the title Letterkunde & Krisis.\'n Honderd jaar Afrikaanse letterkunde en Afrikaner-nasionalisme. (“Literature and Crisis. One Hundred Years of Afrikaans Literature and Afrikaner Nationalism”). Coetzee appeals for a Marxist appraisal of Afrikaans literature from the past up to the late 1980s. In Coetzee\'s opinion the notions of class warfare, of base and superstructure, of materialism and dialectics are essential to an understanding of historical development. Not many literary works in Afrikaans meet these requirements. Authors like Elisabeth Eybers and N.P. van Wyk Louw find no favour with Coetzee in spite of the innovations in their poems and plays. But, what about André Brink? Does he conform to Coetzee\'s criteria? The South African Publication Board pursued his novels on the grounds of their subversive, revolutionary nature. Even Brink\'s novels do not find favour with Coetzee. Brink\'s literary criticism demonstrates a profound knowledge of Marxist philosophical and Marxist cultural practice presuppositions in so-called socialist countries. He however refuses to write fiction within the framework of “socialist realism”. He is aware of the complex relationship between material and mental production and he has taken notice of the derailments within Marxist cultural politics. On the other hand, in order to improve social conditions in South African society, Brink, in his novels Looking on Darkness (1973/1974) A Chain of Voices (1982) and Rumours of Rain (1978), is deeply concerned with social analysis. His novels do not make class distinctions but distinguish between the brave and the craven during the years of social and political opposition. This leads to another observation. It struck the author of this essay that the subject matter of human labour, including that of actual production and the social relations of labour in factories and on the mines, plays a lesser role in contemporary Afrikaans literature. Most authors have academic backgrounds; they tend to write about human life outside the place of industrial work. Key Words: Afrikaans literature, André Brink, Marxism.
Importance of terms: What is a wealth deposit?
Ester Oras
Papers from the Institute of Archaeology , 2013, DOI: 10.5334/pia.403
Abstract: This paper discusses the importance of the terminology used to describe deliberately concealed separate artefact deposits. It is based on material from the eastern Baltic (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania) 1.–9. century AD. A general overview of the main material characteristics of the source material and relevant research questions is presented. The article then discusses previous traditionally deployed terms and concepts relating to this specific study material (hoards, votive deposits, selective and special deposits etc). The pros and cons of each one of the terms is discussed and the difficulties of employing these concepts in current research is emphasised. A new term, ‘wealth deposit’, is introduced and discussed in detail. This term is defined as one or more objects of value that are hidden deliberately as an intended deposition of specifically chosen artefacts into a specifically chosen place in a specific manner. I argue that this term—‘wealth deposit’—is more appropriate for analysing the development of and changes in depositional practices in time and space, because it does not limit the source material in relation to a deposit’s production materials, number of objects, environment of concealment and, more importantly, by preconditioned interpretations as to why the deposit was made in the first place. A case study of Estonian wealth deposits is provided to illustrate the usefulness of this new term.
Ein performativer Blick auf Sprache – Methodologische überlegungen und Konsequenzen für die Kulturforschung A Performative View of Language—Methodological Considerations and Consequences for the Study of Culture Una perspectiva performativa del lenguaje – Consideraciones metodológicas y consecuencias para el estudio de la cultura
Ester Barinaga
Forum : Qualitative Social Research , 2008,
URN: urn:nbn:de:0114-fqs0901244 Although researchers across the social sciences speak of a linguistic turn, most research exploring culture still assumes a traditional perspective on language, which conceives meaning as representation. Yet, WITTGENSTEIN convincingly criticized the epistemological basis of such a perspective, offering an alternative view on language. The paper begins by explaining the central points of a performative perspective of language: first, words do things; second, the meaning of an utterance is not directly given by the utterance; and third, meaning is in use. The change in perspective has direct consequences for the way we conceptualize and study our research phenomena. The second part of the paper deals with how social phenomena can be re-conceptualized and studied, putting a special emphasis on the phenomenon of culture. Finally, drawing from my own empirical material, the paper describes the consequences for the study culture applying a performative view of language. Methodological considerations of the change in perspective are also discussed.
Ester Saletta
Studia Austriaca , 2012, DOI: 10.6092/1593-2508/2186
Abstract: The following essay explores the theme of remembrance as a question of identity in Doron Rabinovici’s novel Suche nach M. The Austria Jewish author concentrates on the quest for self-determination through various means, which are determined by generational differences. While the generation of survivors sees remembrance of the Holocaust as a moment of silence, their children commemorate it through masquerades or carnivals. Rabinovici’s novel, with its emphasis on a collective search for identity, is an exemplary contribution to Holocaust literature as a re-elaboration of Jewish cultural biblical tradition.
