Approaching intermolecular interactions and membrane activity of taxol by FTIR Spectroscopy-implications for anticancer therapeutics  [PDF]
Erhan Erhan Süleymanoglu
Health (Health) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/health.2010.28125
Abstract: We studied the incorporation of hydrophobic drug Taxol into a solid lipid matrices by FTIR spectroscopy. Lipid arrays containing different molar fractions of the drug were made and deposited on the spectrometer glass window substrates for obtaining multilayer stacks. The drug induced an alteration of lipid array spacings, indicating the drug-lipid recognition. Using excess amounts of Taxol provide information on extrapolations on its cellular solubility in biomembranes. The data obtained could be used further for developing novel anticancer drug formulations, as well as for elucidating its novel cellular pharmacological targets.
A Root Canal Therapy on the Maxillary First Molar Tooth with Five Canals: A Case Report  [PDF]
Erkan Erhan, Gundogar Mustafa
Open Journal of Stomatology (OJST) , 2015, DOI: 10.4236/ojst.2015.54015
Abstract: Maxillary first molar usually exhibits a radicular anatomy of three roots and three or four canals. However, different anatomic variations like extra number of roots and canals are possible. For a successful treatment, clinicians must have well equipment and a thorough knowledge of the external and internal anatomy of teeth and its variation. Using of CBCT may help to locate extra canals by giving a chance to clinicians to see the root canal anatomy in 3-D view. The aim of this study was to present a case report about a diagnosis and treatment in maxillary first molar with three roots and five canals. It is concluded that the diagnosing and the treatment of unusual cases are key factors for successful endodontic treatment of these teeth.
Basic Experimental Pancreatitis Models for Beginners  [PDF]
Baris D. Yildiz, Erhan Hamaloglu
Surgical Science (SS) , 2010, DOI: 10.4236/ss.2010.12007
Abstract: Efforts to find an ideal model for pancreatitis date back to 1960’s. Many models are suggested since then. Every model has its own advantages and disadvantages. Some of these models test etiology while others simulate the complications of pancreatitis. An ideal model which by itself demonstrates all aspects of pancreatitis including systemic changes is yet to be described. In this review we tried to gather the basic, easy to construct models.

Abstract: The Khanate of Khokand appealled the Ottoman State, the most powerful state of the Muslim World and represented the caliphate of all muslims, in political, military, religious and industrial areas. In the period of Muhammed Ali Khan, three delagacy committees was sent to stanbul for purpose of gaining the support of Ottoman Sultan and Caliph. After these committees had submitted their commitments, they beseeched the sultan to fulfill their political, religious, military and industrial demands. But Ottoman State showed political levelheadedness because the Sultan thought that such an intervention could bring about to deteriorate relations between the Russian and Ottoman State and come to harm the Muslim community in Central Asia. On the other hand, Ottoman State tried to fulfill other demands in military, religious and industrial areas, but however it couldn’t perfectly realize because of remoteness between the Empire and Khanates in Turkistan and difficulties in foreign policy.

Abstract: The Yenisei Inscriptions, the number of which is over 200, have not received enough attention from researchers except for those studying on the Turkish language due to the fact that they have limited amount of lines and were written irregularly. One of the most important reasons of this is that all of the inscriptions are dateless and that they contain some cliché phrases and sentences which are similar to aphorisms of today’s epitaphs. However, still it is possible to elicit some information from multi–lined inscriptions such as de Elegest I (E 10), A ura (E 26), Alt n–K l I (E 28), Alt n–K l II (E 29), K jeelig–Hovu (E 45), Abakan (E 48).In this article, data on Turkic tribes have been compiled from some 160 inscriptions, whose texts are on hand, and we have aimed to supply new information on what is already known about these tribes. After presenting texts where identified tribes are mentioned, they will be translated into the modern Turkish, and then each tribe will be evaluated in regard to the Yenisei inscriptions and to the Yenisei catchment basin. Bugün say s n n 200’ü a t bilinen Yenisey yaz tlar , sat r say lar n n azl ve düzensiz yaz lm olmalar nedeniyle Türk dili alan d nda al an ara t rmac lar n ilgisini ekmemi tir. Bunun en nemli nedenlerinden birisi bu yaz tlar n tamam n n tarihsiz olmas ve günümüz mezar ta lar ndaki veciz ifadelere benzeyen kimi kal pla m ibare ve cümleler i ermesidir. Ancak yine de Elegest I (E 10), A ura (E 26), Alt n–K l I (E 28), Alt n–K l II (E 29), K jeelig–Hovu (E 45), Abakan (E 48) gibi ok sat rl yaz tlardan e itli bilgiler elde edilebilmektedir.Bu makalede elimizde metni bulunan 160 civar ndaki yaz ttan Türk boylar veya boy birlikleriyle ilgili bilgiler derlenmi ve bu boylarla ilgili bilinenlere yeni bilgiler ekleme kayg s güdülmü tür. Tespit edilen boy veya boy birliklerinin ge ti i yerin metni verildikten sonra günümüz Türk esine evirisi yap lacak, ard ndan her boy veya boy birli i, Yenisey yaz tlar ve Yenisey havzas er evesinde de erlendirilecektir.

Abstract: In this article, the name Bul u, which is mentioned in tüken Inscriptions, Tonyukuk Inscription, and ine Usu Inscription - which remained from tüken Uigurs, has been examined grammatically as well as geographically. According to the information obtained from the sources, it has been suggested that Bul u, which was a place in which the Turgish and ü Karluk lived, was both the name of a river and a place name. In this sense, it has been suggested that Bul u, which is mentioned in the ine Usu Inscription being clearly a river, is the Ulungur (Urungu) river; Bul u, which is mentioned in the tüken Inscriptions and Tonyukuk Inscriptions, is likely to be the place where River Ulungur (Urungu) flows into, and is the town of Buluntogoy which is on the East side of the South end of the lake, which is today called Fu-hai by the Chinese. This conclusion has been drawn by assuming that the names of the rivers and lakes in the area can also be used for the names of places (settlements) in the same region. Abstract: Contemporary learning approaches gives importance not to conveying the information but to developing top level thinking skills such as analyzing and synthesizing, relating and problem solving. Among these skills, problem solving is important both for daily life and development of mental activities. One of the methods that can be used to develop problem solving skills in educating and teaching environments is case based learning method. Case based learning method ensures reallike world conditions / problematic situations are brought into the class and develops students’ ability to produce solution suggestions to these problems. In this study, a suggestion is put forward regarding how case based learning method can be used in reading education which is one ofthe skills within Turkish language education a sample scenario is presented over a problem with a possibility to occur at primary education second stage level a da renme yakla mlar bilginin aktar lmas n de il; renenlerin analiz sentez yapma, ili ki kurma, problem zme gibi üst düzey dü ünme becerilerinin geli tirilmesini n plana almaktad r. Trends and Issues in Distance Education: International Perspectives
The Turkish Online Journal of Distance Education , 2006,
Abstract: Trends and Issues in Distance Education: International Perspectives Edited by Yusra Laila Visser, Lya Visser, Michael Simons n, & Ray Amirault, 2005, United States of America: Information Age Publishing, Inc. pp. 315. ISBN 1-59311-212-2 Reviewed by Dr. Erhan EROGLU Anadolu University Eskisehir, TURKEY In this book, the terms of “distance education” has been discussed from different perspectives. The term “distance education” conjures up in many minds the image of modern, computer-enabled technology that has blossomed in only the last twenty years. Many of the lessons learned over the last century of distance education research and practice have been implemented in a wide variety of distance education programs worldwide, from higher education online learning programs in the United States to rural, radio-based instructional programs in developing countries. Distance education is truly international discipline. While it is true that the term “distance education” has a universal definiton, local distance ducation experiences are often quite idiosyncratic. This idiosyncratic nature emerges from the need to integrate distance education within the constraints, oppurtunities, and realities of spesific cultural and geographic contexts. From these local distance education experiences, educators are developing new understandings of the broader field of distance education, including the trends and issues present in the field. ORGANIZATION OF THE SECTIONS This book has been organized by thematic content into four main sections. Each of these sections represents a unique level of analysis for trends and issues in distance education. Part I presents five distinct perspectives on the state of distance education and the trends and issues of the field. First perspective of five distinct perpectives is “a survey of progressive and conservative trends in education with implications for distance education practice.” Second perspective is “quality, accredition and recognition: issues in the delivery of transnational education.” Third perspective is “the long and short of distance education: trends and issues from a planetary human develeopment perspective.” Fourth perspective is “distance education reappraised: emerging trends in traditional universities and corporate training institutions.” And fifth one is “what the world needs now: international research on distance education.” Part II contains a series of interviews that that were conducted with international distance education leaders. This section has four chapters. The individuals interviewes in this section were selec

Abstract: Yenisei inscriptions are inscriptions along the Yenisei River having a total number of 250 and thought to have been erected by the Kyrgyz. Among these inscriptions, although the first discovered one was Uybat III (E 32) Inscription, not much had been known about the characteristics of the alphabet and who they belonged to until the inscriptions remained from the Second East Turkic Khanate was found in 1889 by N. Yadrintsev. After the decipherment of the letters in this alphabet by Thomsen, researches mostly focused on the Mongolian area, and attempts were also made to read these inscriptions. In this sense, we should mention the names Radloff, S. Ye. Malov and H. N. Orkun. None of the Yenisei inscriptions bear a date. Maybe they did not have advanced calendar systems to be used in the inscriptions. The common characteristic of almost every inscription is that they mention, rather than historical events, what the hero of the inscription did, why he died, and longing for family members, homeland, sky and sun as told from his mouth; as a result, they did not caught the attention of researches apart from scientists on Turkish language. In this article, 170 inscriptions, whose texts are available, have been analyzed in detail, and our attention has been devoted to the narrations in the texts which might be dated. It has been attempted to determine at least when a few of the inscriptions were erected < br > < br > Yenisey yaz tlar , Yenisey Irma boyunca, K rg zlar taraf ndan dikildi i san lan ve bugün toplam say s 250’ye yakla an yaz tlard r.
